The Spirit Lover
Testing the literary waters *s.
Background:
The old and run down mansion was set back from the street on a large lot. The gardens were over grown and weedy and the lawn in need of cutting and many of the large trees could stand a pruning. The circular drive looped under a portico at the front of the house and or around back to the large detatched garage.
It was on a hillside and looked down into the valley and the town of Cranehill and its small college. The scene very pastoral and the patio behind the house has a large stone grill/fireplace combination.
The house itself was three stories high, including the full walk around attic, but not counting the basement. It was of brick construction so the weathered walls looked like exactly what they were, weathered brick. They had the character the patina of age gives to brick; however, all of the wood trim was in need of paint and the windows were coated with grime.
A veritible army of work men descended on the propery after the For Sale/Sold sign was removed and in weeks the place sparkled and the yard looked positively marvelous with new flowers planted and everything else attended to by the landscapers.
The second floor and attic have been turned into apartments with cooking facilities limited to a hot plate and bathrooms shared between every two apartments, of which there are four per floor for a total of eight, much like a dorm. The kitchen, dining are and great room are all commual areas.
The basement remains largely untouched, other than three new washing machines and dryers. The gas boiler for the steam heating system is there as well as the commercial sized hot water heaters, and perhaps more, perhaps.
A new sign was erected out front. It read: Cranehill Overlook Apartments, College Students Preferred.

Unbeknownst to all, since of course there are no such things as ghosts or spirits, for all of the years since his demise the original owner has remained in residence.
His spirit has stayed where he'd been shot by the jealous boyfriend, or as they were called back then beau, of the woman he was in bed with at the time.
His wealth had allowed him to live the lifestyle of a headonist and libertine. He'd cut a wide swath through the women in the area, unmarried and married alike for it made no difference to him either way.
He'd been a fine figure of a man. Standing over six feet tall with broad shoulders and chest. He rode the area on one of his blooded horses and his auburn hair with it's red and golden highlights would flash in the sunlight.
He still looked the same, when he chose to reveal himself.
Now, when there were people in residence, he generally preferred to 'visit' them in their dreams where he would lead them into lewd and liscencious dreams with him taking a very active role, and, should the dream include more than one person, where he took over the dominent role.
The last occupants of the manison had left after a few years when the wife and the teen aged daughter began to show signs of "unacceptable" behavior and kept blaming it on him and their dreams and even repeated trips to a psychologist couldn't disavow them of those feelings and thoughts. Nor the certainty that he'd visited each of them on some nights in a more physical way. Their soreness and other physcial signs, like bruises on breasts and ass cheeks, made those claims hard to refute unless they'd been self administered, which both denied. They both said he vascillated between a tender and gentle lover and near brutal rapist in both their dreams and in what they physically felt when "with him".
Now he stood, if that's the correct terminology, on the widow's walk overlooking the backyard and valley waiting as patiently, as only those with unlimited time can display, wondering who would be the new residents of his home and if he'd take a walk on the grounds, perhaps go to the gazebo.

Now the apartments are for rent to male or female students preferrably but not exclusively.
~~~
When asleep or perhaps, just perhaps, when alone he may visit. Otherwise interaction(s) depend on the residents and their guests.
