Howdy <farmer's grin>

let me plant a seed and watch it grow ...

This has been on my mind all week and I told my
self I'd throw it out into the world of lit this weekend
for more views or ideas or even to possibly get the
ball rolling ... so here it is!

Valentines is coming ...
what more passion do you need than an
erotic writing forum to flare up the septor ...
to sprout the first bud, to punch a hole into
existance pushing away earth and rising.

Lits forum of Poetry Feedback and Discussion
arena is a wirlpool of threads that shine and dim
as the sun rises then falls, so a thread is started
and the thread would say be called ...
valentines day challenge or contest...

each person is allowed to vote or nominate a
poem in this thread between now and said day.
feb 15 all nominations tallied from public forum
post. the poem with the most nominations wins.

heres the prize <grin>

at first I was going to arrange a small cash
winning but then it hit me the troll/ slash poitics
of generating winning tatics come to play, so to
keep it honest and honorable in the sense that
the prize will be ...

King of the hill ...
(so to speak! )
a passing of the septor ...
king/queen for one month

(created by the previous winner)
this intails a thread dedicated to the winning
poem and poet, a interact so to speak only
it's more a passing of the responsability of ...

starting the next monthly contest thread,
tally those public nominations on that thread
and announce the winner with a 'WINNER'
Thread, and thus the ball continues for each
month, and the months that have several
holiday or it gets confussing, the final say will
be the previous winners responsability to make
the last call, presidents come and go.

I'm not real sure if this idea is interesting to
any one else but if you have an idea to make this
idea better I'm all ears. If the response is great and
the ball gets rolling great, count me in <grin>

okay heres a reHASH~
(guideline)

Jan 14 a thread is started...

(1)Valentines day contest,
A COLLECTIVE THREAD FOR VOTING ON ANY POEM POSTED
ON LITEROTICA BY Feb 14 2005
an example post :

I nominate
anna's ... passion swirls

(feb 15, all nominated / votes for a poem
on the public forum thread valentines day contest
are tallied by previous winner and ...

Feburary
(2) "Winner" "King" "Queen" the
"paramount poet" ... a thread is
started by the previous winner announcing
the winner and the passing of the literary septor
this poet and poem is limelighted on this thread
for discussion of the poem and its creation, its
illuminating feel, it's content, it's month of fame.

(3) the winner then has the responsibility
of creating the next contest, in the next month...

March
Easter poem contest ...etc

April
April showers poem contest

May
May flower a poem contest ...

bla bla bla etc...

the frequent forum posters seem to have a
grand way of helping out if any need be <grin>

"WELL ... what do you think?"

any poem? from the beginning of lit? or from the current month? last few months? wow there are SO MANY!!!

does it need to be on the topic? so feb is passion?

hmm.

this could be an interesting sociological experiment.

I better go write that passion swirls poem quick.

Suggestion: have a time for nominations. Then close nominations and open a new thread with a poll so that you can make the tallying easy.... lit will do the calculations for you. You could even have it set up so somenoe could vote multiple times if they like more than one poem on the list. I know it is hard for me to choose.

Competition makes me nervous. I don't like it. I want everyone to get smilie face stickers that smell good when you scratch them.

I used to get sick before every swim meet.

Does that mean that the poems nominated must be originally posted here, in this forum?

Wait a minute. Did anna just win? I thought the contest didn't start yet.

Just kidding. :D

Art, how about making it anonymous--people can pm you the poem, you assign them a number and you submit the poem by number? I like the idea of taking names out of it until the winner is chosen. What do you think? (Just a suggestion.)

wow love the poll Idea, didn't dawn on me about
their useage being very valuble in this type
interaction and calculations and fairness, but I truely
like the idea of one vote per person, therefore no
multiple votes accumilate a certain poets write

which brings me to angelines idea, I really like the
idea of sending the poem in to the current winner
or moderator for that month, means a bit more
work but makes it more interesting not knowing whos
poem is whos and fairness would shine there.

I like the ideas...

yes I thought when Jan 14 gets here of
making the thread... passion? hehehe 'NO'

Valentines Day contest

then any poem written /posted after that
till Feb 14 (posted/sent PM and given number
and put into thread for views from
jan 14 to feb 14 one month)

but this conflicts with the not knowing who
the poet is.......hummmmmmmm tappin forhead.

Okay ... cool

now how do those poll things work?
guess Ill need to read and play with those
huh? hehehe

can they be added to ... like a numbered
list of poems for this endevor?

or make it once and and no revisions?

and topic?

valentines day topic (love) (cupid)
or should a certain day not be used,
open form or content
like feburarys poem march's poet winner is ...
may's choice in the poem contest ...
june etc....

well this is a great question...

to do as grasshopper suggests
the poems would be sent to the moderator
for that month and they could be poems
not ever posted it will be put on a thread
for voting on but no I don't see where it
would have to be posted on lit,

and would be where the numbered poems
would conceal the poets name unless they
were posted on Lits poems list and recognized???

I am confused

not submitted as a post on lit's
new poems list or archieves but
to the thread / contest cordinator

the thread starting the monthly contest
will ask for the poems for that month and be
posted on that thread for viewing and voting

I am sure this will go through some reform
trial and error (hopeful that insight forsees these but...)
that's why I ask for ideas and or better guidelines.

so far...

a THREAD will be constructed
example: "Paramount Poem contest"

all entry's PM'd to thread starter, ( previous winner)

they will be posted on the thread as a poem entry
with poet being assigned a number, nominations
for winners/votes will be ... "I vote for number 11's
poem," the poem with the most votes wins then the
previous winner or moderator starts a THREAD

Winner of Paramount Poem contest, annoucing
the winner and the literary septor is passed to
the winner who is limelighted about their poem
and the poet's reasons or feelings for writing it.

any poem can be entered, old new, as long as
poet is writer of said poem...

the winner gains the Paramount Poem statis
and the responsability of generating the next
contest the next month and so on...

if these become a problem then myself and
other/previos winners will surely help fill in
and help the winners with any questions to
keep the "King of the hill" poetry thread forum
circulating...

maybe...it could happen...<grin>

I can't follow all this shit....

I'll read it again when I'm drunk or something
It'll all make sense then
:D

Hurry up and get drunk, Tath! LOL

Seems to be shaping up into an interesting project, but there are a couple of things that make me wonder.

Do you think it should be tried as a "one-shot" trial for this Valentine's day? I can foresee some logistical problems in making it monthly. Valentine's Day makes for a pretty straightforward theme, custom-made for romantic poetry and so on, but what's next? St. Pattie's Day? And then what? Easter? Spring? Juneteenth? Summer Vacation? (4th of July doesn't fall mid-month...) Back to School for August?

Also, the idea of "passing the scepter" to the previous month's winner seems like a dubious prize, to me. There might be something nicer. :)

Other than those mild worries, it seems like a nice idea. Just need to compile guidelines and rules, and edit/collaborate until they're clear.

Can someone give me the digested version of what's going on here? Cuz I don't follow.

Short lines please, like to a 5 y.o. :)

You missed the av that I had up for a few hours. I decided it was too spread and vulgar. Of course, now that "master" has walked away after 5 years, I can do whatever I please. I can show any body part I please. I can talk to anyone I please and say anything I want! Oh, I can't wait to write a valentines poem!
