Orthodontically Yours

Ah, so many memories here in this post!

My favourite was the Learner orthodontist who used to slip while replacing the little thingies that held the main wire to each brace, driving said wire and pliers into gum.

Damn - you get a choice of flavours for the cast imprints?! I only had that 'pretend this doesn't taste like chalk' mint flavour.

My sympathies. I so understand!

I feel your pain.

I went through a year and a half of pretty much the same stuff - headgear, and all. (although it was pretty nifty when I learned how to shoot those little rubber bands with my tongue)

:rose:

I could feel your pain but I'm too preoccupied with feeling my own. I just got back from the dentist's office where they pulled an impacted lower canine tooth. It had broken off a while ago, but didn't bother me until it became infected. I finally decided that the pain of having it yanked was less than the ongoing pain, that was getting worse. It was no fun, and my mouth will be sore for the rest of the day, but it's better than the ongoing pain I was having.

I've only had one root canal but that pain was worse than anything I've had so far in my orthodontic hell.

Hi, Sarahh, :rose:
I didn't mean to make light of your suffering or compete in some kind of "I hurt more than you" contest. When I was a child, orthodontics were just not usually done, at least not for boys. It was very expensive, and no insurance, even if somebody had dental insurance, would cover it, because it was considered to be cosmetic, not therapeutic..

I feel much better this morning. My lip is a little sore from the novocaine injections, and my chin is a bit sore from being used as a fulcrum when the dentist levered the tooth out, and the extraction site is a bit tender, but nohing like it was yesterday. I will probably get some writing done today.

And I hope you're feeling better too. :rose:

Aren't you a love? :rose:

Yes, the ibuprofen is killing my stomach. I'm just taking it in the morning, though, just enough to make it through the day. And my blood pressure is normally quite low so that part doesn't concern me.

Tylenol? The only problem with Tylenol is that then I couldn't have RUM.

And baby, that's the only thing that's keeping me sane these days. ;)

I have been taking Advil. It seems to do the job, with no stomach upset. The main ingredient is Ibuprofin, but it apparently has buffering agents also. I don't drink anyhow, but there is no warning about mixing with booze.

Endorphins are a great pain killer.

So I recommend having your husband put you over his knee and giving you a good spanking.

Followed by what usually follows a spanking.

Sweetheart, you're on your own. You know about my teeth. (Don't comment.) I wish you nothing but the best.
