This afternoon I was working outside when I watched a wrecker pull up on the street out front.
I watched as the two man crew climbed out and stood there looking around. Then they backed their truck up and started getting things ready to pick up a car. Unfortunately the car they were backing up to was mine.
I wandered over to see what the hell was going on. The two guys didn't speak English and unfortunately I don't speak Creol. The did manage to get across the idea that they were going to take the car and nothing I said would stop them.
Well I did say something that did stop them. I called the local P.D. and mentioned to the dispatcher that I did have the ability to defend my property. He promised to send someone right out.
The cruiser showed up and out clambers a locla cop. He asked me what was going on then walked over to where these two guys were busily trying to hook up my car. He talked to them with much gesticulation then he called in back-up. Back-up that spoke Creol.
The second officer got it all sorted out. They were actually there looking for a gray Chevy Suburban that parks two spaces down from me. (I have a silver Tracker.)
Then the officer decided to run their names. Lo and behold both of them were quickly cuffed and stuffed for being illegals. Oops.
