Considering getting the ParaGard Intrauterine Copper Contraceptive. If there are any women who are using or have used ParaGard (copper) could you share your experiences and give your opinion on it? If you don't mind sharing, how long have you used it, etc.

I have never used an IUD, especially a metal one. I talked to my dad , who is a doctor, about it as an option once, and he said I should never use one. He says that there is a risk of the IUD perforating the uterine lining, especially the metal ones, and that can lead to bleeding and infection. Also, an IUD works by keeping the uterine lining too irritated for an egg to implant, and that can cause long term fertility issues down the road. For me personally, I think life begins when the egg and sperm join, so birth control that doesn't prevent that, but prevents implantation afterward, causes a moral issue for me.

I have heard something similar. I would suggest you do more research before you make a decision.

No

Nothing medical to impart BUTT

duiring doggie early one morning I hit a IUD and near tore the top of ma dick off - felt like it anyway. We BOTH bled for hours and were going to go to emerg when it stopped. Not a lot of blood and I only had a cut the size of a quarter ... more like a deep scratch but DAMN ... NOT expecting TEEETH in there if ya knows what I mean. Scared the beegeezus out of us and she had it removed soon after.

Besides that it's my understanding that the copper ring maintains a low grade infection that doesn't allow the egg to be fertilized. Correct? Close?

ANyway it gave her cunny a really weird copper metal taste too so between tasting like a friggin CYBORG she might as well have had teeth up there too.

NOT a fun memory although she was sweet girl ....

Yikes! I was told that they are supposed to be pretty soft so as not stab like that. That is quite scary. I wonder how often this happens and if it also happens with the mirena iud?
