OOC -- "Vampires Suck"

List of important events to remember:

17 July 2017 -- Monday -- After sundown:
  • Mayhem exploded across the city.
  • Dozens, then hundreds, then thousands of people rushed about the city attacking other people like ferocious, rabid dogs.
  • These maniacs bit into the necks of their victims, then thirstily drank up the spewing blood as if it were water and they'd been lost in the Sahara for months.
  • The Emergency Broadcast System issued warnings telling people to barricade themselves in their homes and businesses.
  • There were far more questions about what was happening then there were answers.
  • One thing that appeared certain was that many of those attacked then became attackers themselves.

18 July 2017 -- Tuesday:
  • By sunrise:
    • The attacks had happened across the state, the country, and the world.
    • The death toll had risen rapidly: hundreds of thousands, millions, maybe billions!
    • Entire cities were overrun.
    • Across the globe, governments declared Martial Law and called out their militaries to deal with the maniacs but to no avail: the militaries fell victim to attacks and became essentially useless.
    • As their operators were killed, power plants, chemical facilities, and more failed (or soon would fail): power grids went dark; chemical plumes filled the air; gas and oil refineries went up in flames; nuclear reactors melted down.
    • Ships entering ports crashed into docks or ran aground; planes fell from the sky; major car pile ups jammed the highways and city streets.
  • After sunrise:
    • Most of the mayhem died down.
    • What madness continued seemed to be caused by survivors looting stores for supplies and trouble makers taking advantage of the lack of law enforcement.
    • The EBS continued to warn survivors to remain indoors.
  • By midday:
    • It seemed apparent that the maniacs wouldn't or couldn't operate in the light of day.
    • This and the fact that the maniacs seemed to have been after just the blood of their victims led the Press to begin calling them vampires and the event the "Vampire Uprising".

And that's were we are now.

FAQs:

Recently added FAQs (16 July):

What is the location of our story?

Capital City, a fictitious city.

How many people/vampires are there in Capital City?

Uncertain. However:
  • Capital City had a "pre-vampire uprising" population of 1 million.
  • It has been estimated that 1/4 to 1/2 of Capital City's population was killed the first night (17 July 2017).
  • The number of vampires is unknown but certainly in the thousands.

  • 32 years old.
  • Owner of Frankie's, a local sports bar and grill.
  • Wheelchair bound: at 22 was hit by a car while biking.
  • Single and currently not dating, but he is rarely lonely. (Everything still works down yonder, and -- of course -- his mouth still works.)
  • Stays in shape via daily exercise.
  • Very personable, very charismatic.
  • Has an apartment on the 3rd floor of the building in which Frankie's is located.

When the Vampire Uprising began (10 July 2017 -- Monday -- Sundown):
  • I had been in Frankie's, my bar and grill.
  • I told my patrons and employees both to get to their homes.
  • I locked up, lowered the metal security gates, and watched the madness, both on the television and through the windows of Frankie's.
  • Despite the security gates, the front windows were shattered.
  • I grabbed my Tablet and ensured that I could view the security cameras throughout Frankie's.
  • I bundled up in multiple layers of clothing (used for freezer stocking and inventory), then locked myself inside the walk-in refrigerator.

When the Role Play began (11 July -- Tuesday -- 2am):
  • I was still in the refrigerator.
