Osama bin Laden is dead!

When I heard about the president's speech around 10:20, I thought "oh I bet Osama is dead" because I couldn't think of anything else worth coming on TV at 10:30 on a Sunday night for. I was right!

Well, there's a job opening for a major-league asshole. Unless the position is frozen until the economy improves.

I'm glad we got him, and it is confirmed to be him. It just makes me mad that he was living large in Pakistan. If they were prominent in finding him, that's fine, but there is just too much going on in that country that I don't like. It's like they are playing both sides against the middle, all the while smiling at whom ever they are talking to, at the moment.

It is confirmed to be him and Americans got him a week ago. DNA had to be verified with sampled from his family. I know this is a big deal and I know the president wants to make a big announcement, but I don't know the result of Celebrity Apprentice! Of all shows to break into for the pre-talk of all the network talking heads while the president finalizes his text. We could have watched the whole show and STILL have time for their drivel before the president talks.

In reality, they are taking the thunder from the president, by telling us everything he will speak about, except for the little details. OK, we are ready to hear the president.

Agreed! I thought he was living in a cave, but they found him in a mansion?? I realize caves don't have dialysis hookups, but I didn't think he was in a mansion.

I am pretty sure they had his own DNA, didn't they? I heard that they've had it on file for years waiting for this very moment.

As for Celebrity Apprentice...hah. My prediction is NeNe based on how things were when they finally cut over to talking heads about Osama.

But I heard that it was technical issues with the feed from the East Room that was holding it up. They were sure it was supposed to start at 10:30, I think they didn't want to leak it, but they had to because the announcement of "something" had been made. I think Obama would really have liked to make the announcement himself...I don't think it was an intentional delay. (Speaking only of the time cutting into Celebrity Apprentice.)

Oh, I don't blame the president for breaking into Apprentice. I blame the talking heads for it. If there was a delay, you'd think they would just stay with the scroll at the bottom of the screen until the feed was working.

As to the DNA, I heard they had the body and just wanted family member's DNA to confirm it was him before making the announcement. I think I'd be the same way. It would be pretty sad to say we got him and then have him show up a week or so later on Oprah!

As for breaking into Apprentice, all of this went down a week ago. His body has been cold for a week, while they waited for the DNA from family to confirm his identity. This announcement could have been timed much better than it was, with a week to schedule.

Edited...
I agree with your NeNe being fired. I'm very tired of Star, though I'm sure Trump will keep her around the same way he kept Gary Busey...for ratings. Who knows...maybe Hope will be fired and keep both NeNe AND Star for another week. They'll kill each other!

Yeah, but you gotta wonder...was that a jab at Trump?

LMAO I did hear that he has been dead for nearly a week so that could be a possibility.

Like DVS said, that delay was supposedly to confirm DNA...but folks will believe what they want to believe.

That was just a false rumor. He wasn't on dialysis.

Edit:

All I can say is...Ding Dong, the Bastard's Dead!

Here's a round for the S.E.A.L.S. on me.

It's not a cause for celebration.

Over 3k people were killed on 9/11 because of his direction and orchestration.

I may not be throwing a block party because of it, but I'm not ashamed to admit he deserved nothing less.

I agree.

If it had happened on or before 10/01 then maybe we could pump our fists in the air. As it is, American foreign policy has done too much damage for too little reason since then.

I know people hate to hear this.

i understand that hes a figurehead for a lot of pain and suffering for A LOT of people, but to celebrate in the streets like this really changes everything seems a bit naive. It took us 10 years to find and kill him, and the ideas and beliefs that he stood for are going to be a billion times harder to kill than he was.

exactly put, thank you. :rose:

.... more than 110600 Iraqis have been killed since the start of the war to April 2009 Thats 33 for 1.

The beliefs he stood for will be inspired and propagated in previously peaceful humans. It is only a figurehead :( I am saddened by the coverage.

Well, it was Hope. NeNe and Star will probably kill each other, next week and the ratings will be through the roof.

I've been trying to confirm when Bin Laden was actually killed. Early reports said it was a week ago, but that wasn't what the president said, tonight. and Fox news has said the "go ahead" started a week ago and so maybe he was just killed, today.

If all of that is true, then it looks less likely that the president "chose" Trump's show to break into. It would then be considered true breaking news and I could see any network running the story like that. And if you look at it from Trump's point of view, the show is taped and so it didn't affect him any. It just affects the viewers and so that could go against the interruption, if viewers protest. Any protest would give Trump more press.

The lastest I've heard is Bin Laden was living in a nice house in Abbatabad, that was fortified for defense and a son was killed with him. It seems to me that he didn't feel threatened by capture if he was living in a nice house in a country that is suppose to be on our side in attempts to find him. And to have a son living with him? Would he put a son in danger of being killed with him?

I think Pakistan is more likely taking sides where they see the best deal for them, when the other side isn't looking. I'm sure our government knows this, although on the surface it will be said that they were great help to us in finding Bin Laden.

I don't care, I'm glad he's dead. Am I having a celebration? No, but I'm THRILLED he's dead. Just because other people have died does not make what he did less evil or his death any less deserved.

That is, more than one hundred ten thousand. And counting. Because we are still killing Iraqi civilians. And they are still killing our soldiers.

I agree with all the criticisms and caveats about the war, civilian deaths, and the negligible longterm impact of bin Laden's death. The lunatic foreign policy mess that 9/11 started was the more effective terrorism, and self-inflicted.

But the fucker is dead, and he needed killing.
