Path to a Trump victory in 2024 is now clear. So, what will the Dem leadership do?

In the span of 48 hours, Trump has gotten the biggest campaign boosts of any modern Presidential candidate, while Biden is fading despite his accomplishments.

Dem leadership has said Trump getting elected presents an existential threat to the nation. Their next political move needs to be huge if they intend to show they meant what they said.

Will it be, and what will it be?

None of it will matter, I’m pretty sure. This isn’t like 50 years ago, where people got swayed by pictures and words could convince people of anything. It isn’t even like 30 years ago, where people thought that compromise was a good idea. There is no graciousness in being a loser.

Either you like Trump and the RNC policies or you don’t like them. If you liked either of them, you were voting for him before this. If you didn’t like either of them, you aren’t voting for him after this.

End of the day, this changes nothing. Dems should honestly just act like nothing happened, since it was a winning message. It’s not like a 20-something Republican was listening to Dem propaganda. Dude tried to assassinate Trump listening to the Republican echo chamber, not the Democrat one.

If they’re smart, they will focus their attention and money on the House and Senate.

Unfortunately, Dem leadership is too conservative and timid to act decisively to energize independent and young voters.

Will it be as huge as Biden's Oval office speech? :)

the message needs to come out LOUD and CLEAR to the younger potential voters about:

  • trump's 2025 will mean they'll all (except the rich kiddies) have to sign up for national service or the civic alternative

  • abortion will be largely unattainable, with so many states opting for the no-exceptions policy

  • trump's climate policies reversals which will mean end-game for the both the USA and the world... so they'll have little future to worry about
compulsory national service won't sit well with many who want to pursue their own happiness and have no interest in joining the armed forces.
denial of abortion access and healthcare for women will speak mainly to girls who don't plan on being forced to carry unwanted pregnancies, but should speak to their friends, too.
and the climate which, let's be honest, should be the TOP concern—it is far more relevant to younger people who've not yet lived their lives. It should be capitalized on as much as possible right now because of the very real effects we are all seeing from global change.

I'm more concerned about what the voters will do.

Stand and fight with the power of their ballots.

Or rollover like cowards.

I haven’t heard Trump say a word about compulsory national service.

Abortion decisions are happening at the state level. It’s likely that organizations that receive federal funding won’t be able to perform abortions.

Expect a regulatory environment more favorable to petroleum and natural gas production and distribution, and a curbing of subsidies and tax credits for EVs and solar

Well, the most long-reaching consequences of a second Trump presidency is the long-sought goal of a unitary executive. The President as king, doing whatever he wants with a rubber-stamp or irrelevant legislature.

This effect will outlive him and probably outlive all of us, because once the institution of authoritarianism is installed, it basically never goes away. And once that happens, it never gets better no matter who is in charge… the nature of needing to be in power means that more and more resources need to be diverted to staying in power.

It’s one reason I prefer Dems over Republicans. Dems are fundamentally disorganized and incapable of reacting to anything but the worst threats. They could no more produce a king than a dog could give birth to a chicken. It’s why they are so obsessed with finding good candidates… they need to satisfy their own diverse base who demands constant perfection. Republicans realized about 15 years ago that results were all that mattered. Good candidates didn’t matter, what mattered was a result. That is the perspective of a king. Power above all else. Hold the power, never let go, kill all who threaten your power.

And just so we’re clear… in the long run, kings are not good for anyone other than the king and his heir. To be ruled by a king is to have your fundamental being attached to the prosperity of another. Your bloodline is enslaved to their whims. There is no gain you can make, no good you can accomplish, which can ever free you from the threat of the king. No amount of skill, nor wealth, nor distance can free you from the king, because the king’s rule is absolute. His claim over you is based on his belief that he rules you, and you have no recourse unless you’re willing to find an enemy king to counter his whims.

The whole thing reminds me of the old fable about frogs demanding for a king. Zeus provided them such a king by giving them a crane to prey on them.

No matter how the election turns out next week, Biden made the right choice by listening to other Democrats and dropping out.

Thanks Biden, for putting Country first.
