Hello, this is my first post by the way.

My question is what are multiple orgasms?

I know that when I orgasm there is the tightening of my virginal muscles and then a slight release then tightening again and it will continue to do this till i cannot take it any more. Now is it considered another/new orgasm after the slight release or am I way of base on what multiple orgasms are? This may sound like a silly question but have always wondered.

P.S. Would like to apologize to all on my lack of grammer, spelling, punctuation...well let's just say English period. Had a friend who is a journalist trying to teach me but alas it was to no avail. GRRRRRRRR

Hi Nomadic Lady, welcome to Lit, where people talk about all sorts of interesting topics and share their knowledge and wisdom with eachother.

First of all, let me say that a woman explains female orgasm far better than any male, so my observations are just that, based on experience. The ladies above have clearly and delightfully defined orgasm as I have observed it.

But the question is "What is a multiple orgasm?" and for one of the best answers to that read Mr G's "Try This and Report Back" thread on the How To . . . Board. It is worthwhile reading all of the thread because it has a mountain of excellent comment.

Society and the Porn Industry tell us that ladies can only have one orgasm, but this is not correct. In a patriarchy, performance is measured by male standards, and males can usually only have one orgasm per sexual encounter, depending on age, physical fitness and stimulation.

However, someone forgot to tell the ladies, because as Mr G's thread shows, ladies can have significantly more than one orgasm per encounter. It all depends on many factors, especially the skill and technique of the male partner.

(Sorry ladies, please don't be offended - I'm displaying my heterosexual bias only because it is easier for me. I am quite prepared to accept that a lady partner is more than capable of providing the same level of pleasure for another lady.)

From a male viewpoint, when a lady reaches orgasm for the first time, society would have us believe that a single mutual orgasm is the ultimate sexual pleasure. Once maybe, but no more. If your partner continues to stimulate you after the first orgasm, you will most likely have a second and then more orgasms. Don't be surprised if there is a rest period between orgasms, usually 2-3 minutes.

Now what about multiple orgasms, continuous orgasms, plateau orgasms, super novagasms, and residual orgasms?? These all result from prolonged stimulation after the first few orgasms.

If we consider the level of pleasure being experienced by a lady during sexual intercourse as the classic s-curve from biology population models, then -

1. the first few orgasms initiate the pleasure process and take the pleasure level up from ground zero;

2. increased stimulation following the initial orgasms pushes the pleasure levels higher, up the logarithmic phase to the plateau;

3. once the pleasure level has reached the plateau, repeated orgasms occur with minimal stimulation, and intermittent stimulation will keep the lady bouncing along in a series of interlinked orgasms, the continuous orgasm state;

4. the super novagasm is fairly rare, but when it occurs you'll know it;

5. frequently a lady who has been "over-stimulated" will continue having orgasms diminuendo after her partner has ceased playing - these are the residual orgasms.

The best thing about all this useless theory is that

TO ACHIEVE THE MAXIMUM PLEASURE REQUIRES PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!!!
