Ok, first things first, I am looking for three volunteers, hopefully two women and one man. But I would like volunteers that believe in writing, first, sex second. This is not to sex isn't important and I am in a few threads where I am sex first, style second, but this thread is an experiment. Also, it needs to be people who visit regularly(see below).

The Setting: Two couples meet over dinner on a train. If you've never been on a train ride, in the dining car they fill every seat at every table, I've travelled alone on trains and it is an interesting way to meet people. The two couples hit it off and retire to the lounge car to chat.

The characters: ONLY the two couples! No extras. (see below) While theoretically the situation looks like a wife-swapping thread, due to the nature of the experiment, it doesn't have to go that way at all. One possible option is that the four people tell stories to each other. It's all up to the group, I believe in democracy.

The experiment: Here's the crazy stuff. The experiment is about style and characterization. The thread will begin with two posts by each person-To gain a sense of character and style. Hopefully, we can maintain a one post per day schedule, barring emergencies, of course. What happens next is the posters will start to rotate characters, one post each rotation. MaleAuthor1 will suddenly be Male Character2, MaleAuthor2 will be FemaleCharacter1, and so on. I will create an easy to follow schedule. The object will be to try to maintain the original author's style and character, while interacting as that character.

Remember, please don't ask to volunteer if you don't plan to follow through or don't think that this could be fun. As soon as I have four authors ready to go with characters, I'll start a thread.

MaleCharacter1: Lawrence Huntington, 28, comes from money. He feels a sense of superiority to those not as rich, but he tries to mask it. His wife always wanted to take a coast to coast train ride. Lawrence has purchased the largest sleeping berth available on the train. He is average height, in good shape from tennis and racquetball, with sandy blond hair and brown eyes.

Sounds totally cool!

Really like the originality of this one! I know I could do the time committment thing....I'm out here everyday. Now, what you would be looking at is for some one (say me, if I qualify) to put out a character who is well developed. Then, following a schedule, I would become the other characters and write in their styles as their characters?

I'd be very interested in giving it a shot, unless more talented writers want to be involved.

Let me know...

I absolutely love character development so I think I'd love this thread. I like the switching roles part too. I've never written for a male character. It would be fascinating to delve into the male psyche. Let me know if you want me to join. I'll develop an original character just for you.

I'd love to give this a shot! I've been wanting to take a shot at playing a female for a while now. The one post per day arrangement sounds good too. I can handle that. I'm in if you'll have me.

Great original idea Xantham. I think I am too late to join but I like the idea of character development first and sex second. Adds to the mystery and anticipation! I will follow this thread to see how it develops. Let me know if you want to start another on the same principle! Thanks :D

SexyChele, Honeyb, and Mars99: You guys were the first three to indicate willingness which is always a big plus in my book. I had read SexyChele and Honeyb before, so I sat down and read some of Mars99 stuff. My literary requirements were pretty low, after all who am I to criticize, really, but all of you were so far above them that I feel no worry. So the next step is for each of you to create a character description here in the OOC thread. The two couples should be connected within the couple but not to the other couple, they should be strangers. So husband/wife, fiancees, girl/boyfriend, anything goes really, first post-first served, unless I sense a really bad conflict.

Keep the description here fairly short. Your first posts will define the character more, this is just mostly for some obvious facts.

And to answer your question SexyChele, yes you will try to write their characters in their style. It's not a class and you're not getting graded so don't worry too much about messing up. In fact, don't worry about it at all, because its pretty much a guarantee that we'll all mess up a bit at first.

MaleCharacter2

Marty Jankowicz, 30, steelworker from New Jersey; good, honest working man from a blue-collar background; faithfully devoted to his friends and family. Travelling cross country with his fiancee to visit his sick mother; 5'10", dark brown hair and eyes, stocky, ruggedly handsome; somewhat tough exterior but sensitive and romantic underneath; plays guitar in his free time.

Hope this works for you! If not, feel free to let me know and I'll create another.

Here's my entry: Female Character 1

Constance Lord-Huntington, of the Manhattan, Newport, Palm Beach Lords, married to Lawrence Huntington. Any emotion Constance displays is deeply buried under layers of good breeding, so she comes off as an ice-queen. Short blond hair, steel blue eyes, long lithe build and the exact height of her husband.

Female Character 2

Laura Baker, 23, originally from California, moved to New Jersey after a short stint trying to break into modeling in New York. Works as a waitress, but wants to better herself by taking some college classes. Met Marty, her fiancee, at the restaurant where she works. She is 5'7", 115lbs, long auburn hair, green eyes. Nervous about meeting Marty's mother, especially as she is so ill.

OCC: Interesting mix of characters with lots of possibilities... OK, now what?

Sorry!

After asking for posts every day, I find a day where I could not get near a computer. What a great leader I am.

At any rate, here goes. I will start the IC thread today with my first post. Then hopefully, everyone else will chime in today. Then the next few days schedule is:

Tues. - Xan:M1, Mars:M2, Hon:F1, Sexy:F2 (Second Post)
Wed. - Xan:F2, Mars:F1, Hon:M1, Sexy:M2
Thur. - Xan:M2, Mars:M1, Hon:F2, Sexy:F1
Fri - Xan:F1, Mars:F2, Hon:M2, Sexy:M1
Sat - Xan:M1, Mars:M2, Hon:F1, Sexy:F2

I think, though we all would like to post once a day, after this weekend, I can see we need a back-up plan in case of problems. Any thoughts? My only thought is as long as people can be flexible, it will all workout. :)

The Ic Thread will be called They Met on a Train.

Just bumping this up so its easy to find for your correct post. :)

Wow, that was pretty tricky doing my first not-my-character post. I ended up keeping it short so I could really try to get the right style and I knew if I wrote too much right away it would start to revert to my style.

Post here after your first one and let me know what you thought about it.

I'm really impressed with everyone's posts. It took me a while to get into character but once I did it started flowing. This was a really good idea, Xantham!

That was a total trip! Trying to figure out the male psyche - and staying away from stereotypes. This is a great challange Xantham. Where did you ever get this idea? I am totally digging on this. The hard part is I find myself wanting to post more than once a day!

And can anyone feel the sexual tension building, or is it just me??

Kudos, Xantham!

I'm just wondering what the sex part is going to be like. Yikes! I've never given a blowjob before! This is a lot of fun :)

*SMIRK*

Hey, Mars, if you need any pointers, just talk to me. Been told I do an excellent job and I'd be happy to share what I know!

*running before he can catch me*

Sexy,

Yeah but when I'm the woman and you're the man are you going to be able to make me cum or am I going to have to fake it?

*watching as your head snaps back to glare at me*

*comes back, stands in front of Mars*

Well....let me say this....all have walked away satisfied - you, being a man, should be no more difficult. At least I'll know what you "should" like!

*skipping out while sticking out tongue*

Children, behave yourselves! Like, I should talk. Got to love the possibilities of this unique thread. I love writing outside of my experience. It's quite a challenge!

Well, I'm very glad that everone is enjoying the thread. I did worry at first that people would not find it as interesting as it sounded to me.

Hope everyone keeps having fun.

Please pardon the obvious cliche, but great minds think alike! It's great to be in such fine company.

This gets more fun with each post!

*runs after Sexy, tackles her and gives her a wedgie*

Hey guys, I just wanted to say...thanks for the pressure. Actually, the story wasn't as romantic as I wanted when all was said and done, but that's writing for you, sometimes the muse takes you somewhere you didn't know you were going.

*Gives Mars a look--you know the one--and goes over to Sexy to help her pull the wedgie out. Of course he doesn't use his hands.:) *

So tell me Mars.....how exactly did you give me a wedgie when I don't wear panties and have a sundress on???

*Ploooffp!*

*Scoots over to Xantham*

Thank you for helping....but curious as to exactly how you did that....OH....so that was YOU!

UMMMMMM!

*running back to keyboard for next brilliant additon to story*
