This probably isn't such a good idea, but I thought it might be worth the try.
I believe that there are at least some JRR Tolkien fans on this board, who have read the Lord of the Rings and maybe even the Silmarillion.
Now, I am aware that sex does not really feature in Tolkien's works...but who says this has to stay that way?
Beautiful Elf-maidens, handsome Edain, cute Hobbit lads and lasses...I think something might be done here.

If any of you are interested, please post here!

THat could be changed, depending on what Time period we are in...
Is the War Of the Ring Over?
or Not even begun yet?
Has the Ring Been Found? Has it Been Destroyed??

There are ALOT Of Questions to ask and awanser..

Fine then Roland, (pain in the rump that you are sometimes, I wonder why I love you? :p ), IF it is set in that time frame, I call Arwen.

I think LOTR would be easier by far to do than the Silmarillion. The Valar alone can get confusing. LOTR is better know and the participation level would probably be better.

Well yes, I had thought that maybe the Elder Days would be a little more epic, but most of the story would have to be pre-set and besides, I don't know how many people here have read the Sil.
My proposition would be the beginning of the Fourth Age--maybe some five years or so after the destruction of the One Ring.
I'm open to suggestions, though

Fourth Age could work, not too long after the destruction of the One Ring. Too long after that and most of the Elves will hav either faded or gone over the sea.

Unless, of course, we fudge a little and keep the Three Elven Rings in Middle Earth. Really, we can do whatever we want.

Also, would it be done here or on the ORP board?

Weeeelll, as I said in my first post, I wondered wether some...sexual interest could be brought into Middle-Earth.

I'm not sure wether it's really a good idea though.

Gotcha!

Sorry, been hanging around the ORP board too much. :)

I think there are sexual possibilities in Middle Earth. Lover's trysts in enchanted glades, dark assignations in mysterious caves, the quest of the Seven Virgins (ok, I made that one up), finally answering the eternal question what do Wizards wear under their robes. Let's see, maidens seduced by shape-shifting dragons, magical elixers that render those that partake free of inhibitions are other ideas.

Obivously, I like the idea and I do think Fourth Age would be best, move away from established characters and I think there would be more freedom to engage in carnal pleasures.

ok then...maybe we should discuss some ideas for the background history and then start the whole thing?

my Idea...

It's approx 1432 in the shire reckoning, It's pretty early into the fourth age...This gives us a shot At any sort of storyline..

Oh and if the Quest of the Seven Virgins exists, I am calling that RIGHT NOW. *LMAO*

As what, one of the virgins? :D (Sorry Roland, I had to. You know life would be too dull without you here.)

Lightman, let me think about it and I'll get back to you post haste with any ideas.

Hmmm I'm definatly interested but I must admit that I have only read half of the first book. So I only know some of the basics of the story and would have to create a guy since I couldnt do any of the existing ones justice. If that's cool with you, then I'd like to take up a part in the thread. :)

Sure Thang Renagade..I Could see you as a (cough~WellEndowed~cough) Man Of Gondor or The mark...

Yes I know kitten eyes. (giggles slightly) And I love ya for it. (Tackles you and Lix)

Speak 'friend' and enter....

Friend....
may I enter?
I have loved the Tolkien books since childhood and would love to play , whats open and wouldnt a quest for virgins keep coming up short???

sure anyone who read LOTR is welcome.
Now, as the beginning settting, I would suggest some kind of really big festival, in Minas Tirith, Rivendell, or somewhere in the Shire, where all Free People of Middle-Earth are invited(well...obviously not everyone's gona go....but at least one can pick any race that way)
Waddaya think?

Actually, Unless My Elvish is Off, The Word is Mallon!

But anyway, I need to know a few more specifics...Then i'll have enough to write a background idea..

Friend

true but that was the whole point... Gandalf used all those spells and powers and it wasnt until he realized that in those days all you had to do was say you were a friend ;-)

I havent readthe books in years though and i wonder what characters are still avaliable

whoa..

how did I pass this? A huge fan. Though I read the books at thirteen, I don't remember a lot. However, I would love to play a wizard, or maybe a fair virgin, or even, A cute lil elf. Tell me what part YOU want me to play. I would love to be a wizard. Sort of like in Le Guin's books. SOrry, I always get them mixed up because I read the books at the same time. Anyways. Let me know! There are a lot of Great writers here....

well the thing is that in Tolkien's world, the only real wizards ever to exist(Gandalf, Saruman, Radagast, you could maybe count Sauron as one) were Maiar, that is to say, a kind of lower Gods, from the land beyond the western sea. None of these remain in middle-earth in the Fourth Age(except maybe the Blue Wizards in the east--none ever knew what happened to them)
But the Elves do seem to have at least a small amount of 'magic' power...and I think we might maybe stretch the whloe thing a little.

I don't really believe in setting other people's characters, but I might have some suggestions for you, lava:
Am attractive elf-maid, who posesses some 'magic' skills...not exactly throwing fireballs and such, but maybe some healing powers...or the skill to make not-too-powerful magic items(I'm probably making myself a lot of ennemies among Tolkien purists here, but if we're going to do this, we'll have to change some things, anyway.

By the way, no one answered me on my festival idea...would that be a good starting for you?

Sorry, it's been a hectic day.

I like the idea of a festival and I agree with Minas Tirith. Any remaining pockets of evil (hence adventure) would be nearby.

As Lightman said, in the Fourth Age, most of the characters from LOTR would no longer be present and much of the great magic gone. My suggestion is to use LOTR as a guide rather than a script, use races (elves, humans, dwarves, etc.) as defined by Tolkien. The Fourth Age is the Age of Man.

While the magic of the Maiar is gone, why can't we find a new kind of magic? (Hehe, like sex magic?)

well yes, but we're playing in the first few years of the Fourth Age, where the other races are still quite present in middle-earth...we might even strengthen their presence a little..after all, its OUR roleplay ;)

I agree that a new from of magic would be a good idea...hmm, sex magic certainly sounds goos...

Ok, I like the idea of keeping the Elves around, though I still think, IMHO, we should go with mostly new characters. (Although I always felt Faramir was really underdeveloped and Aragorn still has amny adventures to be had.)

Probably the fewer guidelines, the better. As long as everyone has fun, does it really matter?
