Orangutan Wants to Make Homelessness Illegal

Orangutan's plan to criminalize homelessness was met with disdain from critics.

So, whaddya gonna do? Throw'em in jail> That gives them a roof, food and free medical. Why not do that in communities? Give them a roof, food and medical help. Then help train them to go back to work. Most of them don't want to be there. Some are mentally unable to do otherwise. Some are physically unwell. HELP them.

Even if they want a home and have a job, they may not be able to afford a home. Aside from the payment itself are the utilities, taxes and insurance. Those can easily double a monthly payment and put a home out of range, even if they could afford the base payment. The whole system needs a rework.

I got lucky. I bought a house cheap. It wasn't a great house, but I've worked on it over the years and it's OK now. But I still have to be careful with utility use. I'm in an area of extremely low taxes, but that comes at a price of few services and being on a rural road far out of town.

Trump wants to move the homeless into camps where they will be concentrated together, as a final solution to the problem. They could be joined by global banking leaders who have been funding 'social justice' movements whose real goals were the destruction of the white nationalists.

Luckily the proposed uniforms will be brown shirts that won't show the dirt inevitable when working with such sub-human elements of the population.

What? Playing leapfrog over the homeless to walk down the sidewalk isn’t fun still?

Trump is not alone. Several large California cities are banning homeless people from living on sidewalks and are forcing them into shelters or sanctioned encampments. These sites provide health services, prohibit illegal drug use, and require occupants to accept treatment.

45's answer is internment camps. It is not the same as the programs you've mentioned.

45 wants to bus people to internment camps in rural communities. Banning tent cities isn't new. Having outreach programs and alternative housing that includes treatments isn't new.

Rounding them up and shipping them out is different.

Think less soup kitchen and more Japanese during world war 2.

This Newsweek article includes a video of Trump outlining his plan. He doesn’t say anything about internment camps or bussing people to rural communities. His plan sounds nearly identical to what mayors in large CA cities like Sand Diego, San Jose and others are calling for.

Lol....right..

No, his plan goes well beyond what CA cities are proposing.
Trump said his proposal calls for creating "tent cities" and relocating homeless people to "large parcels of inexpensive land"
Internment camps don't work.

Trump did not call for internment camp. You made up. San Diego’s plan calls them SAFE camping villages. Places away from city sidewalks, parks, schools, creeks, etc. where homeless people can safely set up tents or use tents provided to them for shelter while receiving health and long term housing placements services. They have been referred to as tent cities, sanctioned encampments, safe villages, interim emergency shelters, and other terms. The mayors of California cities are calling for the exact same thing because they recognize there are not enough permanent shelters to house the overwhelming numbers of people living on the streets.

He didn't use the words, but that's exactly what they are.

The programs you're mentioning here are voluntary and local. I have no issue with those.

Keep advocating for the involuntary government round up and bus out and pretending they are something different. It's very conservative of you 👍

You are literally making shit up. No forced bussing, no forced internments. You cannot find any references to any hint of that in Trump’s video.

Former President Trump, San Diego Mayor Gloria, San Jose Mayor Mahan and other Democratic elected leaders in California cities are putting forth common sense plans and proposals that ban camping in public places. Nobody is proposing rounding people up and “bussing them to internment camps.” Going to a tent city/sanctioned encampment/safe village is voluntary. If they don’t want to accept a shelter option provided by the municipality they are free to find alternatives of their own. What they cannot do is continue to camp on sidewalks, in parks, along creeks, near schools, or other areas that endanger public health and safety.

Yes, you always know what he thinks right? We know you love a good shit hole but other Americans are fed up with the hordes of drug-animated mental cases you call "the homeless."

Without cheap energy, we will need more manual laborers of all types, to grow food, make products, and repair and maintain everything. Food will be too valuable to just give away as charity. Homeless and former office workers will face the same choice of do productive work or starve.

`Anyone making a serious run must say something about homelessness. Even the "Rent Is Too Damn High" guy had that covered.

You're the one who accuses them of being drug animated mental cases.

Some are. Some aren't. I doubt you even care to find out.

Demonize them all..throw them into internment camps so we don't have to look at them, right?

I disagree.
so... what about those left homeless after tornadoes/fires/floods? with everything gone and often no home insurance due to such increases in incidences (flooding, first and foremost) that they couldn't afford or sell up and move?

what about the farmers gone bust after drought (and aforementioned extreme weather events/acts of god), whose crops have been wiped out and their homes get reclaimed by banks? those whose cattle or other livestock have died, or had to be destroyed and, so again, they lose entire generations of work... their insurances not paying out to the level they can remain or pay up mortgages?

more and more this will be part of the homeless scenario. you'd have them all criminals?

what about the young women forced to give birth and so run up medical costs which mean they and their partners if they have one can't afford to pay rent/mortgages? the families left homeless when a major employer ups and leaves a community? You're saying you think someone mentally ill, or medically sick with addiction, or loss of job through health issues should be considered criminal because of an inability to keep a roof over their heads?

let me tell you what SHOULD be considered criminal: that there isn't enough will in the governing factions of the USA (other countries, too, but i live here so that's where i'm talking about) to provide enough cheap housing, enough health care access, enough intervention aid, protection and care so we see more and more and more left with no roof over their heads and very little chance of regaining one.
