Alright,so this is a remake of an old thread I made a long time ago known as the world below.The World below was a highly popular thread but sort of lost track when there were many conflicts amongst the different writers that were a part of it.I hope that won't be a problem this time.
The World Below
Welcome to The World Below.Forget what you know because none of it is real.Blow all those illusions out of your mind that tell you that humans are alone in the world,that humans are the dominant speices on the planet and that their reign over the world is utter and complete.Below the world people like you and me live in is the world below: A land filled with things that are supposed to only be legends: Vampires,Were wolves,Ghosts and many other supernatural and scary monsters that flood the media.
Well,its no joke.The sound you hear at night when the windows rattle yet there is no wind.The feeling you get in the back of your mind when you walk home alone at night when you think someone is stalking you.All the weird things you see that you don't think you saw because of the sheer weirdness of the action,all of these things are the world below.Now despite the fact that it doesn't show up in any news reports or on any TV shows,the world below is not as calm as the world of humans,there is a war that is raging between all of the different occupants of the night,there is blood fueds age old that fuel these fights.Were wolf attacks are covered up as animal attacks,Vampire killings the work of mobs,no one knows what is really going on but the war cannot be contained for very much longer,it is starting to spill out onto the streets,the streets of humans.
Who fights in this war? who are the inhabitants of The World Below? Well,heres a basic look at who really controls the streets at night:
Vampires:When you hear vampire,you think of Dracula sucking blood of innocent people or the vampires you see in Anne Rice books who are completely immortal against everything and just sort of live life as gods hiding amongst men.Vampires are not really like that.Vampires look like humans in all ways shape and form yet they are not like humans.Vampires,being dead have no heat and have no pulse.They have above average strength and speed(not godlike,like some people believe). So they are not much different than some well trained and fit humans,accept for sucking blood from people.Where the Vampires shine is in their mass resources,the entire order of vampires owns hundreds of multi-billion corperations.They have state of the art weaponry,Premission to use anything since they pretty much control the court system,the justice system,the police everything.They have connections on all levels of government and society.Their weaknesses are Sunlight,which completely eridicates them.UV,which burns them badly,the longer its on them the more it effects them.Silver weaponry can kill them(bullets and silver lined melee weapons) and Garlic is highly effective,not by waving a stick of garlic at them but highly processed and compounded garlic can cause vampires to go into anabolactic shock.Also EDTA,an anti coagulate used by doctors can also effect vampires.The vampires are ruled by the council and have safe houses and all sorts of mansions all over the world for vampires to seek sancutary,they are well organized yet very secretive.The vampires have a blood fued with the Lycans and are constant at war with them.
Lycans:Lycanthropes or Lycans for short are humans who are infected with Lycanthropy,which is a disease that gives them the ability to change shape into either an animal form or into a hybrid form.Everyone knows what a werewolf is so everyone knows what a Lycanthrope is.The lycans can come in many forms though,they can be in Bear,Wolf,Tiger,Rat,Hawk and many other animals,mostly whatever you can think of,they can be.The Lycans live in clans by what kind of animal they can become but because of the war with Vampires,many clans have united or at least called truces to take arms up against the Vampires.The lycans,though powerful in their alternate form,are nothing more than guerillas.They often live underground of in really poor sections of cities because all lycans are poor and destitute.They are not unorganized but don't have the financial strength of the vampires,which makes them more like renegade fighters than anything.But what they lack in financial means to fight,they make up for brute strength and numbers.Lycans are secretive and underground,but it is easy to give the disease to other people,all they have to do is bite them,where vampires must go through certian processes to turn people.That means the lycans can create armies of strong warriors.The lycans have weaknesses though,they are deathly allergic to silver.Silver causes them to die almost instantly after entering their system.Despite the fact that they are insanely tough and animalistic,they can be killed by convientenal means,like shooting them enough times but usually,when your fighting a Lycan,you don't have enough regular bullets or enough time to kill them conventually.
Supernatural:The supernatural are easy to explain.They are ghosts,demons and other things that sort of haunt the night.They are not a really organized army but a demon can be an extremely tough opponent when you have to face one,they are really hard to kill.Ghosts,being incorpreal cannot be killed by convientual means and have no real way of killing them and they can become invisable and go through walls.There is not much to say on the supernatural but I am sure you get the picture.
Hunters:Hunters are humans who know about the World Below.They accept and understand that there is really vampires,lycans and other critters running around at night.They are the check against they creatures and they are one of the main reasons the war has not spilt onto the streets because the Hunters are always there to cover things up.Hunters are humans who are well armed but are very very few in numbers.They work in different cells and have no centeral leadership yet they work togather mostly.Every night,hunters are out on the front lines,fighting against Vampires,Lycans and whatever else because they know that no matter who wins the war -unless its them- humans lose.There is not much to say about weaknesses when it comes to humans because well,they are just flesh and blood mortals that can be killed by all conviental means.
The thread is set in modern day and is in a major city(either chicago,LA or New York City).I am looking for talented writers,so if you would like to join,create a profile for yourself and post it here in the OOC or just send me a PM and we can work out the details.I am looking forward to a fun thread,so please JOIN!
