My daughters always get on my case because I do not plan to donate any organs upon my death. I know it is really a worthwhile cause but for some reason it just does not feel right to me, yet I feel wrong not donating. Maybe your answers will help me with this decision.

Are you planning to donate organs upon your death? Why or why not?

Nope... don't care if some other freak needs them either... because I DONT GIVE A FUCK ABOUT THEM..... HAHAHAHAHAH

I am suck a bastard

Well, I certainly won't be using them when I'm dead, and if there's a spark left, why not let it do some good?

However, I have to ask -- why doesn't it feel right to you? Do you have a belief in the Resurrection, and that you will need all the original equipment?

Note -- I don't want to start a religious war here. I just wonder.

I have those two little magical words on my drivers license. I dont quite remember why I chose too. But I know that in order to get "Organ Donor" off my drivers license I have to write a letter to the Dept of transportation. Damn that sucks. But the very "helpful" lady at the dmv renewal office did say that even though it says it on my license, they still have to have a signature of permission from the closest relative. So.....when I die, either they get donated or they dont. I dont know anymore

Let's see, I've got a Kimball, and a Baldwin Fun Machine and Rhodes from the early seventies,

Oh yeah, body organs. I'm a donor, they can take what they find useful when I'm gone. I hope it helps somebody. My eyes are perfect, even after the abuse they've endured.

I have other parts that have been abused also.

Another great idea for a match!!!

The loser gets killed and we donate his/her organs. The blood will bring in big bucks.

I'm also an organ donor. I carry a card in my wallet that informs about this. Here in Denmark they will only do it if the family says it's ok too, but my mom do know that I'm all for it.

I won't need them once I am gone. I have my driver's license signed & all the papers in order. I want to be cremated so they can have whatever is still viable. I think organ donation is very important, I know several people who are alive today because someone signed a donor card. One of the victims of the same shooting that took my son died at the hospital. Her parents signed the papers & as a result of their compassion, 20 people were helped. My son wanted to be an organ donor, but because of the number of victims & the possiblity of a bomb in the building, it was 7 hours before the police could bring him out. I encourage everyone to sign their donor card. A friend of mine disapproves of organ donation on religious grounds, but if the Second Coming arrives, I want a new body with knees that don't hurt & eyes that don't have to have glasses.

Yes, I'm an organ doner. I figure if I'm not using it, hell, someone else might as well. In my state, if you're an organ doner you get a cute little heart on your license. That was enough incentive for me.

I am one too. I have told my husband and sister those are my wishes but I have also spelled it out in a living will along with my desire not to be kept alive by artificial means.
Put it in writting!

I plan on donateing organs because...I feel that if I can help a child to survive I will do what I can...There are children with server burns I'm donateing every thing...I put a note tho one my licence all my organs goes to children....

Pardo me folks....I feel real strong on this one..........Cyan Bloodsbane.........I AM ONE OF THOSE FREAKS......I was 17 years old and told my kidney had shut down and had 6 freaking months to live.
Had a transplant that was to last 10 years it lasted 12.....Can't bitch ....had to have another about 2 years ago and they hope this one will last 20 years cause of the match and new drugs.....I bank on cloning for the 3rd one I will have to have before I die ....They grow skin and eyes now won't be long till they make custom made organs which will take away the chance of rejection.....
I had Dialysis with folk that never belived in it tillit happens to them.......
I understand it isn't for everyone but I myself think all prisoners schould have to and when I die they can take what ever they want or need ....even for medical science...I never liked that one but how else can they learn to do better and what the drugs I have taken ( the ones they told me to take) have done to a body.....
I have problems with my eye and now they tell me it is from 15 years of this one drug causeing my eyes to go bad....
I myself think we all should donate what we can.....you just don't know what is like to need one to live....I have a wife and two kids and wasn't ready to go ......I'll soon be 34 in the next few months and don't think it is to bad after being to the 6 month thing........
Just my thoughts.................

Good thread topic.................

I had hoped you would see this thread, and respond. Another, the best, reason for pro organ donating.

Down here in the bible belt they have some pretty strange beliefs when it comes to organ donors along with many other things. But I can think of no greater gift to leave behind.

I'd love to let a nice lady borrow my organ for an evening also

Wife one thing you should think about is that some adult organs are too large for a childs body, if you say it must be a child then some of them may go to waste.

I am an organ donor, made my wishes plain and simple on the driver's license, to my family, and in writing. My children's organs would be donated, if as a parent I have the horror or making that decision.

My thoughts are with anyone on the waiting list for a life saving organ transplant. My son died the morning he was to be placed on the heart transplant list.

I may be freaky but I am not a freak. I'm human.

I am an organ donor. Why? Probably because i remember when I was young a friend of my fathers died in a motorcycle accident and it just so happened that whatever needs to matched matchedmy grandmother who needed i believe a cornea transplant!

Organ donor here also,,, so noted on my DL and living will as well as my medic alert necklace.

What better gift to leave than the chance at life or sight for a perfect stranger,,, or one of your relatives. Who knows how they will be used,,, but they will be used.

And Cyan,,, grow up just a little,,, you can only take being a prick so far.

I would tend to agree.

I've marked organ donor on my license, as well. I want to donate everything. Let the little medical students slice and dice my cadaver. Afterwards, they can burn whatever is left. I just don't want to be buried in a damned box, taking up space, and not even giving back to the earth.

I believe there was a thread awhile back debating this issue.

tony_gam didn't answer my question. Since he doesn't admit to being a selfish bastard, or suffering a transmittable disease, why would it weird him out?

I'd really like to know, because so many of us will donate. It would be good to know exactly why someone won't.

An intresting thought here for those that didn't know......When I had mine or was waiting, a cousim died of a brain tumor and the family wanted to give me the kidney.
If thurned out not t o be a match but I did get to meet with the Core reps. and I got to hear what they say to the family about donaton......They donated all her organs and she was able to change 274 life because what she donated.

Bones to make new reconstructive surgery such as chin and cheek bones All the normal organs such as eyes liver kidneys They can cut a chunk of liver off and give it to a kid......Skin can be used.....I mean all kinds of parts to better others........I think that is amazing that that much can be done. I mean 274 lives changed , you have to say when something real bad like death happens this is a wee little bit of good to come out of it......

Donation is truely a priceless give to give someone........I respect the right not to but think what if.....That was you or a son or daughter?????? It might change your mind......

A quick side note have been dealing with this for years now....When I started dealing with this The Catholics were against transplantation.....I was told they belive you need to leave this world with what you came into this world with........Well lastime I was sick I was on dialysis with a Catholic priest and I ask him and he told be they have changed there postion on the matter now....??????? Like I said it changes when you or someone you know needs a transplant.......

There are some cultures who believe you must go complete, as you died, to the next world, or are reduced in status. That is a brief and very simple explanation.
Then again, the first organ doners, in a sense, were the Aztecs. They believed that if they ate the heart of a brave warrior after he died, enemy or not, his strength would be theirs. If someone was weak in the legs, he would eat a piece of a strong man's legs. And on and on. You get the picture. I am not going further into it. It was considered an honor to be wanted after the Gods had taken you, whether by an enemy or not. In fact, they often had battles staged with their enemies. Each the same amount of men and would fight till a certain amount died. Then call it off. That way each side had the necessary ummm... donations needed for various festivals. Their families were given gifts and made honorary members of the eaters family.
Okay, am I comparing this to the lifesaving donation we are talking about? No. But it was the same idea, just got a little screwed up somewhere.

Heh, I found that remark about the Catholic's premise that you have to leave the world with what you come into it with rather funny. When I emerged into this world I had an umbilical cord. Should I always be attached to my mother just so I can enter the kingdom of God? :)

Sorry, I guess I have a sick sense of humor.

According to my licence, I'm also a organ donor. I'm a regular blood donor too.

Oh, and to Cyan Bloodsbane. There's a saying I know that might fit you quite well. "If you don't give a fuck about anyone else, no one's gonna give a fuck about you."

Actually honey, again back to various cultures. Yes, you need your umbilical cord. Sounds gross doesn't it? But some cultures keep them, as a prize possession, a token of good luck.

After having been a volunteer firefighyer for five years and having worked in a funeral home for nearly two,,, there just isn't much that can gross me out any longer,,,

But Merelan has just succeeded.

YUK!!!!!!!
