This may seem really stupid but.......

Mrs. Spark's and I, marveling at Spark junior's two baby teeth - wondered - (and did not know the answer).......

Are we human's the only mammal who has baby teeth to loose before gaining permanent teeth????

Sorry - we have pretty good education's and this has never come up.......

Seems dumb not to know such a thing. Anyway - let's hear it, what's the scoop?

Good question Sparky,,, I just don't know for sure though,,,

ANOTHER pothole in my eduction still to be filled is all I can say.

I know my boys (the dogs) had, and lost, there "puppy" teeth.

Although humans tend to be the least precoscious of all the animals I don't think we are alone in that aspect.

Thanks for the project this morning Sparky I am a reseacher junkie. Here is what I found and the site I found it at:

In addition, mammals are diphyodont, with two sets of teeth throughout the life cycle.

Trust us sweetie Cute is a good thing but then hey I think chest hair is too.

Hey Exp????

Who are they named after????

You could call them, collectively speaking - R&D. Research and Developement.

Hah!

Rudy is named after his charachter. He was very rude as a pup. The first time I picked him up at the breeders he promptly belched in my face.

Dylan is after Dylan Thomas my granddads favorite author and someone he was always quoting. One of his sisters was named Sonnet so I figured I would continue the literary theme.

I'm not sure, but I believe that gorilla's also have baby teeth to lose. I think I remember watching an expo where the mother's actually chew the baby's food when they lose their teeth. But again, I could be wrong. But I know my kitty <Spastic Claws or Spaz for short, lost her baby teeth not too long ago (Thank God)>

Cats also have a set of baby teeth, including baby fangs, that they lose.
