Hi everybody!
I know this is kind of a strange request, but please hear me out.
On June 12th, a friend and I will be participating in Paddle with Pride, a fundraising event for the LGBT Center, which is located in Manhattan (NYC). We will be in a two-person kayak for 24 miles along the Hudson River. It's a hell of an undertaking for me, but I've already started my training and together I know we can complete it.
The trick, though, is that to participate we need to raise $2000 between the two of us. That's where you come in. I'd like to ask for as much or as little as those of you reading this can give. Even just a few dollars will bring us towards our goal.
The LGBT Center sponsors a wide variety of events, ranging from 12-step meetings to workshops on everything from career strategies to astrology. Special programs at the center include Youth Enrichment Services, the Gender Identity Project, and many programs related to public policy, culture, and social services, as well as outreach, recreation, and research. The center also serves as a meeting place for more than 100 groups, from ACT UP to the Zappalorti Society.
I've created a page with more information: http://paddle.amanita.net
And if you donate, I'll tell you my full real name!
Thanks in advance for your consideration.
