PF Kingmaker (Still recruiting, especially females!)

KINGMAKER

We're still recruiting! Especially female characters!

Hey Literotica! I'm a longtime lurker of these forums and a longer-time Pathfinder GM. So I thought I'd combine the two and propose to run the Kingmaker adventure path right here as a play-by-post game. And of course, since this is Literotica, it will be brimming with sexiness along with typical swords and sorcery!

Right now, what I'd like to see is just how much interest there'd be in such a game, before I plough on ahead. So if you're interested, please let me know here. Preferably, give me an idea of a sort of character you'd like to play. But if you don't know or aren't sure, you're welcome to wait until I give you more information.

If you're looking for general information on the Pathfinder setting, there's a Pathfinder wiki here. And here.

If you're looking for precise information on this campaign, you can find it in the Kingmaker Player's Guide. The site says you need to "purchase" it, but don't worry: it's free! You'll need to read this later as we get into the nitty-gritty of character creation, but if you want to get a head start, there you go.

If you're new to Pathfinder, that's great: I always enjoy when new people are interested in playing. You can ask me anything you need to know about the rules. A great starting point for learning them, though, can be found here.

Looking forward to seeing how this goes,
AA

Edit:

Character Creation

Your characters will start at first level. Take 20 point buy and maximum gold for your starting class. Any Paizo-published classes are kosher. For race, run anything exotic by me before you go ahead with it.

Requirements

What I'd like from everyone is:

1. A character sheet. You can host it on a website like myth-weavers or DnDsheets for free.
2. A backstory. Please read the Kingmaker Player's Guide for assistance with this. But the short version is that your character must have a compelling reason for wanting to explore the Stolen Lands.
3. An appearance section. This should be at bare minimum a long paragraph, but more is (generally) better.
4. A personality section. Same deal as the appearance: a long paragraph is the minimum. When thinking about your character's personality, make sure that it manages to be interesting and unique. Especially make sure that your character has potential for the less PG aspects of the campaign, but also that the character is rounded enough to be interesting during the less/non-sexual parts of the game.

Character Concepts
Deevo: Human Rogue. Gentleman thief seeking prestige and ladies.
Ravenloft: Calyn Elsworth. Human Fighter. Former slave.
NotShyGuy: Human Gunslinger. Seeking father's expedition in the Stolen Lands.
HotKittyGirl: Catfolk Barbarian.
Naliria: Human Cleric.

My hat has been thrown in the ring.

I love Pathfinder and have given Kingmaker a run a time or two. So I'm all over this and then some. :3

Great that there's been a little bit of interest so far. Either of you have any ideas yet, or is it too early to say?

I'd love to play in a Pathfinder game. I'm not familiar with Kingmaker, but I've heard good things about it.

Glad to see more interest.

I'm willing to play whatever is needed, but it'll be something sexy. I enjoy elves and catfolk. A group always needs a charismatic sexy beast for "diplomatic missions".

A party also always needs a roguish scallywag to get them into and out of trouble.

You can rely on me to back you up. That's where you'll find me: in the rear, weapon drawn!

I've really never run a pathfinder game.
I've played DnD 3.5 e and 4e as well as most of the offshoots of Dark Heresy.
Why not throw some sexy times into one?

I'm definitely interested, but will need to do some reading.

Great to see some more interest in this!

Numerical_Value: PF is very similar to 3.5. If you've played that, you'll have this down in no time.

Alright, since we have four people who've expressed interest (which is pretty much my bare minimum), I'll give you some more detailed instructions.

Well well well, I've got a couple of ideas. Kinda depend on the gender of other characters; I'm guessing things will ideally balance out. I'm a newbie at this, so if anyone who knows more wants to enlighten me as to whether it's normal practice here to play characters only of your sex, please do.

With that said, I'm gonna throw out a few ideas I've had...

A drow/tiefling sorceress/wizardess who's scheming, manipulative, and amoral.

A naive, chaste priestess.

An orcish warrior seeking honor and glory [Male or female].

You can play any gender you like, Naliria. You can even be asexual, though where's the fun in that? :D

I'm thinking about playing a human rogue, if that's all right with everyone. A fast talker with an eye for the ladies that's gotten him into more than a few scrapes. Some angry husbands, empty pockets and a hunger for travel compel him to venture forth and find his fortune.

Thanks! I'll wait and see what everyone else wants to do before I pick, since with three concepts, I'm flexible.

I'm reading about classes now.
I've always enjoyed bards.
But I'd probably cross-class, if that's allowed.
Perhaps a bard that picks up a few magic tricks along the way?
Or even a druid that finds himself in an adventuring party, and out of necessity needs to learn to fight, but will still only use weapons made from materials drawn directly from the earth?

Multi-classing is allowed, sure, but you want to be careful with it, especially if you're mixing in spellcasting classes - they tend to be quite weak if you dilute your levels, because they gain access to their powerful spells very slowly.

But that said, I care more about the personality of characters than the particular classes.

As for post length requirements, how much would you like to see us writing each post?

Perhaps just someone raised in a Druidic cult, with the values of a druid, but no spell-casting. Just a fighter with a Druidic background?

I'll hold off on class for a bit to see what is needed. I always like a balanced group. But with that said I'm always partial to catfolk, so something dex or charisma based. /wanders off, pondering

I'd be interested in this, though I'm a complete newb when it comes to pen-and-paper RPGs. I've always been interested in getting into D&D but could never find a group nearby, so I guess this is as good an intro as any.

Looks like I've got quite a bit of reading ahead of me, but I think I'll be playing a human ranger.

Hey NotShyGuy! Don't worry about being new to this. The huge number of rules looks really intimidating, but most of them can be read on a need-to-know basis. And really, what most of them amount to is this:

To do something that has a chance of failure (e.g. attacking an enemy, picking a lock, dodging out of the way of a fireball), you roll a 20 sided dice (d20) and add a modifier to that. That modifier represents how skilled you are at the task at hand. How you calculate it differs depending on what you're doing, but it almost always involves adding one of your ability modifiers to the roll.

Here are some of the key ones:

Attacking: roll a d20 + your strength modifier (for melee attacks) or dexterity modifier (for ranged attacks) + your base attack bonus (this comes from your class) + any feats that add attack bonuses + any magical bonuses from spells or magic weapons.

Skill checks: roll a d20 + the ability modifier tied to that skill (you can find this on your character sheet) + any magical bonuses

Saving throws (when your character is resisting an effect caused by something bad. These come in three varieties: fortitude, will, and reflex).

Fortitude = d20 + constitution modifier + base fortitude bonus (like base attack bonus, this comes from your class) + any feats that add to it + any magical bonuses
Reflex and Will at the same, except you replace constitution modifier with dexterity and wisdom, respectively.

I forgot to ask and remembered suddenly while I was pondering character ideas. Are we doing traits?

Yeah, take two traits. One can be anything you'd like. The other should represent your reason for joining the expedition to the Stolen Lands. The Kingmaker Player's Guide has several of these, but don't feel constrained; if another does a better job, use that.

Gonna have to think about traits too then. Not that I've decided on a concept yet.
