There are a lot of threads on here about being out to your wife, husband, or being out in general. My question is are you out to your parents?

I came to the United States when I was 14 with my parents and became a citizen last year. I never came out to my parents until I was in college and away from home. My dad being a devout Muslim disowned me and has not spoken to me since. My mother don't understand me and will only talk to me when she knows dad can't find out or catch her.

I came out to them over the phone because I knew if I did it in person dad would have beat me senseless.

What was it like when you came out to your parents?

Shit, that really sucks. I'm sorry to hear your parents are so cruel about it. I realize it's a religious issue, but...wow. I'm sorry. Congratulations on the citizenship, though!

I came out to my parents over the phone, too. Turns out they already knew. I asked them, "don't you have any questions? don't you want to talk about it?" They were like "ummm...nope...it's cool with us."
