My family would be shocked. And not in a good way.

Is there any other writers that have kept their erotica writing, efforts, and talent to express a deep secret?

I have written a few stories posted on Literotica and I have had multiple requests for more, but it is so hard to find the special time it takes to write in a relaxed safe atmosphere.

Anyone else deal with this same frustration?

Yes, all the time.

My parents wouldn't read it, but I doubt they would be shocked, per say. Writing is writing, and as I don't write (or model) under my real name...

Yes, that's me. I've had some special friends read my stories but never went beyond that. I joined Lit to help me get my nerve up to submit at least one

I'm exceedingly lucky that my husband knows what I do in my spare time, and is supportive. He might not enjoy reading gay erotica, but he does encourage me by making sure my keyboard works properly (he surprised me with a new one when my old one had sticky keys), asks me about programs like Scrivener, etc. I also have friends on another forum that are writers and are exceedingly supportive of my topics and MC gender choices.

Neither my parents nor my brother know I write erotica, but I'd not deny it if they asked. I'm doing what I enjoy and it's not illegal, so if they disapprove I don't really care. I have cousins who would be supportive, so it's all good.

My coworkers know I write, but not the topics. Again, if they asked, I would tell them, but they are more interested in their own lives than mine, so they'll never ask.

My close friends know that I'm writing gay erotica.

For some reason, I told my grandmother that I'm writing it, but just left off the gay part. She thought it was amusing (I come from a strange family).

Hey guys, quite a lot of you are new posters, so I will just take the opportunity to welcome you to the board. :) It can get a bit lairy here sometimes, but you will always find good answers to writer-ly questions.

(If someone says something a bit weird to you, it's about them not you - don't feed the trolls. If you can't ignore something they said, don't encourage them by replying. Just report their post for 'harassment, fighting or rudeness' - use the exclamation mark in the lefthand corner.)

A lot of people know I write erotica. I run my blog reviewing stories which are sexy and safe, with the aim of reaching out to young people and supplementing the lousy sex ed classes they get in school, so I can put a good case if anyone accuses me of being a dirty slut. I can point to my many filthy stories and habit of never cleaning the floors properly in order to sustain this reputation which I have worked very hard to attain ;)

I am a little careful about who I tell, as I have a school-age daughter. She is embarrassed enough if I want to walk to school with her, so having a mum who writes smut will probably be too awful for words for a few years yet. When she was little I was very careful as I didn't want other mums not to invite her to the Tinker Bell kids' parties, but I have other Alpha mum characteristics now so I know we will be regarded as OK. (I am a school governor, university lecturer, etc.)

It is great to have the freedom to write as and when I please - except for when Piglet is around. I regret bitterly teaching the kid to read, she is always coming up to ask about something and glancing at the screen of my laptop - which is a large and well-lit one, so I try not to go on the Forum or edit stories when she is with me. Anyway, I am usually busy then watching Strictly Come Dancing, baking cakes or finding stuff she has mysteriously mislaid ("it's in the place it's supposed to be put away in").

Well, there is some awesome fucking on it! Give it a whirl. (Link in signature.)
:)

(ETA: I am seriously looking for feedback on it at the moment. Is my writing style too jokey? Some people say they like it, others that they would prefer me to focus on the serious review comments. Please let me know over in my thread on Story Feedback, if you can spare the time. :rose:)

I'm very fortunate

My spouse is my reader and my toughest critic.

Our older children have also read... And even enjoyed some of my material.

I'm blessed I think.

That's so cool! I would love for Piglet to read some of my romance novels when she is older, as they are actually designed for a young female readership. I hope she doesn't think that idea is too awful.

She found some hilarious Barbie parodies a little while ago, and we watched three or four before I had to say they were really totally unsuitable - Barbie's attempts to seduce Ken away from his new Bratz Doll girlfriend had gone over her head :D. She said to me, 'we can watch them together in a few years' time,' but I suspect she won't want to watch things like that with me in a few years' time, LOL.

My wife knows. I haven't told our pastor yet. :D

I haven't kept what I do a secret. My daughter writes a bit and even posted here on the AH before. And my SO fully supports my writing.

Same here. No one in my real life knows I'm doing this besides my hubby. My friends and family would be shocked if they knew I was on here and writing what I'm writing.

Ain't no way Ken is ever going back to Barbie after that.

You'd be surprised! Barbie gets him to dump the Bratz Doll by text but he is such an airhead that he writes 'I'm waking up with you,' instead of 'I'm breaking up with you,' and she buys them all fajitas then goes home with him :D

The Barbie Parodies are so ba-a-ad that I was even able to review them on my blog. I feel so sorry for Piglet that they're unsuitable, they are totally hilarious.

I find it too cramped in the closet, so no...everyone knows and I don't care. Even if Jimmy cracks corn. (I have know idea where that came from)

My partner is the first to read my work, and vice versa.

Apart from that, well, I mentioned it to one relative (former nude centerfold who knows the publishing world), and... long story short, my aunt and my stepmother both bought copies of my smutty novel on Smashwords.

"So that's what lesbians do! I'd always wondered!"

Hmm. This thread has wandered a bit, but those are so often the best kind.

My wife encouraged our daughters to start reading romance novels about the time that their sexual interests started focusing -- maybe 15? I would never have done that because I knew nothing about what it was like to grow up Girl.

My wife put a *lot* of thought into how we would deal with our first daughter as she went through that transition and when the daughter was only about 3 she told me that the rule would be that she could not date until she was 16 and after that she made her own decisions. Same rule applied to all three daughters.

That had an interesting consequence when my second daughter reached 16. When she was 14 she knew an interesting senior (18) who became a frequent visitor to our home. On her 16th birthday he drove nonstop 2/3 of the way across North America and showed up at our front door unannounced, carrying an arm full of long-stemmed red roses so that he could be her first date.

He was so exhausted by the drive that they were out for about 3 hours, then he brought her back and fell asleep on the couch.

Now back to writing from the closet. To put this more back in context, my wife knows I write but I've never let her read. I think my daughters would accept it, with the possible exception of the oldest.

I have as yet told nobody I write smut but that would make a great icebreaker line, yes?

My partner, family, surviving friends, and sundry associates would not be amused to find themselves written into smut. They would not like my fantasies, extrapolations, intrusions, etc. It is better (for me) that they never know.

No one in my mainstream life knows I write erotica (I hope), and I don't even have a blog beyond the Lit. site to peddle here. ;)

My wife knows. I haven't told our pastor yet. :D

My friends know. My family knows. Everyone on my personal Facebook page knows if they pay attention or have followed the link to my author page. My neighbors know. The utility and credit card companies know. (they get a biz card along with my check in the mail) IRS will get told next month.

And not only does my pastor know, but at the last new member class I helped with, he gave my stories a thumbs up and personal recommendation when we were introducing ourselves.

I came out of one closet twenty-two years ago and see no reason the keep my nom de plume in one either. ;)

.

Few who know me know Saxon Hart exists....most would be shocked I can string more than tree words together. LOL

What? I didn't think Ken was into girls. Oh yeah, you did say this was a parody :D

I tell everyone if they ask. Most have the same reaction. You can write? I didn't even think you could read! :D
