One of the complaints I have heard out of women who are victims of panty thievery is that underwear costs too much to replace after being stolen. Therefore, is it proper etiquette to replace stolen panties with new panties of equal or greater value?

Umm, its proper etiquette not to steal someones panties.

Well of course it is not proper etiquette to steal but my girlfriend in college used to complain about it happening all the time when she would do her laundry in the basement of the dorm. I've heard many complaints and not many solutions!

Common sense dropped like a bomb down the smokestack!

It's simple. Tell her to

a) stop washing them in public
b) wait while the wash is being done

It will take what, 30-45 minutes for a load. Read a book, talk, do work.

Or she could wear big old lady bloomers that you would need to pay someone to steal, or none at all and eliminate the issue all together

only posting to giggle about the word "Bloomers" .. lolol

and to say i've never had my panties stollen.

I suspect that someone once stole one of my thongs as kind of a "trophy," but I've never been able to prove it. I suppose if I'd been wearing bloomers it wouldn't have happened. :)

I might find them under the bed or nightstand if I ever move the furniture, but I doubt it.

It's kind of juvenile.

Yes, well that's because I live to far away to effectively try to steal them. Otherwise.....................>:)

I lived in a sorority house when I was in college. Didn't have issues with anyone stealing my panties.

Did lose a pair once that were taken as a trophy. Sucked too, because they were part of a matching bra/panty set. Thankfully, Frederick's still carried them. Had to buy a new pair so that hubby wouldn't ask questions.

I've had several things stolen...shirts, bras, panties; but I think many times they were taken by women, either on purpose or accidentally. I'd think the bestthing to do (apart from NOT stealing) would be to replace the item(s) with as close of a match as possible, leaving the tags on so the victim knows it is new and can exchange it if something's wrong with it. A note of apology would be nice as well. At least that'd make me feel the best about the whole situation probably.

Not being a woman, i cant say that ive ever had my panties stolen.

No one really wants my boxers, so..... well you can draw that conclusion.

However, being a soft top jeep owner, i can say that i've had many other things stolen from me. (and i just couldnt resist posting in a thread titled Panty Etiquette)

My solution to getting things stolen, in a curcumstance where they could get stolen again, is either a) Dont replace them, if you can live with out them (in this case, Dont wear panties? ;) ). Or B) Replace them with the cheapest replacement i can find, therefore if it were to get stolen again, it wouldnt be as big a loss.

That suggestion about keeping an eye on your unmentionalbes while theyre being washed was a good one too. Personally i'd like to think more bout the "dont wear panties" idea. :)

If not as a trophy

why would other women steal panties? I mean would they actually wear someone else's panties...albiet washed???

I like the note of apology idea. It seems very cordial. I agree that the most polite action would be to replace the piece of clothing with a new one. Perhaps then panty thieves would not hurt the victim financially. Really, someone should post some unspoken rules and regulations of panty theft, if anyone has some ideas.

If anything, I feel its more of a violation than a finacial problem...Some pervert stealing your underwear to use?
I mean, a mistake is understandable. You do sometimes buy the same underwear as someone else; and then, yes, an apology note and a monetary reimbursement ('cause buying someone you don't know new panties is a little odd) - if you know who it was accidently taken from.
But, if you took them on purpose; well, thats just wrong and sick. I wouldn't want to be contacted by someone saying "Sorry I stole your panties to jerk off in, heres $10 for the priviledge."

This makes me so glad our house has a washer and dryer...I've never had a problem with missing panties, even when I lived in a dorm with a common laundry room my freshman year. Huh. I'd think it'd be common sense not to leave wash unattended in a laundrymat, if only because clothes can bring in a decent bit of money at a resale shop (and I'm not just talking about panties).

As for panty-stealing etiquette...I'd have to agree with what others have said and just not steal them in the first place :)

You sure she is having them stolen and not accidently leaing them on someon else's floor? Just a possability
