"Mitochondria-- A Microorganism that lives within human cells, and had existed symbiotically with the nucleus for hundreds of millions of years. Critical for the production of energy within living things, mitochondria has its own genetic code, and the ability to evolve and multiply. After exhaustive DNA research, it appears that all mitochondria can be traced to a single source: a female human in ancient Africa, identified as 'Mitochondrion Eve'"

What if this organism had "her" own intentions, and was waiting for the day to take over the human race.

On Christmas Eve of 1997, "She" awoke. But "she" hadn't counted on another like her. Born of her own cells, the other fought her, and destroyed her. But it didn't end there.

Aya Brea, the "other", an NYPD detective, quit the force after witnessing the deaths of nearly one quarter of the city of New York. She moved out west, hoping to find herself, but instead found that a new breed of creature had been born out of the ashes of "her". Neo-Mitochondrion Creatures, NMCs...genetic mutations brought about by accelerated evolution caused by mitochondria. Aya joined the FBI, a new branch called Mitochondrion Investigation and Suppression Team, or MIST. Together with a cocky ex-Air Force PI, her reckless partner, and the team that she worked with, she stopped a second apocalyptic battle against mitochondria.

Now, she has found that she wasn't alone. There exist others like her, who have "awakened" mitochondria. And with this knowledge, comes knowledge that there will always be the danger of Mitochondrion Eve.

July 1st, 2007--Ten years after Eve's appearance.

After SWAT was sent into a building where they were told a terrorist was threatening the people inside, an explosion rocked the building. Following the explosion, monsters started to stream out of the building, engulfing much of Los Angeles.

Aya Brea, now the leader of the FBI's MIST division, called her team into her office to explain the situation.

Name: Relentless, Aron --Played by Dragonrazor
Classification: Government (MIST)
Age: 25
Description: Black hair, green eyes, tanned skin. Aron has a lean, almost gymnastic build, which has served him well in his previous career. He has an irreverant personality, and is always hitting on Aya, when he thinks she can't hear him. All that aside, he is an excellent member of the team, often called upon when large monsters show up.
Background: While Aron's place of birth isn't known, it is known that he was once an assassin working for the government. He was arrested by the feds after a botched hit, and Aya approached him, making him an offer in exchange for his freedom. He agreed, for two reasons, one of which he won't tell Aya. The reason he gives her is that he got tired of killing people, and finds the monsters the perfect prey.
Specialty: Aron is an expert marskman, as well as being skilled at stealth and silent killing.
Mitochondrial power(if applicable): besides rapid healing and pyrokinesis, Aron is able to increase the kinetic force of a bullet, as well as infusing it with a payload of cancerous mitochondria, toxic to NMCs

Description: 5'8", blonde hair, bluegreen eyes, young looking.
Background: Aya is one of the two oldest members of MIST...the other one being Agent Rupert Broderick, her former partner. Before that, she was a detective with the New York Police Department. She is also one of the first two to awaken.
Specialty: She's the boss, so as such, she has a keen mind and a good aim.
Mitochondrial Powers: Though she rarely goes on missions anymore, her mitochondria are the most advanced, and therefore, her powers are more diverse than those of her agents.



Name: Broderick, Rupert (NPC)
Classification: Government (MIST)
Age: 40

Description: 6'3", black, scars on his bald head.
Background: Like Aya, Rupert was a cop before joining MIST...he joined out of a need for revenge, as his family was killed in the New York Blockade Incident. He is Aya's closest friend in the Agency, as he knows exactly what she went through.
Specialty: Rupert is the last of the original Field Agents in the department. He's won the Agency Marksmanship tourney every year, beating out even Aya.



Name: Carradine, Pierce (NPC)

Age: 30
Description: 5'9", blonde hair, blue eyes, wears sunglasses at all times. thin and wiry.
Background: little is known about Pierce's background, but he is a very kind person, and hates guns. As MIST's main Infomanagement Specialist, he rarely leaves the HQ, preferring to hunt down information that might help field agents using computers. A very scientific individual, he has an attachment to Aya, almost a brotherly love.

Description: 5'7", reddish brown hair, darker skin (Latin) Always cheerful and sardonically witty, but what would you expect from being stuck in a cage with guns all day long.
Background: Jodie was hired out of college, for her obsession with guns, and her belief that they must be kept out of the hands of stupid people.
Specialty: People Skills, and knowledge of firearms




Name: Kincaid, Jack (played by Dragonrazor)
Classification: LAPD (Police)
Age: 23
Description: Brown hair, Blue eyes, 6'3" well muscled, but still lean, like a swimmer. He wears his hair in a buzz cut, but has his ears pierced, just to be different. His mitochondria only recently awakened, and he's used his powers to help his job.
Background: Jack spent most of his childhood as a troublemaker, until he got arrested by an older detective after he stole from a mobster. He was put in the witness protection program, and moved out to LA, where he joined the PD, becoming their youngest detective. Gifted with an eagle eye at a young age, he made a great close quarters shooter, often solving hostage situations without injuring the hostages, when all other options have failed.
Specialty: Jack is extremely good at getting through defenses, and is an expert marskman. He also has a photographic memory, which often comes in handy in his job.
Mitochondrial Power: Jack is able to manipulate the mitochondria of normal people, using them to do anything from curing poisons to igniting skin.

hmm....i think that works well, yes, though you'll have to provide a reason for him to have a sword in this day and age....after all, i got arrested for carrying one (in a sheath) and charged with an assault that never took place
 
he collects them, and hes staying in LA for the time being. When the monsters start coming, is when he starts getting out the lumber, so to speak. I also had an idea that would be totally up to you, about him meeting up with people from MIST and when they saw him fight they wanted him in. and btw what kinda mitochondrial powers can someone have? cause i want to make Dan's twin brother who works for the FBI.

Name: King, Jack (played by Garlic)
Classification: Government (MIST)
Age: 26
Description: For the most part silent, but when Jack speaks, people listen. He is usually mistaken for a much younger person until he speaks, thanks to his lip-length black hair, boyish blue eyes and clumsy manner, but when he speaks, his eyes narrow, his hair crawls over his face, and his demeanor is sharp and precise. Anyone would mistake him for a 50 year old veteran at this point. Not overtly tall, not overtly strong, Jack's strength lies in his chameleon-like manner and ability to defuse and rationalise almost any situation.
Background: His co-workers do not know this yet, but Jack was raised a hardened criminal. Since his early teens he has been breaking into house, drug running and getting into numerous street fights. It was only after one of these fights, when the man was but 20, the he found himself unconcious and bleeding to death at the door of one Gracy Raynor. Ms. Raynor took Jack in, tended to his wounds, and discovered the beauty and strength within him. For years Jack fled from the love of Gracy, but returned periodically when things got rough. He feared becoming home-grown, and feared his enemies killing Gracy to get back at him. In the end, he did become home-grown, and his love convinced him to apply for a steady job. He swiftly moved through the ranks of Police forces throughout the state, but when it became apparant that street-patrolling was not for him (his previously violent life changing him into an introverted shadow for fear of killing on the job), he was recommended by his superior for a more desk-based job, and got the role on the MIST team as Head of Strategy and Information. However, the job involved him leaving his home, and Gracy, for periods of 6 months at a time. He didn't want to leave, but Gracy practically forced him, and he now spends most of his days in silence, pining for his love and counting down the minutes until their reunion.
Specialty: Sharp, and focused, thinking. Able to deduce problems, rationalise them and find solutions instantenously. Also has an uncanny knack at spotting patterns in seemingly random data. Gained top marks in hostage negotiation and other areas which require oral skills and command of human emotions. Reccommended as a spokesperson in any situation, able to 'talk his way out' of the majority of situations.

Starting Weapon(s): Standard issue Glock 17 on belt holster. Prefers to be unarmed where possible, for fear of killing an innocent man.



Name: Johnson, Fred (played by Garlic)
Classification: Police (LAPD)
Age: 34
Description: Very smart looking man. Well-built, always dressed in a suit when not in uniform. His hair is long enough to be spikey without looking slack. Always smells of the best aftershave. Always clean-cut and alert. Deep green eyes and slightly tanned complexion. Looks like the proverbial million dollars and acts like a millionaire, but is always pleasant and courteous. Nobody is particularly close to Fred, and he isn't particularly close to anyone either, but nobody hates him.
Background: Brought up by a very sports-centric family, Fred was always destined to be a world-class footballer. However, like most High School footballers, the young man fell short to an injury, one which he has never grown out of. Despite his weakened leg, Fred was still physically present enough to gain a trial in his local Army batallion. He passed the boot camp with flying colours, but fell short on the firing range and in hand-to-hand combat. After dropping out of the military, Fred applied to his local Police force to give him focus while he re-assessed his life. What was meant to be a temporary measure soon became his entire existence, as the helpful prompting from his colleagues improved his sharpshooting dramatically, and a beateous lady friend who happened to be skilling martial arts boosted his hand-to-hand combat skills. However, his mind never seemed really focussed on the task at hand, and it was thought that a transfer to the more dangerous LAPD would help give the young man the experience needed to unlock his full potential. It worked a treat, and since then Fred has been working his way up the ranks, steadily. He is now in line to become the next Head of Police, and thanks to his suave-yet-strong character, he is expected to be both a fine Policeman and great entrepeneur in the realms of advancing the Police force to new heights in the coming years.
Specialty: More of a talker than a fighter, Fred has experienced more than his fair share of hand-shaking and back-slapping with prestegious local figures. But that is not to say he hasn't experience the tought beats of LA street crime. Fred was a key target in bringing down one of the ringleaders of a local gang, his undercover work and smart-talking allowing him to get close to the man, close enough to be invited to his private home, and then his martial arts skills ensured the Fred disarmed and arrested the perp with no spilt blood or lost lives.
Mitochondrial power(if applicable): It is not yet proven, but there are suspicions that factors other than a good metabolism have allowed Fred to lead such a physically active life after a terrible injury at a young age.
Starting Weapon(s): Although not a gun-freak, Fred is always packing - handguns and gang-guns (such as sawn-off Shotguns, AK-47s etc) are his speciality due to extensive undercover work.

Description: 173 lbs / 5'11 ft; Sandy brown hair with grey/blue eyes; Dain is a serious agent that always pushes his assignments until completion, but he is also known to be very fun to be around. His quick wit and sarcasm are usually used to help get himself and others through tough situations.
Background: Dain was taught how to shoot by his two uncles at a young age, starting with 9mm pistols and working up to powerful rifles and shotguns. He also breezed through school, including 2 years of college, before he put in an application to the FBI. He was immediately accepted after his accuracy and aptitude tests, and moved into the field at the age of 21.
Specialty: Short-range and close combat; Considers himself to be a master of pistol/handgun battle, as he is usually a deadly shot and has one of the highest field ratings in the FBI; Trained in Ju Jitsu and Aikido

and btw Dan's fighting styles are, Jiu Jitsu, Kali, kendo, Ha Dong Gum Do, kungfu, and good old fashioned brawling. he is not a master of any of these by any means, he just combines what he knows from all of them into one conglomerate freestyle. He is a deadly fighter

I find this thread to have quite a potential for a great time. I’d hate to see it dwindle away without a fight so here is my contribution.

Name: Oleena, Vyomini (Known simply as: Vee)

Classification: Government (MIST)

Age: 20

Description: White hair, pale skin, startlingly bright glacial blue eyes. She’s always of two opinions on most any subject and this frustrates her to no end. Because of this she’s always unpredictable and more of a danger than a comfort to those around her.

She likes activity, the more difficult the more enjoyable, and can often be found power tumbling, running (never jogging or walking for exercise), hiding in the masses of martial arts practitioners, swimming and the likes. As long as she can throw herself into it head first and come out completely exhausted in the end.

With her long powder snow colored hair cascading about her in large barrel curled ribbons, large luminous blue eyes and her sleek physique it is a wonder why guys don’t spear her off her porch with want but the truth is that she’s hard to get close to. You may hold a friendly conversation with her everyday but you’ll still be two arm’s lengths away from her.

She’s cold as a result of the mysterious death of her sister. A death that mercilessly haunts her in the quite nights.

Background: There are rumors that some people actually knew Vee before the death of her sister. When she laughed freely and loved everyone without reservation. It’s rumored that she toiled daily for the community and possibly led the celebrity school’s cheer squad. However, they are butt suspicious rumors that may or may not have some truth to them.

Specialty: She’s a hellacious marksman and fighter but her specialty is intuitive reconnaissance. She just knows things about the NMC’s that tend to catch people off guard and question how or why.

Mitochondrial power(if applicable): She can “feel” NMC’s (The makings of a possible “bad guy”) and manipulate atoms in a manner that allows her to alter the speed of things around her.

You see, I’m not an expert in guns so I thought you guys would make more sense of it than I did. I just like how the gun looks and the fact that it only shoots one bullet.

But, sadly for the company, I'm not advertising, lol.
 
i've honestly never heard of it, and it's not on the site i used as reference...of course, that site is far from complete, there are guns i know of that aren't listed on it
 

I’ve never heard of it until I searched for a long ranged pistol. My eyes fell on a particularly unique looking picture of a pistol, with a rather intimidating barrel, and I started reading.

I provided the website if you are curious but it isn’t anything major.

well, as many as possible would be nice...i figure there would be multiple MIST teams, plus the police and military and some civilians....that's why i'd prefer each person to take on at least 2 characters
