So,
I'm back from my vacation in France. I managed to survive with the single french sentence:"Je ne comprends pas le francais." and my smile. It would have been easier in Paris (there you get away with English), but if you pick small villages not that close to mass tourism, sign language is your best bet.
The weather was nearly perfect - 77° F / 25° C up to 91° / 33°. Weather for hiking, weather for sunbathing and on one day this rainfall hit us.
Now, the eye candy.

The first image shows the "Promenade Marius Coulumb" at night, taken from our garden with 4x optical zoom and 10 second exposure time.

The light trails in the upper right corner are not flying saucers, but cruisers - smeared due to the exposure time. On some nights up to 7 of them arrived there, lining up on the horizon. An aircraft carrier was there, too, for a night - Toulon has an important navy base.
Then the traditional point of view from the patio:

And at night, with pool lights on (not enough exposure time, I know.. I'm still a newbie photographer):

The next image shows Presqu'île de Giens, the peninsula Giens, and the small village and port La Madrague.

A large part of the peninsula is a nature conservation area with hiking trails along the coast. Alpine boots are recommended and you should be unafraid of heights for the trail. If you want to get rid of someone, this is the place to go.
And finally, the obligatory sunset:

Later this week I will add some more images, for those who fancy monasteries.
