Like any other siblings, fraternal twins may look very similar, particularly given that they are the same age. However, fraternal twins may also look very different from each other. They may be different sexes or the same sex. The same holds true for brothers and sisters from the same parents, meaning that fraternal twins are simply brothers and/or sisters who happen to have the same age.

As a result two baby girls were born as fraternal twins in the Ororon family household; one Kirei and the other Keidle. Both beautiful by any standards have striking ruby eyes that generally show their likeness but outside of that they are quite different both in looks and personality. Where Keidle the older brunette sister is studious and quite the work-a-holic her counterpart the blonde fun-loving and wildchild Kirei is very much over the top. Despite this the two are never found too far from the other. Preferring to stay close and deal with the other's short comings rather than be left in the world alone.

It was only by chance that such a thing would happen as a sudden accident involving their loving parents left the two girls somewhat orphaned. Though they were of legal age their hearts and minds were not in the right state to sustain their selves alone. Thankfully the twins were not the only addition to such a family as they had an older brother of fifteen years in Mathis Ororon who lived on his own.

Upon word of their parent's death both the girls and their brother would meet for the first time as their parent's had never told the girls of their older brother due to his interest in the streets and gang related activities.

As the story unfolds we break away to reveal the happenings taking place currently...

Funeral / Reading of the Will

It was a long service to be sure. Closed casket, the bodies were unsalvagable during the accident. Damn drunk drivers, didn't they have enough with ruining people's lives already? Keidle Ororon the oldest of the Ororon twins was stading at the base of her parents closed caskets. She was quite certain that Kirei would be nearby shortly.

All of it happened so suddenly. One minute she had sent her parents out with well wishes and later that day a phone call from work had dropped her to her knees. A fellow coworker had to bring her home and tuck her into bed.

Following that the days were long and hard. Nothing seemed to register save for the nights spent crying with her sister in the massive lonely house. How could they ever take care of each other in such a state, neither wanted to work or go to school. Despite that, Keidle was always the studious one adamant about getting the grade ... but with such knews it had taken her quite a bit of strength just to get out of bed and force her sister to do the same.

All until the funeral had been arranged. Her parents were key to making sure such arrangements would never fall in their hands, and as such the funeral had gone off without a hitch. All those invovled had done their part while the girls grieved. As she stepped away from the casket Keidle saw her sister coming up to stand before their parents. She knew it would be hard for her sister but had no way of giving comfort other than being there.

The day had gone on from there with little to no awareness from Keidle. Her mind in shambles her thoughts swimming with unshed emotions. She had bumped into many people, of them a tall tanned young man with dark hair and ruby eyes... for a moment they struck her oddly. She could see their mother's trademark ruby eyes but instantly it had brought her out of her revverie and into a fit of tears.

She had to excuse herself from the young man and was certain her sister would be right on her heels. If not it didn't matter the girl always knew where she would be. At this time it was the gazeebo that their parents had gotten them when they were little. A secret hide away despite it being in plain site... where was the funeral? In their backyard, a rather large one considering the wealth they had obtained over the years. The house was no less impressive either but with such a thing responsibilities were abundant there was just no way the two girls could even hoped to manage such a large home.

------
About a week later the girls would be called downtown to go over their parents will. In it they were given full custody over the house, in both their names. Keidle had not use for such a big house and offered to give it to her sister, "You can have it." she said though it was more likely they would both keep partical claim until one or the other was proposed to. A note was given to each girl which pretty much said the same thing:

"Don't cry babies, mama is always here with you."

That alone got Keidle into another fit of tears but she managed to wipe them away enough to be strong for Kirei. There was another letter but neither girl was given in and instead about ten minutes into the reading of the will a young man entered, dark hair and their mother's trade mark ruby eyes. "YOU!" Keidle finally let out remembering his face from the funeral.

"What are you doing here?" she questioned looking between the man and the family lawyer.

Sighing the lawyer stood to his feet coming over to shake the man's hand. "Mr. Ororon... I'm glad you could make it please have a seat."

"Ororon?"

"Please miss all will be explained." the lawyer said as he took his seat once more. Handing the letter to the young man he awaited his chance to read it before proceeding. Inside the letter simply stated:

"They are now your responsibility. Take care of my lovely daughters; your little sisters. Keidle and Kirei."

After making sure that the note was read completely the lawyer handed over a box. Inside was a video tape which Keidle took charge of placing in the VCR. "Geez ma, you think you'd come into the new age... " she half chuckled half choked.

Once the tape was in the lawyer started it up using the remote and handing it off to Keidle. "I will be in the hall." He stated and took his leave allowing the girls and this mystery man to partake of the video.

On the screen was their mother in the throws of childbaring. Keidle grimmaced but continued watching as their father clumpsily tried to keep up with all the commotion in the delivery room. "Come on baby smile for the camera."

"Fuck you... you did this to me, you did..." their mother huffed as she breathed in and out trying to follow the doctor's instructions. "I'm going to kill you." she shouted over the doctor who laughed but kept his cool.

Within moments a head popped out of her vaginal wall and then a shoulder... the camera went dead. For five minutes then it turned back on and there they would see their mother holding a little baby. "Look there... this is our first born. Isn't he a beauty. Lets call him..Mathis. Mathis Ororon." After which the tape played for a while with the parents enjoying their first born.

Again the tape went out and for a while it was nothing but static. Soon after it flickered on again and a tear stressed mother was on the screen. "Mathis don't think I don't love you any more than I already do. I had to make this choice and I hope you understand that its for your own good. I do hope you will forgive me and try to keep in touch." In the background shouting could be heard between Mathis and his father as a door slammed and a car starting then peeling out of the drive and down the road. The camera went dead again...

Static for a while and yet another childbaring moment. Only this time two baby girls were given birth; one in the mother's arm and the other in the father's arm. "My baby girls, Kirei and Keidle." After which the screen went blank again only to show both parents sitting serenly.

"As you may have guess you are all of our children. Mathis, Keidle and Kirei. Why we have kept this secret is for the better good of all of you. Mathis I trust you are doing better these days. Last we spoke you kicked your drug habits and are no longer dealing with gangsters. I'm very proud of you too, got a job and even a home for yourself. And you are very much the splitting image of your father...."

The was a moment of silence then once again their mother spoke, their father got up and was in the background fumbling with something. "Honey stop that we are trying to make a will."

"This thing is fuzzy."

"It is not sit down."

"Hold on let me fix the stand the camera looks like its falling.." with that the camera did and went blank. Fuzzy screen for five minutes then their father was in front of the camera adjusting it. "See I told you if I hadn't caught it..."

Their mother sighed but smiled as she tried to continue all whilie their father was still tinkering with the camera. "Anyway girls you are probably wondering who the young man is with you. He is your older brother Mathis Ororon. He hasn't been in the house for a long time. An incident involving some horrible choices on his part prevented his returning and being their for your birth. However he wasn't without being apart of your lives... if you recall he was always at your birthday parties, always at events and so on. We simply were unsure of how to introduce him to you." She paused as their father took over.

"In actually son. We were ashamed of ourselves for not letting you all be together. And again we can only be ashamed that you would meet in such a way. At any rate, take care of the girls, we want you to move into the house, use the money left behind to carry on your school girls. Do what you must to become a family... are only regret is not doing this ourselves while we had the chance. The family lawyer will set up everything you need so please refer to him however you need. And try not to cry so much we are in a better place." Their father smiled as did their mother who took over again.

"Though we all now that heaven might not be ready for such a clumspy Mr. Fix it. But don't tell him that." eventually the two began to bicker in their usual way playful and loving before the camera went out again and the tape ended.

With all that had transpired Keidle had nothing to say as she sat back in the chair eyeing who was to be her brother and then turning to her sister for any answers she might give.

What were they suppose to do now?

Kirei wiped away a tear from her eye, putting her hand into her pocket as a solemn look came over her face. She was normally a very happy person, able to smile and laugh at anything that came her way. But now... it seemed like everything had been stripped from her possession. She could remember those nights that followed after the accident... dark and empty they were. Full of pain and misery. She shuddered just thinking about them.

Her ruby red eyes looked down at the caskets, their lids shut and sealed. But Kirei didn't have to read the cards and labels to know that her parents lay inside them, sleeping for all eternity. How she wished that she could join them! But one look from her sister as she stood near brought Kirei back to reality. It wasn't her time to go.

With a sigh Kirei turned to head inside, but she paused when a strong hand fell down on her shoulder. She glanced up to look into the face of someone she didn't even know. A friend of the family, perhaps. Shrugging him off she turned around and started off towards the house, catching a glimpse of her sister as she made her way to the gazebo. Kirei followed her, remaining silent with her hands tucked into her pockets.

She had to be strong for her sister... they both had to be strong for each other.

===

Kirei had watched the tape with feelings of confusion... and more confusion. It was hard to see her parents so alive on the tape, knowing full well that they were no longer with them. But what was even harder to grasp was their story that they told. Though the situation had been explained, that she and her sister had a brother they never knew growing up, it still didn't register at first. Her loving parents had kept a secret they felt ashamed to hold. But everyone has secrets, so she couldn't blame them for that. But with this revelation Kirei was unsure how to handle it without expressing some frustration. Her eyes looked first at her sister as she sat in a chair opposite her, then shifted over towards her apparent 'brother' as he too sat nearby.

"Don't expect me to start liking you." she said coldly, a bit over-the-top as it were. Kirei had always been one to voice her opinion. She was a caring person at heart, but she had this side to her personality that gave her an outspoken voice. Having had enough of the silence, Kirei stood up onto her feet and left the room, making her way into their large and furnished kitchen.

Without even thinking, Kirei opened up one of the cupboards and fetched herself a glass. She flicked the water faucet on and poured some of the clear liquid into the container, quickly downing the cold water. Setting it down she looked out the window that overlooked their yard. The grass seemed fairly dark and cold, but that was only due to the clouds blocking out the sun. The days seemed to have grown cold, as of late.

Walking back into the room with Mathis and her sister, Kirei turned her attention from the television to Keidle.

"Can I talk to you in the kitchen, alone?" she said, adding a particular emphasis on the last word, her ruby red eyes locked onto her dark haired sibling.

Keidle knew things would turn out this way. A long lost brother suddenly appears and they were suppose to be elated about it? Loose parents gain antoher sibling is that it? She glared just as wearily at this Mathis person as Kirei but she wasn't as cold about the situation either.

There was always a level of respect and responsibility that seemed to follow Keidle no matter where she went. At times like these she suspected her mother to whisper in her ear telling her to be strong. So strong she would be.. for now.

When Kirei left the room she sighed glaring at her sister's back. The silence between herself and Mathis could be cut with a knife an then some. It was thick and unavoidable. "I must apologize this is all too... sudden as you would imagine." she said trying to find reason and poise. There really was none but she had not obligations to this man and he truly had none to them so why now of all times were they expected to be in his care? They were of legal age both budding girls of 18 years. They both had jobs and classes at the local university. They were fine. As fine as anyone could be. So what was the point of having this man around?

She could hear her sister in the kitchen obviously as confussed and upset as herself. When Kirei returned she imagined the girl would be ready to take action. She was wrong however as she needed a private moment.

Standing Keidle bowed politely, "Excuse us a moment." She spoke calmly but there was definately a hint of worry and perhaps resentment though maybe not for their brother but for the situation. It was all too sudden.

When they finally reached the kitchen Keidle whirled around rather abruptly. "What the hell?! I can't believe our parents would do something like this. Not telling us about him. I mean what are we suppose to do now? He's an eyesore and complete waste of our time and he'll diter my future plans for sure if he thinks he has any say in who I date from this point on. I can't stand it..." It was an outburst typical of Keidle who was often polite in front of people she didn't know or like for that matter. In this case only her sister had a real glimspe into the woman she truly was: a tiger of an asshole and major league bitch.

Kirei smiled over at Mathis before she excused herself, Kiedle following suit. Making her way to the kitchen, the young blond remained silent until she was sure they were out of hearing distance. She still wasn't sure how to handle the situation but in order to get her sisters real opinion they had to be alone. That was the only time their true feelings came to bear.

"It's not like Mom and Dad haven't ever pulled out surprises before. But I'm not exactly thrilled about having him in the house, either."
she said.

"But I don't plan on listening to what he has to say anyway. I say we just do what we've been doing, and if we give him the cold shoulder long enough he'll just go away on his own. I mean they said he was in some gang, right? What the hell are we supposed to do if his friends come looking? It's not like they're just going to let him stop being a supporting member." Kirei said, folding her arms over her body.

"But I don't think we can just kick him out. Though I do agree he's kind of an eye-sore. she added, picking up her glass from earlier and pouring some water into it.

"I don't know Kirei I'm not liking this but the best we can do for now is hear him out. Maybe he's eager to return to his lifestyle anyway. If that's the case I surely won't stop him and I know you're on this with me.. lets just see what he has to say for now." Keidle offered looking over her shoulder to the door. She almost expected him to enter and start making demands.

Sighing, Keidle grabbed a glass from the cupboard as well filling it with some juice from the fridge. Taking a sip she watched her sister over the lip of the glass. When she was done taking her share she smirked slightly. "Though you gotta admit he's damn gorgeous... geez I wonder if that was how dad looked back in the day. Mom did say he was the splitting image of dad right?" she wondered looking into the glass at the half empty contents. "Man that's gotta be sick. Thinking of him like that... but I guess its okay. I dont' acknowledge him and I won't not now or ever if I have anything to do with it. Maybe he might gain my acceptance but right now I'm not giving it to him. So that's settled. No matter what he's not our brother, are we agreed?" Keidle asked holding out her hand for her sister's approval of this new proposal.

Kirei grinned as she shook her sisters hand.

"Settled."
she said, retracting her hand before setting her glass down on the counter, a small bit of water still contained within.

"I still think he's a bit ruffled for my tastes, though. I mean... you think he has any other clothes besides the ones he's got on?" she asked, her eyes shifting from her sister to the side. With a shrug of her shoulders Kirei figured it was time they went back. Otherwise their 'brother' might start recking things. She sure didn't want him touching her personal belongings.

"Maybe we can have him sleep in the basement. Wait no... that's too well furnished. And I have some stuff down there I'd rather him not touch." she joked.

"Let's go back inside so you can oogle at our gorgeous friend." she said, teasing her sister a bit.

"Oogle? Who me...nah.. he is nice to look at but considering our circumstances I'm no longer interested." she huffed in mocking as they both decided it was best to hear him out.

Entering the room they found Mathis still sitting rather quietly and somewhat well mannered. Keidle wasn't sure what to make of this as she looked to her sister for any confirmation. Sighing it seemed they had no choice in the matter.

It was at this time the lawyer had returned having given them enough time alone. "My apologize I had a client on the phone. Where were we?" He questioned himself as he looked around in his briefcase. Finding nothing more than a single envelop he handed it off to which Keidle took.

Opening it was three rings. One she knew to belong to her father as his wedding band, the other their mother's engagement band and the other her wedding band. Keidle was tempted not to do the obvious thing but she heard her mother's voice. Handing their father's band to Mathis she couldn't help but speak. "I'm certain our parents wanted you to have dad's ring." she said putting emphasis on the fact that their parents belonged only to the girls.

She then turned to Kirei handing her mother's engagement band. "For you and I will dawn the wedding band." With that the lawyer smiled and bowed.

"I have nothing further to show you." He took his leave shortly thereafter leaving the siblings to finally comfront each other.

Mathis: Finding out

Hiro snatched up the phone on the fourth ring. "Yeah?" he shouted impatiently. "Who? Yeah, yeah, he's here. Hold on. Yo! Ororon!" Hiro held the phone up and gestured at it with eyes and shoulders to a tall young man in the middle of the pool hall.

Mathis took the phone and quietly listened to his parents' lawyer inform him of their accident and the need for him to return to their home. He shook his head lightly and reached over the counter to hang it up. "Thanks Hiro, give me a double, would you?"

He turned and rested against the bar while waiting for the drink and looked over the dimly lit room. "What's the matter?" asked Melanie. Mathis shifted his gaze to the waitress, eyes drifting briefly down to her long legs and back to her cute, if tired, face.

"What makes you think anything's wrong?"

"Mathis, I know people. I may not know you as well as I'd like, but I've never seen your eyes glisten quite like that."

He nodded and wiped the corners of his eyes on a cocktail napkin. "Yeah. My parents were in an accident. Doesn't sound good. I'm going to have to go see to things."

Melanie's own eyes saddened. "You need anything before you go?" She sort of bit her lip and stepped a little closer to Mathis.

He slipped an arm about her waist and pulled her the rest of the way to him. "Need? Not really. But want?" Mathis leaned over the shorter woman and nuzzled her neck. His breath was warm on her skin and he brushed her ear with his tongue as he whispered into it. "You know what I want."

Melanie nodded. She waved to Hiro and slipped off with Mathis into the night.

Mathis: The Funeral

Well, this is it. Hello House.

Mathis Ororon walked up to the grand mansion of his parents and silently made his way through the crowd of people milling about waiting for the funeral service to be held. It had seemed a little odd, at first, to be having the actual service here, but Mathis knew his dad was always someone to expect (and command) respect, if not fear, from people and had probably set it up years ago since no where else in town was really large enough for the volume of attendees sure to come by.

And he had been right, Mathis saw. You would've thought it was a wedding and not a funeral by the number of people at the service. And that was a small amount compared to that of all the people who had passed through the house prior for the viewing and to pay respects to the family.

Mathis tried to maintain a distance from his parents' daughters. While several older members of his father's business had stepped up to shake his hand and relay their sympathy, there were few who knew what his relationship had been to the deceased and Mathis was glad for that.

At one point, one of the girls had bumped into him and he'd been checking her out as he apologized before realizing who she'd been. There was something familiar, but it wasn't until he saw the glimmer of recognition in her face that he'd known it was Keidle.

He started to move after her to say something comforting, but she scurried off and he was intercepted by his parents' attorney. The lawyer wanted to doublecheck that he was sure about when and where the reading of the will would be. "Yes, I have all the information. Do I need to be present?"

"It's not required, no. But it is customary, and I have had a request left in their file to try and have all the children in attendance."

"Very well, I will be there."

"Good."

Mathis: The Reading

"Finally," Mathis said as he matched the numbers on the building before him with the slip of paper in his hand. He entered, found the office suite he needed, and spoke with the receptionist.

She had smiled, then became serious and all work-like on finding out why he was there. Mathis had laughed inwardly at the reaction, but then had let his own smile slip out and brought Paige back to the state of mind she'd been in before his arrival.

"Let me let them know you're here," Paige said and got up from her desk. "They're back in the big conference room, where the AV equipment is at, and it's not on the intercom system. Be right back." She hurried away, looking back as she turned the corner and blushing at the way Mathis was watching her walk.

Mathis laughed aloud once the receptionist was out of sight. He shook his head and sighed. Is it always so easy? Or have I wandered into something new? He looked at his watch. Not as bad as I thought, right around ten minutes. This town has changed since I lived here.

Paige reappeared. "Come right in. The double doors at the end of the hall."

-------

Mathis was a little taken aback by the Keidle's reaction to his appearance. And moreso at the lawyer's nonchalant way of introducing him, sort of off the cuff, as it were. He tried to get some bearing on either of the sisters' mood at learning whom he really was, but then just settled back to listen to the lawyer and watch the tape his parents had made for them.

Afterwards, the lawyer left them alone and then the girls left him alone, and Mathis just sat dumbfounded. Sisters? All those parties and events and everything and they were always my sisters?

Mathis had not been a large presence in his family's life due to what had happened that made him have to leave, but he had always thought that his mother had finally succumbed to her maternal instincts and that the girls had been adopted. But to discover that they'd been his actual sisters all these years....

He got up and walked to one of the windows. Naturally, being a modern office building it didn't open, but there was a vent for the climate control there and Mathis leaned on his hands over it, dangling his face in the cool air and trying to clear his mind.

It didn't help.

All he could think about was how cute the girls had seemed growing up. How hot they looked now that they were grown up. And how he'd been checking Keidle out at the house just recently.

Then they reentered the room and his eyes immediately tracked all four of their legs and both sets of hips, torsos, chests...and those entrancing eyes.
He brushed a hand back through his hair and then shook it back into place once more.

I have to live in the house with them? Great. I'm such a perv.

Mathis

Mathis recovered himself enough to sit back down and assume the same disinterested look he'd had throughout the lawyer's reading and the tape they'd been shown that their parents had made. He was wondering if there was time to slip out for a smoke when the girls came back, followed almost immediately by the attorney.

He looked at Keidle and Kirei. They seemed a little more at ease and had an air of mischief to them. It was as if they had shared a inside joke with one another just as they came back into the room. That's a good sign. Maybe this won't be such a huge transition to make after all.

Then the lawyer gave them their parents' rings.

Mathis watched both girls as they looked the rings over and then held out his hand in response to Keidle. "I'm certain our parents wanted you to have dad's ring." Mathis could not help but notice he emphasis she used. So, even with my parents dead and buried, I must prove myself worthy of claiming them as mine?

He nodded and slipped the ring into the interior pocket of his suit jacket. "Thank you, I will find a suitable box to keep this in until needed."

The lawyer made his exit, and Mathis looked back from the closing doors to his newly acknowledged sisters. "So, what now?" he asked. "Would either of you like to go have an early lunch or a cup of coffee? We could begin planning out my moving in, if you'd like."

Keidle spoke up first glaring at the way Mathis had treated their father's ring. She eyed him his actions then turned her ruby gaze upon him firmly. "Moving in? We bearly even know you and you want to talk about living arrangements. Absolutely not! It is by right that I manage this household and being that you were discarded from it previously I'm not going to accept you as my brother... not yet anyway." She smiled a wicked one at that.

Crossing her arms over her chest she looked to the side at him brushing her long dark tresses over her shoulder. "We can get some coffee perhaps, a lunch. I want to know what funds you have, are you able to support yourself let alone anyone else? Can I trust you not to snoop around my things? And further more will you interfere with my dating situations.. I have a nice line up of gullable men willing to do whatever I ask of them. I cannot have a sudden "brother figure" popping up to diter my plans." So the evil little bitch was out, there was no point hidding it at least not now. She wanted to see just who this Mathis person was. "Think you can handle all of that? I'm sure there is more later down the road but we'll talk about it when I come to that bridge."

Mathis found his head spun as Keidle let her thoughts known. What a bitch! He simply shook his head and looked to Kirei for a moment. I wonder if she feels like that too? Can't say as I blame them all that much. He wandered over to the pitcher and glasses on the sidebar of the room and poured himself a glass of water.

"Look," he said, "I'm not going to be coming in to boss either of you around or become some sort of parental replacement. Mom would like us to give being a family a shot--to let it have the chance that she admits she, they, should have taken long before now."

"You don't want to accept me right now? Fine. You want to try and void the will? Great, let's call the lawyer back in and see what happens to the house and estate, hmm? I have a place to call home, so it's no big deal to me if you both end up in the street."

He paused for a moment.

"No, that's not true. Even though I didn't realize you were blood related to me, as my parents' daughters I wouldn't want that to happen to you. Also, to answer your question, date whom you want, hell, fuck whom you want, but rest assured that I will be paying attention and if I get the feeling anyone is taking advantage of you...well, accidents happen all the time, don't they?"

He produced a business card from another pocket and turned it over to write something on the back. Mathis then offered it to the girls. "This is wear I'm staying while in town, for now. It also has my cell on the printed side. I know we're practically strangers, I thought going out in a neutral surrounding might be a step towards getting to know one another more. It's not like we're completely unknown to each other. Ask me what you got for your fourth birthday...or what your favorite way to spend Christmas morning is...or how the pair of you got little Jimmy Hernandez in trouble for playing 'Post Office' when you were twelve...you may not have noticed me, but I have always been here."

"The only difference is, this time, I'm staying."

Kirei couldn't help but smirk as the little devil inside her sister finally came out. It wasn't a 'common' occurrence but then again it wasn't rare to see, either. This was truly a test for Mathis, for if he couldn't handle their determination and reservations then he wouldn't last more than a day around them. She had expected him to flip and out and just leave them alone, given the harsh words that her sister had blurted out. But despite their slightly open hostility towards him... the reaction Mathis gave was more mature than Kirei could have expected. Still... she had been around her sister the most and trusted her the most.

Taking the card, Kirei flipped it in her hand a second, glancing at the words and numbers that Mathis had written. She ran a hand through her blond hair before handing the card over to Keidle. A slight smile spread across her face as she started plotting how much fun she could have at her brothers expense. Well... harmless fun mostly.

"You're paying for lunch then." Kirei thought for a moment. "And dinner... breakfast too." she added.

Kirei took the card Mathis offered and he tried to take a measure of what was behind the sly little smile that slipped onto her face. She seemed to be sizing him up as well.

"You're paying for lunch then," she said. Mathis nodded, he'd been planning on doing that anyways. He waited for the other shoe. "And dinner... breakfast too." she added.

He laughed lightly. "Lunch is a sure thing, Let's leave future meals on how lunch turns out, shall we?" If we hit it off, maybe I'll fix you breakfast in mom's barely used kitchen. He smiled at the thought of someone in the family actually cooking rather than directing the cook on what to prepare.

Mathis looked at Keidle. "Well? Is it a date then? Or shall I treat our sister to lunch without you?

Keidle took the card eyeing it for a moment before handing it back to Kirei. She shrugged at least he wasn't like most who would simply throw a tantrum and call a bitch flat out. Though she knew exactly what she was so it never hurt to hear it ever so often. Mathis choose a different method to her outburst, he managed to talk her down.

Only something her father seemed to be good at these days. Shrugging she sat back down crossing her legs "Fine as long as we are understood. I'll go to lunch, seems I'm famished as it is." she allowed a mild smirk to etch her lips but nothing further. So far she would give him a point in deplomacy.

"What sorta place did you have in mind for lunch anyway?" she asked in a voice completely different from the bitch earlier. A tad more polite but clipped much like their mother when she was trying to be civil over a situation she had no control.

"What sort of place?" Mathis echoed. He shrugged and looked from Keidle to Kirei and back. "I haven't lived here in years, and barely have been through visiting lately. How about one of you pick what sort of restaurant, and the other can pick the actual place?"

He smiled. It wasn't as if he didn't keep some tabs on the old place, but things change and people come and go; even a joint he liked might be completely different. Better to let them decide, and he could see how twin-like they might actually be with little tests like this.

"So, ladies," he prompted, "sound like a plan?"

Perhaps it was their 'brothers' polite attitude that had softened her sister, but Kirei knew that Keidle was still as upset as she was. Change was hardly ever welcome in their little world. But she had to admit... this more of a challenge than change, really. Playing with the card in her hands, Kirei thought for a moment.

"It sounds OK to me." she said after a moment. Kirei was sure that whatever place they chose would have good food and be on the expensive side.

"But this is not a date. That's just... slightly disturbing."
she added, getting up from her chair. As 'decent' looking as their 'brother' was, Kirei was just not ready to open up to such a possibility.

"But this is not a date. That's just... slightly disturbing," Kirei said.

Mathis nodded, but he couldn't help letting his eyes run along her body as she got up from the chair. A date? As in....? He let the thought drift away, but it bounced back when he turned to look at Keidle. She really is...they both are really...but they're my sisters. Mathis took a deep breath and pushed the just forming images to the back of his mind.

"So we're settled, then? I'm going to go spruce up a bit, or rather down a little, since I don't think I need to be quite as formal as I did coming to see the lawyer. Call my cell and let me know where you decide to go."

He looked at the two of them and paused for a moment as he started to leave. Mathis then stepped quickly up to each of them and leaned to kiss one cheek on each girl in turn.

"See you soon."

"A date?!" Keidle gawked at her sister surpised such a thing came to mind. Who in their right mind would think they were on a date. Despite all esle there was no denying the family resembilance especially their mother's ruby eyes. That was the only thing that seperated the family from the father, he had sharp blue eyes which he couldn't even pass on to a single one of them.

Keidle had seen Mathis watching him closely noting his eyes roving over her sister's frame. She glared but turned away and would have missed any roving eyes upon her person at that point. When she turned around hoping to find the man gone she was more surprised to find him a hair's breath from her face. A simple kiss on the cheek was all it took to silence the girl as she tried thinking of something witty to say to such an act... but what could she say?

She turned to her sister to silently speak, "Got any ideas of where we should go?"

Mathis left Keidle and Kirei behind at the lawyer's office and hurried to his car. He got in and lit a cigarette, using the calming effect of taking a few drags to let him settle his thoughts a bit more. He then put the car in gear and drove quickly to the hotel he was staying at.

The concept of meeting either of the girls for a date was not something that had crossed Mathis' mind until Kirei had mentioned it. Even without the acknowledgment of his role in the family before they'd come into it, he had always been around the twins. Being a decade and a half older than them, there was a sort of separation to his relationship with either girl.

He thought of them the way you might think of close cousins or the kids you sometimes might babysit when friends needed help at the last minute. Not a sense of belonging or real responsibility for how they behave or are brought up, but enough to set a good example.

Mathis sighed as he made his way to his suite and changed clothes while thinking.

Setting the wrong example was a prime reason for his being banished from the household in the first place. True, his running with street gangs and doing drugs hadn't helped in any way, but it was something more directly personal that was at the heart of the matter.

Soon after he'd finished getting ready, the phone rang and he nodded while telling Keidle that he knew how to find the restaurant they'd chosen. Sounds pricey, though, figures.

At the restaurant, Mathis left his car with the valet and stepped inside. He pushed his sunglasses back on his head, casually glancing in a mirror to adjust his long, black hair after doing so, and then looked about for the girls.

Not seeing them right away, he brushed some stray hairs and lint from his deep blue shirt and flirted briefly with the coatcheck girl. A hostess finished dealing with some customers that had been ahead of him and stepped over with a smile.

"Hello, how many in your party?" she asked.

Mathis returned her smile and looked to her chest. "There are three of us, Mary. But my sisters may already be here waiting on me."

"I'll check. What's the name?"

"Ororon."

Kirei glanced over at her sister when Mathis finally left.

"What? I was just clarifying that it wasn't a date, just so he doesn't get any ideas in his head." she professed but then shrugged her shoulders.

"And as to where... I dunno I was thinking someplace expensive. For one it's free and two... well isn't really really expensive food usually really good?" she asked, though the question was more rhetorical than anything. She stood up and patted herself down.

"Might as well get ready. You can shower first and I'll pick out where to eat." Kirei said. It would take her a little while before she would finally settle on a pretty respectable restaurant. After handing off her bit she figured Keidle could call their 'brother' while she showered herself.

And after a good two hours cleaning theirselves, the twins managed to get out of the house and in the limo to their next destination. "You think we over did it?" she questioned as far as their clothing was concerned the girls had an affinity for looking their best when in public. Maybe it was a vanity issue or maybe their mother had brought them up to be respectable enough ladies that they always showed their better side.

Shrugging Keidle didn't care so much as long as the food was good and it was free no less. Her sister had picked out the place which was her part. Keidle would be sure to give that information to their brother as she had done before they pulled up to the establishment now.

They would get there a little before Mathis and be seated near the window. This resturant was situated near the beaches which gave off a beautiful sea side view. On top of that they got to seat outside as the weather was quite nice today, so the window seat they acquired was facing indoors. "Hmm this is nice wouldn't you say? I hope Mathis won't be forever getting here..." she muttered.

Just as she spoke a hostess came into view with their brother in tow. He looked rather dashing despite all else, he still had some rough edges but that could be over looked...for now. "Glad you could make it." Keidle offered as her greeting for this meal. "I hope you don't mind but we rather like the outdoors its good for the skin." she spoke kindly but there was a clipped tone no less. For now she wasn't at all made or upset at their situation just annoyed. At least this way with a dinner they could ask questions and get to know each other better, and if there was one thing she needed to know was who this man who claimed to be their brother truly was underneath all the lights.

The hostess brightened up at the name Mathis gave her. "Oh yes, right this way? Have you known the sisters long?"

Mathis smiled and gave a half shrug. "Seems like I've known them forever, but not at all," he told her. He nodded to both Keidle and Kirei when they came into view out on the patio. Mathis was not surprised that they would choose to dine alfresco.

"No, I don't mind at all," he replied to Keidle's comment. "I like the fresh air as well as the sunlight. And, it can make it easier to speak, sometimes, since the other diners aren't as close to us."

He took a moment while the waitress got his setting arranged to look the two women over. Mathis would probably always think of his sisters as 'the girls', both because that was how Mother often referred to them as well as the force of habit in thinking about people so much younger than himself. But, especially when they were fancied up, there was no mistaking the fact that they were, indeed, women.

"Have you ordered anything besides drinks, yet?" Mathis asked, quietly turning aside to the waitress and ordering a double bourbon and one of the local beers. "You both look wonderful, by the way," he added, stepping from one to the other and kissing their cheek as he had earlier, before sitting down.
