My new story just posted on page 2.

Is that common these days?

I also noticed two others on page 1 dated tomorrow.

Anyone know what is going on?

PS- On the positive side it only took two days to post.

My stories always seem to post on one night... with the next days date on them. Which means, your story probably was on page 1 on the day before it says it was actually posted.

That would make sense, Crim.

But I didn't see it yesterday, and I only submitted it Monday. There are a lot of stories with today's date that are posted on page 2.

I had never seen it happen before and just wondered if anyone knew what was going on.

I haven't posted anything new in awhile but that's happened to me too, more than once. Straight to page 2 because a couple newbies decided to post nearly a dozen stories each. My story only got a few thousand views those first days. I won't hijack your thread into my own personal rant.

Laurel told me a few days ago that there have been 120+ submission per day. They can't all fit on the first page, can they? ;)

No problem with the hijack, this has about played out all it's going to anyway, nu. It is just that about half of the second page today is filled with today's stories and there are two on the first page with tomorrow's date.

I had just never seen it happen before. Lit must be swamped with submissions.

I think there are more people writing the stuff than are reading it.

Looks like you can fit a lot inside your top, maybe you could offer some suggestions.

The only thing I know for sure is that the date stamp on posted stories comes from the server clock and that is in the US Pacific time zone. Since the new stories are post around midnight, the process sometimes started early or runs late so that stories posted in the same update often have different dates -- depending on what time zone you're in, that might include "tommorow" until your time zone catches up with PDT. Unlike the forums, the date/time isn't adjusted for the users' time zones.

If the server's clock is off by a day, the story will still get stamped with the server's date/time and could cause some anomalies.

That's a disturbing policy change if it's permanent -- in the past Laurel has strung out multiple submissions by the same author over several days to avoid just such a complaint. In the past, she has also rationed surges in a single category over several days to maintain some variety on the new stories list.

If Lit has reached a steady level of 120 stories a day, the current method of setting New Story page lengths probably needs some tinkering to keep each day's postings together on the same page instead of breaking at a set number of stories.

No, I think that the policy that was in place (certainly the one that still is in place) refers only to stories of the same series. If you submit chapters 1 to 32 on the same day, Lit will only post one per day. But that's the extent of it. If you post 32 unrelated stories, they may very well post all at once - unless Laurel decides to hold some for variety sake.

One thing I have been noticing lately is that, occasionally, new batches of stories are being posted twice a day. I suspect that this is to allow every story to spend some time on the first page, even if only 10 or 12 hours.
