When I host I almost always over provision, especially if I don't know the people well. It's almost embarrassing. I like the idea to have simple suppers with friends but then things get a little creative and instead of a simply two course meal I think that, oh this would go so well as an appetitivo or this would sit well beside coffee after that and oh, that bread I read about would fit this meal, but thatbpetdon loves this bread, meh I'll bake both, bread freezes or they can take it home....

Keep it simple I always say

If I host I have to plan it out. Copious pieces of paper with things to buy, ingredients, recipes and even times to put stuff on stove/bbq. I typically have 4 timers in kitchen including stove timer. Not a natural cook and need s.o.p. to function.
