OOC: What are some annoying things that male rp'ers do?

write the begining post from the female characters point of view

describe the female character in too much detail

ignore half the details of my post and change location description and story direction

have so many typos that it detracts from the post

Fail to grasp their partner's hot buttons and instead base their advances on things that make no sense.

Just lol what else can you expect from a thead like this?

But yeah not a bad thread I'll be sure to take some notes here as well. Always room to learn.

They can't read our minds and figure out what we want.

Heheh! No, seriously. Sometimes, women also make mistakes. Perhaps we should have another thread for what women do wrong, or post them here. But anyway, with the topic at hand... hmmmm...

This happened to me once. My partner did not know when I wanted sex to be a bit forceful. Sometimes, if your partner (male or female) drops a hint, you should take the risk. The hint will usually be pretty obvious, after all.

Over describe just how much of a manly-man, or how sexy they are. I've always found it more interesting if it's left open to the interpretation of the other player(s).

It's not always two people's opinions about body type, and the such, will be similar. If my guy/gal doesn't like a particular type, they're not going to go for it no matter how much the player puts that they're perfect and cum inducing. I don't like having it forced on me, really.

Well said, no one's perfect.

Also judging by the type of thread your in you should be able to set the mood or personality of the character your rp parter wants to be with. If the title of the thread says "loveing a bunny" your not going to create a character that's into hard core sex. <_< well...maybe I've chosen the wrong title for that example...but you know what I mean.

Thread's fine. These are things both sexes do. I'd also like to hear what makes a *successful* SRP. Myself, I try to contact the person over YM or at least send a few PMs, including one of the first post. I've found that chatting over YM takes care of *quite* a few problems / questions I might have in a thread, and avoids stepping on a few toes. I've also made quite a few online friends through Lit, and chat even if they aren't posting there anymore.

Scribe.

hmm....well, i've noticed only a few problems. i myself am male, but i've noticed most of the male characters on the forum try to be too forceful in regards to the sexual posts. furthermore, most of them don't try for story....they're just doing it for selfgratification. and they don't strive to improve at all in that regard. then there are those who view all RPs from a view of stats. in some cases, it's sizes (which really aren't that important). in others, such as combat-based RPs, they try to do things based on the unrealistic "set number of words for hit/dodge/block" rules or D&D measurements of strength and ability. lastly, and i myself have done this a few times, (as tenko will tell you) they give make a character in a specific world with specific rules, and then either don't follow those rules themselves, or bend them as much as possible but forget to give reasons for said bending. such as the rather famous Ceramic Armor incident << >> in which i SHOULD have asked someone exactly which form of ceramic i needed to use, and instead put just "ceramic". the issue arose from the properties of different types of ceramic, and pretty much tore apart the thread

I beg to differ, dragon. regarding your male forcefulness theory. I think the guys' biggest mistake is not knowing how to say "no". On the other hand, if they do say no, there won't be anyplace for them to write, will there - and they'll just leave like a lot of really spectacular male writers have done in the past.

Another point is that, instead of seeing a consistent improvement in writing skills, it seems to be that it just goes downhill. Where a writer might have started out with a great posting style, suddenly they are writing in one or two sentences. Is it the need for speed and who initiates that - the race for the orgasmic finish.

There are some brilliant writers on this forum. It just seems to me that many write with tunnel vision and that they can't see beyond their own orgasmic needs. Maybe that's not a bad thing. I'd just like to see folks trying something different and unpredictable for a change.

Well Maid, when I do an SRP, I talk it over ahead of time with whoever else is involved to try to figure out whether it's supposed to be a boinkfest or develop serious characters and thorough plots. It tends to save on frustration later. I try not to contradict other folks' posts, but that can be somewhat challenging unless we've laid a clear foundation ahead of time.

As for the rule stuff, yeah, I admit it. I LIKE having rules for D&D (and I'm probably more of a power gamer than is strictly healthy). On the other hand, I like RP and I'm willing to bend the rules somewhat for the sake of RP. I do, however, usually make it clear how and why I'm bending them (and if I'm not the GM, I'll ask first)

lulz? :p I know someone who says that and I have no idea what it means , I know of lol I use it myself but lul?

I'm sure I make many mistakes and sometimes my spelling isn't up to par. Yeah, the blowjob issue annoys me quite alot, it's like let's skip all the tender parts and go straight to the dirty bits. Whereas sometimes you want a quick rp and you should specify that at the start of the thread.

I also disagree with DragonRazor on the topic of men being too forceful. (Though I grant that a tendency to want to skip the story for sex annoys me.)

Katamari Roller raises the point I was driving at. RPMate, it might be bad form to create a hard core sex character in a "Bunny Loving" type-thread, but it's equally as bad form to create an inexperienced nerd character in the "Hard Core Sex Dungeon" too.

Alot of the thrill of Literotica is the escapism and the fact that here we can indulge in our fantasies without reprecussion. But my fantasies don't involve shy inexperienced guys who never make a move on me and are utterly passive during our encounter.

If a creative guy says "This is the scene I'm looking to play out," then depending on the scene, I may or may not participate. But if the passive guy says "Looking for anyone, I'll do anything", I will DEFINITELY not participate.

Interesting point....

What inspires you to click on a thread? Do you just read the title? I usually look for ones with low post counts, to see if there is a chance I can get in.

i rarely ask for exact specifics in my rps. granted, sometimes in group threads i'll present a type of character i'd like, and in certain threads group threads i've requested characters that would be celebrities in the world of that thread (like my Furry Studio and High Tail Hall threads), but generally, i only give out ideas, or what i'd "like" to be in the thread, and leave whether anyone picks it or not up to the players.

however, in my one on ones, or threads were i've got an idea for a threesome or foursome, i'll ask for specific characters as a general rule. mainly because the thread is a chance to live out the fantasy of meeting such characters

-instant fuck fest
-no specifics to the RP itself
-over obsessiveness of my character when there are others to interact with.
-expressing how much their character is this hot love muffin
-no character development or personality for that matter
-and although on rare occasions I've come across a few guys/girls that take the relationship between two characters a little too personal...where it pools into real life. That's just obnoxious and obsessive.

...and the list goes on. I'm guilty of the same but try my best not to play in a thread with a character I can't relate to. My biggest peeve is simply the instant fuck fest really. I like development into romance perhaps some touching then later when the characters have established a relationship of sorts they go the whole nine. And for the love of God if you're not sure wether to spice things up or not, there is a little thing called PM/IM. It doesn't hurt to ask if you can turn the story toward a darker/lighter tone.

As for choosing threads, most of the time I pick a thread best on the host. If I've played with them in the past and enjoyed their company I'll most likely return to their threads again. Sometimes its based on the post count, if it just started then I'll take a look, longer threads I steer clear from because it requires a lot of back reading and catching up. Plus my character might not fit with how the plot is currently heading. But I generally like adventure based threads with more than one person. One on one is fine but I've run into a few dead-heads that can't think past whats in front of them.

Other than that, nothing big, hell I'm still working on my own development in RP. It isn't going to happen over night but hopefully I'll get better over time.

speaking of which, anything new? i saw the new installment to Catgirl Confessionals....

When the guy sets up the thread and only insists on the sexual actions being rape...and only rape. *shudders*

No nothing new dragon, it died before getting off the ground so yeah...hehe.

Yeah that is annoying, I don't mind if rape is part of the story, its only experimentation but if you're obsessed with the story being about continuous rape then it gets a bit questionable.
