I know I don't write much ... I'm a lazy ass ... but I have a teck-nickel question anyway.

What's the wordcount for a typical paperback page? Or, better yet, the character count?

Tx

The answer is:

'How long is a piece of string?'

It depends on the publisher's house rules, the font and typesize, and the genre.

A rough approximation is 250 words per page.

A piece of string is fifteen strands of string. Duh.

Okay ... let's say ... Terry Pratchett's paperback novels issued by Corgi. How many characters would that be? Anybody have a clue?

(BTW - tx - will hold onto your rough approxy)

The Coming Together anthologies (5x8 paperbacks) have approximately 310 words/page ... with Century Schoolbook font in 10pt.

NaNo's guidelines said that 50,000 words roughly add up to a 175-page novel, so... multiply that by 2, and... *grabs head*

Fuck, I shouldn't have tried to web surf with a migraine. :p

My paperback Elizabeth Grey - 420 pages set at 11pt, 149,790 words, 659,223 characters without spaces ( 801,381 with spaces) and 8,234 paragraphs and 17,011 lines!
Enough statistics for you? :)

My book is paperback. 480 pages. 176,000 words. But now for the important stats. I found these on Amazon and I like it.

Fuck- on 163 pages - 256 occurrences

Fucking- on 206 pages - 311 occurrences

Shit- on 13 pages - 182 occurrences

Words per Dollar: 7,975
Words per Ounce: 9,272
