OOC: Vampire: The Hunted.

Okay, you can guess that this is a vampire thread by the title.

This will take place in the present day. The public has recently found out about the existence of vampires, and are hunting them. Their fear of the vampire has become a plague of violence and fanaticism. And it has also united segments of the population in unseen ways.

There is a prominent group who wish to live side by side with the vampire (so long as no humans are sacrificed). They called themselves the Order for Peace, or just the Order.

There is another, smaller, group who worships the vampires as nearly godlike. They are fragmented, and have no united name or leadership. Mostly cultlike.

And then there are the Human Fundamentalists, who advocate the eradication of all vampires. There goal is to unite the world under there creed. But the elite inner circle of the Fundamentalists has a secret. A wish to cultivate the strength and long-life of the vampire for their own gain. They experiment on any they can catch, in the hopes of using what they learn to give themselves the strength and immortality of the vampire, without any of the negative effects of the thirst for blood.

The majority of the human population live in fear in fortress-like homes (if they are wealthy) and apartment-like communes (if they are not), and never, ever, venture out at night.

It's your choice what you wish to play.

Some notes on vampires: They can be killed with sunlight, fire, and by dismembering them (but if they are dismembered, you have to do a good job of it. For example, a decapitated vampire can live for a time that way, and would in fact heal if his head were reattached). Stake to the heart does nothing, neither does the usual religious icon (crosses, etc. Vampires are not evil per se . . . they are just another species . . . and the top of the food chain. Just like a lion is not evil for eating an impala). They are allergic to silver, but it won't kill them. Merely painful, and it weakens them some.

Damien (not his real name, but what he is known by) is an ancient vampire. He's seen empires come and go in his life, and has a pragmatic view of the world. He has no need to feed any longer, but since the the hunt has begun, does so anyway. Blood is strength for his kind.

His age is apparent by any who look at him. His skin is smooth, and nearly bleached white, and has a translucent quality to it.

He has always spent his time alone.

He has recently been reawakened from a long slumber by an assassin from the Human Fundamentalists. He killed the man, and drank of him.

- Jewelry: Simple earings that can change daily. Simple ring in belly button. A necklace around her neck with a black stone one it. The stone has a purple swirl in hte middle.

Weapons: Daggers, her mind
Powers/skills: Alot she doesn't even know about. Extreamly resoursful and uses the computer alot.

Occupation: bussinesswoman who has accumulated a small fortune over the course of her life

Strengths: Dagger fighting, mind, loyalty (even when she is only loyal to herself)
Weaknesses: reminders of her past, loyalty, fear of snakes

Looks good to me.

You also reminded me of one important detail I left out.

Mind powers. Mostly hypnotic. Vampires have strength and other abilities, but nothing that a human does not have (they can jump quite high-like to a rooftop-but cannot fly).

He knows most about their strengths, and weaknesses, mostly by trial and error, fighting each one, trying different techniques, styles. He has grown in the past ten years, most succesful at both killing, and capturing the beasts, but he does not know why the fundamentalists want them alive. He believe he's working for a cause to destroy vampires, not harness their power.
Like everyone else, he's lost in the dark.
But, he doesn't mind. He has a job, and he gets it done. What else do you need, honestly?

High powered rifle, silver bullets. Special UV flashlights, sulfur grenades, huge explosions on impact. They can burn for hours and still live... it's amazing. ( lol... I know, Blade... but I'm not using a sword, so there's a small difference)

He wears mostly black, kevlar, very tough, sturdy shit. And a cross, around his neck. It doesn't help... but then again, it couldn't hurt.

Hadrian was one of the first vampires to be created in America. As such he has a different attitude than many of the "old world" vampires. He sees his relationship to humans as symbiotic rather than parasitic. Hadrian only kills those who he believes are worthy of death. Murderers, rapists, thieves and anyone who causes human suffering are his targets. He sees himself as a "culler of the herd" and actually believes that his predations are helping humanity to survive.

The recent exposer of vampires have shaken Hadrian as much as any human. He believed himself to be one of maybe a handful of vampires left in existence, now he realizes that vampires are everywhere. In light of this discovery Hadrian has taken it upon himself to "enlighten" his brethren and teach them to follow his beliefs. He feels that in this way he can elevate vampires from petty predators to enlightened hunters.

A bit more on the storyline (I had planned on leaving things vague, but was reminded by a friend that the strongest threads seem to have a strong direction):

Most of the truly ancient vampires are dead (my character is believed dead as well, I'll cover why in the story).

My character will be the oldest (but don't worry, I don't plan on taking an extraordinarily active role in this thread, more of a background character). This still leaves you with a lot of room, though. Damien is ancient.

I'd like a few more younger vampires if possible.

Also, the vampires should be aligned in a similar way as the humans. Some view them as nothing but food, and some have taken a more responsible view.

There will be a villain vampire as well, an evil kingpin-type (I'll play it . . . mostly because I know I'll let him die if necessary. A pet peeve of mine is the "super" character. I think the quickest way for a thread to die is to have the main adversary be unbeatable) who has spent his life siring his own private army of vamps. His goal? To consolidate all vampires under his rule. As such, he wants any and all ancient vampires dead, and has been feeding intelligence to the Fundamentalists.

If we're going to include telekinesis, I'd want it to be a minor ability, namely small objects (no picking up a car with your mind. You're not Yoda. ).

Telepathy is fine, but I'd like to put a limit on that as well. I'm thinking that only vampires who shared blood (if anyone has any idea on this, I'd love to hear them) or perhaps vampires cna only communicate with each other.

I'll wait a few days to see if you're all okay with the additions, or if any new people will be joining us.

Also, feel free to post any suggestions you might have. I want this thread to work, and I've found that the more input the writers have, the better the chance of the thread being a success.

Marco is the leader of a relatively new coven of vampires. His background is hazy. Little is known about him beyond the fact that he's old.

Over the millennia he's been turning vampires a prolific rate, all of whom remain loyal to him. His thirst for power is mirrored only by his cruelty and his blood lust.

He deems any who oppose him, vampire or otherwise, as an enemy.

She managed to kill the vampire who turned her but not before she gleaned a name. Damien... after that she came to grips with her new nature and decided to hunt this ancient who surely must be behind all the evil. Right? well either way he was a vampire and deserved to die as far as she was concerned. She is quiet and withdrawn with a fraility that is only in looks alone. Her stength even for a 300 year old is quite good.
Weopons: Nikki carries a pistol with silver tipped bullets and crossbow that shoots silver stakes. True it wont' kill the vampire but it would sure hurt like hell and slow them down. She uses gloves to protect herself from the allergy.

She told him to hide and he did. He could still see everything, his mother never had a chance. The vamp ripped apart her throat vicioulsly and sucked her down. His hate had been gathering for years since the event. Jake has trained and learened all that he could from anything he could get his hands on. He thought he was ready to fight back.

I want to stay away from the 'born' vampires.

As far as witches go, sure. Just keep in mind that I don't want anyone to be too strong, or have too many 'mind powers' (I think it hurts the roleplay).

Other than that, go with it.

Her Dark Father, Cardan, had fallen in love with Shylah's mother, and swore vengeance on the killers. He found them and attacked with a fury, but lost his own life in the process. Cardan's brother, Caedmon, took the newly turned Shylah and fled for safety. To his own sire, Damien. Caedmon, grieving for his brother's death (they were twins when they were mortal, and were turned together), left Shylah in the care of Damien. For 600 years she stayed by his side, until finally, Caedmon came for her. She has been with him ever since, travelling the world as he once did with his brother.
