Just once, couldn't somebody besides me like country music?

Skibum, your not alone.

I think there are several of us on here that like country music, although I enjoy bluegrass and western music more than country.

*sorry, now back to your regularly scheduled thread*

On the other side, if you love good old swampy, pool hall blues, you might want to check out John Hiatt's new one,Crossing Muddy Waters. I got it 3 weeks ago and it's been in my stereo since.

ok...is "Fucking-A" the name of the band, or is that an explicative? I'm always looking for new tunes!

:)

Hey, not all country is bad. Blues is my fav, but I like Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash.....remember Boots Randolf? Didn't really like Tammy Wynette, and a few others, but there are a lot of good musicians. Folks like the new country, I don't know that well, Garth Brooks, etc. But Blues and Country have a lot in common.

Kid-A's awesome! You should check out the MIDIval Punditz. Their limited edition CD is available through skim.com. Nothing like Radiohead, but Radiohead fans might dig it.

No, baby! That was indeed an expletive. The band is Outkast. Their new record is "Stankonia". The first single "Bombs Over Baghdad" is blown out of the water by their second single "Ms. Jackson". Both videos are on MTV right now, and are the two most innovative videos in a long time. The album's fucking amazing from beginning to end. They said in an interview that they don't just keep it real, they keep it surreal.
Here's their site:

Also, I've recently discovered Guru. Where had he been all of my life? Any other Guru fans out there?

Sounds groovy!! Will most definitely check them out! :)

Yes!!! Stankonia is the bomb!!! I love that song Ms. Jackson. I hear that song is about one of the members breakup with singer Erica Badu.

Really? That's too cool! That song gives me the chills, it's so good. She's amazing also...

"I'm Sorry Ms. Jackson,
I Am For REEAALLL
Never meant to make your daughter cry..."

It's nice to know that I'm not the only hick around here. I like the Judds, Toby Kieth, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, the Forester Sisters, the Statler Brothers, Johnny Cash, George Strait, and a whole lot of others.

I also like classic (50's) rock and roll, the Beach Boys, old Elton John, Abba (sorry!), and really loud classical stuff (1812 Overture, William Tell Overture, etc.). Last night a friend dropped by with a CD of classic English ballads done in a 1960's folk style, and that sounded pretty good, too.

I used to be a college dj and throw the really good country tunes in with the expected alternative music of the early 80s. Being an old movie fan, "Whatever happened to Randolph Scott" was my fave but any George Jones was great. I remember seeing Elvis Costello in concert and he did about an hour of old country/talking blues tunes like "I Got The Picture (and He's Got You)". It was like heaven to someone who grew up on these tunes and knew they weren't all bad. And I remember ol' Yakkety Sax himself, Boots Randolph.

As far as modern country, I love Mary Chapin Carpenter, Steve Earle, and Lyle Lovett but can't get there with Faith Hill, Shania, etc.
