So I was out shopping and course people watching. This idea came into my head while watching this younger couple. Part of my thought was wrong, but while it is wrong it does open the door. I could tell the couple was having cash flow issues and I could see them accepting an offer from a Robert Redford type of man, where he wanted some sexy companion and her husband would be their driver. He would purchase clothes and toys for them, help them with their foreclosed house, and things….not sure where things would go.

I like the idea…hate the times we live in…and hate that this story has a negative vibe….but it will have a happy ending. Any thoughts?

This really could be a modern day Faustian tale. The rich man offering all sorts of gifts and luxuries, convincing the couple that essentially turning the wife into a whore wouldn't be that bad, and at the very last minute having the couple reject the offer, give back the gifts and recommit themselves to each other.

Could be kind of dry, I wouldn't really know how to insert the messy naughty bits in there without it coming off a bit like the ending of Requiem for a Dream.

The trouble with a Faustian pact is that it is irrevocable.
Perhaps the key to this story is for the husband to discover a weakness in the rich man which he can exploit in order to try to win back his wife.

The "husband as the driver" angle is an interesting twist. It could start out as a simple business arrangement -- but I think playing around with the motivations beyond "offers of payment for sex" might also be interesting.

The wealthy businessman needs a lady companion to an event -- sex is not the first thing on his mind, and to prove his virtuous to the husband, he offers the driving job to the husband to chaperone.

The event goes well...all parties are happy with the arrangement. But the woman is intrigued...she has been given a vision into a world of glamor and wealth, and she likes it, she liked it when everyone looked at her on the arm of the wealthy, unattached bachelor...she enjoyed making the other women jealous of this new, beautiful entrant to their society.

The businessman begins to occupy her thoughts, she compares him to her unemployed husband, she starts to fantasize about him. It does not help that he keeps calling for events and flirting more with her, making suggestions of seeing her, she wants to say yes but has promised her husband that he would be there on each "date".

Finally, at one soiree, she can no longer resist the businessman's advances and she succumbs, hastily in a back room in the hotel. Returning home with the man, her husband driving the stretch limo, she and the businessman show and touch one another, just outside of the husband's glances in the mirror. The wall she has put up in her life now starts to crumble.

How it ends? I don't know...in my conception I don't think it ends very well! In the Hollywood version, it'd turn out that the business man is both morally and financially bankrupt -- even worse off financially than the couple.

I like this development. How this ends could possibly be the husband finding out, the couple working things out and they later decide to get vengeance on the wealthy bastard together. For example, they could wait until a really important meeting and all of the wealthy guy's influential friends would see him get dumped or cheated on with his poor driver (the husband). Imagine his reputation once all of his business partners catch "HIS" wife fucking HIS driver in HIS limo.

Perhaps a little predictable and 'warm' endings are a little Walt Disney for me
How about the rich guy's regular squeeze (neglected by him for the poor guy's wife) falls for the wife??????????
