Quick question... I've read the story guidelines regarding external links, but just for fun was thinking of posting a music link in the (author) comments after the end of the final chapter (after 21 chapters, I thought maybe there needs to be an end-credits outro roll, lol). So:

1. Does this break the rules if I link out to e.g. Spotify, given it's not to a blog or other website or ebook or any of the things covered in https://forum.literotica.com/threads/the-policy-on-referencing-ebooks.1532897/ ?
2. Has anyone ever tried it and was it just a car crash of an idea in the first place, i.e. entertaining vs wanky?

I've put links in my stories in forewords (mentioning if this is a sequel and the previous stories, to kindly let prospective readers know) and in my afterwords at the end. These were always internal links to other stories here on Lit or to my author page, which links to all of my stories. I've never had a rejection or issue with these.

Links (URLs, etc.) to external sites, not just ebook sites, seem to be resolutely disallowed in stories. But, it is allowed to have external links here in forum postings (e.g., many sigs have them) and on our author pages (to, e.g., Patreon or book links or such.) So as I understand it, even a Spotify link wouldn't be allowed in the story text, including fore- or afterword (you could try, I guess.) But, you could link to your author page and put the Spotify link(s) in your bio there.

As to have I tried? No. I use references to songs now and again (my 2020 Winter Holidays entry was built around Christmas songs), but I personally don't write or think in terms of soundtracks. I also don't have a writing life outside of here worth pointing to .

The site does not allow off-site links in stories, full stop.

The main reason, as I understand it, is that the site has no control over the contents of such a link. It might be benign content now, but could be changed to unacceptable content later.

Yeah, I get it. Malware, whatever.... okay, thanks for the response.

I can also imagine where Lit has strict content guidlines, i.e. the hard 18 rule or snuff, such links wouldn't necessarily comply. I don't know how the law works, but I'd assume it would eventually lead to a liability issue. Not to mention some sites and brands have stringent representation rules. I've heard that apple won't allow villians to be shown on screen brandishing "i products" but once again I don't know for sure.
