Past Lives?

The reason for this question is I got a huge sword for my b'day. It is a two handed sword and is about five feet long. The first time I picked it up and wielded it, I felt like I've done this before and the sword felt like an old friend. It now is next to me when I sleep, and I feel like I've done that before in another time.

I have this belief that along with genetic characteristics, I think our DNA has snippets of memory from our ancestors. It could explain why I like large timbered furniture and huge fireplaces. My family hailed primarily from Scotland, and Norway. I wonder if I get quick memory flashes from the highlands, or the fjords?

I havn't really thought about past lives much... But I do feel I have an old soul... NS and NSW would be someone you might want to email or chat with about this fella... NSW can be spooky about certain things... The bloody witch that she is! Heheh!

Seriously though, I've always wondered myself about past lives. I've gotten a sense of deja vu when talking to people that I've never met before, almost like I might have met them in a dream somewhere along the line.

I'd never actually attached a scientific explanation to it though, but I'm thinking that something like that wouldn't be outlandish at all.

Some of what I've read about beliefs of reincarnation stated that many people simply thought that they would live on with their offspring. Maybe it's possible that memories are passed along in much the same way as blond hair or a talent for art.

I know I believe in past lives. It's too hard to explain some deep emotional connections to some people you meet after only a short time of knowing them. I think they are someone close to you in a past life.

Take for example Draco and me. There are things we just KNOW about each other than we'd not discussed before. Certain things in life stay with you, following into the next lifetime and each one after it.

There's a connection there that I can't explain. I can usually sense when something's wrong and I need to call him. He also knows when I'm trying to hide things from him that are bothering me. The only way to explain it is past lives together. It does get freaky when you get a "What's wrong?" after only typing the word "Hi." in chat first thing in the morning.

If someone can come up with something better, I'd like to hear it.

The first time we ever chatted, later that morning I had a dream.
An incredibly vivid dream of a WW1 soldier lying mortally wounded on a battlefield in France. He was dying a slow horrible death, smoke and flames all around him. Slowly he passed on to the next realm. Over the hill in the distance strode a nurse with a lamp, her face was blurred, and she trudged thru the wreckage and carnage towards this dead soldier. But she was too late to save him.

Over the next two mornings, this dream repeated itself, almost frame by frame, always the soldier died, always the nurse was too late.

This was really starting to make me wonder, I hadn't talked about it with anyone, not even SweetCherry. Then on the last night, the nurse was on time, the soldier was saved, the nurse carried him to safety. That day I mused over the twist in it, trying to get my head around it. I figured it meant a lot more than just a random dream. Thats when we began to figure that we had so much in common, more than either of us would guess. From trival little things like the same songs to major stuff. I knew then that i had found my soulmate. I now know the meaning of the dream and my interpretation of it. We missed our chance to be together in three different lifetimes. This fourth one's the keeper. heaven and Earth will be moved for Us to be together...the fates dictate this.

Past lives

SweetCherry and Draco your experience is touching to say the least.

I to believe in past lives and this was brought home vividly when visiting The Wall in Washington, DC. I do not know anyone personally who was involved in the Vietnam war nor have I ever studied it that much in school and yet it has always been something that touches my core.

When visiting The Wall for the first time I stood gazing at it and then went forward and touched a name. I don't recall the name only that I started crying and sat down right there on the ground and just sobbed. I have no reason as to why other than I believe that was my name from a past life that i found. I really can't find any other explanantion for my particular attachement to that time.

I only know what I know... Or maybe what I need to know...
Have I had past lives? maybe... I do know that I am so much more than my physcical/mental and emotional self...
I do know that several times in my life (and right now as a matter of fact) I have felt close intense connections with people that just seemed to be not of this world... I felt my soul knew that soul well...
Perhaps we have passed this way together more than once.... and will do so again...
There is also the idea of future lives.. and that time really does not exist in the realm of the soul...
Some even say we are experiencing all our lives at once... and that is what is going on when we feel that "connection".
Kind of mind boggling the possibilitys...
No matter what though,, I beleive that if we focus too much on past or future anything we miss the gifts of the moment...

I definately believe in past lives, I believe that in each life we all have a lesson to learn. If it is not learned, it goes with you into the next life. Its not soo much a deja vu thing for me, more like why I have an interest in certain time periods. I feel like I must have lived in Ireland or Scotland in the 1600's. I feel like I was a Lords lady with a big castle to run. I can close my eyes while reading a story set in this time period and see myself like it was yesterday. Is it a past life? I don't know, it could be just an over active imagination!

Lost Cause, your theory of memories being carried over with us, is actually a pretty popular one, and one of the few ways to explain many connections. It can also explain certain seemingly inborn talents and fears.

I know I've been here before. I accept it as fact. I've met people and had an instant connection with them, or an unexplainable fear of them. Later, I've found out about their past memories, and the connections have become intensely clear.

There are too many unexplainables, and I've learned never to ask "why". Too many connections with supposed strangers; too many instances that two people immediately connect with each other; too many times the same people enter and re-enter your life, as if there is a definite purpose for them to be there. I think we've all been here before, and some of us will be back again. (Hope I get a better break next time around!!)

Well, I Freaked out NSW the first time we ever talked andshe did the same to me... Yes I saved the conversation just to prove it. and then it took me about a month to save up and get the ambition to go and be with her..... and we have been together ever since... and things have been happening, Memories and talkes with others that have never happend yet happend, Iknow confusiing and I know that as well but it happens

Maybe the "knowing when someone is calling, or in trouble" might be more like the "force" in Star Wars. I just have this instinct that I don't belong here. Things I see in books or on the tv makes my heart jump, and I KNOW I've walked there, or been there.

LC... check out the book Reliving Past Lives by Helen Wambauch. It's an interesting book built around 'accidental memories' revealed under hypnosis. The subjects weren't necessarily people who had gone in for actual past life regression, but for other reasons, and the other lives were revealed.

A friend of mine has a wife that does that past lives therapy. She had a lady that was deathly afraid of basements all her life. During hypnosis, she revealed that in a past event she was imprisoned in a dungeon like place. She said her name, and that she had died because of the imprisonment. After the therapy, she understood her fear, and can go into a basement without a panic attack. Thanx again!
