I am currently writing a collaborative piece with another member and had a question.

the story is perfectly designed to be split into multiple parts as he wrote a piece and then I did, taking turns, but I put the whole work on one file and did a word count. at present, before modification it is 7163 words long.

After I am done messing around with it, it should be about 8000. My question is should I be splitting this into four smaller pieces or be playing with each piece so they flow together and submit it all as one?

All opinions given are greatly appreciated and thank you in advance.

FWIW, the average (full) page is about 25.5Kb and 3500-4000 words. Your story would therefore be only two (and possibly a fraction) pages if posted as one piece.

I wouldn't split the story you described into more than two pieces, but probably wouldn't split it at all.

Thanks

My thanks Weird Harold...again
(musing to myself) How is it that you always come along just when I need you the most? :)

I wrote 2 stories with other authors

I think you should either split it where it seems natural, or not at all, only when it switches from one writer to another. one of my stories had 6 parts, and the other had 4, I think.

Good luck on your writing venture. Both stories were an incredible learning experience for me.
