The year is 234 AE, Age of Empire. The Terran Imperium is the inheritor of the mantle of the United Federation of Planets, shattered a millenia ago in all-out war with its enemies. A terrible weapon, the StarKiller, was created by Federation scientists, one which shattered the very fabric of subspace, making travel at warp speeds impossible. So far as they knew, it also destroyed the home systems of their enemies, as well as every single ship in the entire galaxy.

The time after the doomsday weapon's deployment was a true dark age, the nuclear fires of the stars themselves being dampened in its fury. Civilization across the galaxy crumbled, as no interstellar communication was possible, much less travel between the stars. The old technology was largely forgotten in the struggle for survival; humans began to forget that there even were other populated worlds in the galaxy.

Towards the end of the dark age, subspace began to return to normal, and the former laws of physics began to reassert themselves, making technological progress possible once more. When humanity re-discovered warp technology, those in power were the strongest of a brutal world. They chose to use this capability in conquest.

Once they had uncovered old starcharts and records of the age of the Federation, they decided to style themselves an Empire. They explored what were to them, strange new worlds, they sought out new life and civilizations, they boldly went where mankind had gone long before... and conquered.

The Imperium now consists of many of the worlds of the former Federation, including the homeworlds of the Andoran, Telluran, Betazoid, and Bajoran peoples. When the Imperium's conquering fleets met up with the Allied Kingdoms, comprised primarily of the Vulcan, Romulan, Cardassian, and Klingon peoples, however, they met their match in sheer ferocity and territorial hunger.

After one hundred years of bloody war, a Neutral Zone, several parsecs wide, was established as a buffer between the empires. Now, that Neutral Zone is home to many of those uncomfortable with the laws of either empire. It is a haven for criminals and outlaws as well as those seeking freedom.

Our story begins just after the capture and trial of two of the Neutral Zone's most famous outlaws, the pirate captain, Proteus (Neale), a shapeshifter from the Delta Quadrant and his first mate, Marra (Isolde), a human from the planet reknowned for providing the Empire with its greatest elite warriors, Daxam. They were sentenced to death, and publicly executed. However, they didn't actually die. The Black Hands, the secret service of the Terran Empire, had other plans for them.

They were given a chance to live, if they would perform a dangerous service for the empire. A team of archaeologists had uncovered records of a starship from the age of the Federation, specially equipped just before the StarKiller's deployment. It had been hoped that its special shielding would enable it to survive the effects of the weapon. This ship's computer had been loaded with all the knowledge stored in the entire Federation main libraries. In order to maximize its chances for survival, they decided to let it ride out the blast in a location far from Earth, one in which they calculated the weapon's effects would be minimal.

The archaeologists had been able to deduce from the records that the location of the ship was somewhere within what was now known as the Neutral Zone. The Black Hands believed that Proteus and Marra would have the knowledge and skills needed to survive within the Neutral Zone, and explore it, looking for the ship. They were to be accompanied by one of the Federation's top operatives, who would be implanted with the control devices, enabling him to have the power of life, death, or excruciating pain over the pirates.

It is suspected that spies working for the Allied Kingdoms have revealed this discovery to their superiors, and that there may be competition looking for the prize.

OOC: We already have the operative, and these others have agreed to play:
Operative: MrSand
Allied Kingdoms searchers: Licci~Nicci, lavagoddesss
Fellow outlaws: Anakin20
Unknown: mfucker

Anyone who wants to join in, please feel free. Possible characters include other pirates captured along with Marra and Proteus, people working for the Allied Kingdoms against us, other outlaws living in the Neutral Zone, or whatever sounds interesting. I deliberately chose to place this in the far future of the Star Trek series, so we could have a common idea of what kind of technology and races exist. The ships and weapons of the current Empire and Kingdoms are about at the level of the original Star Trek series.

Isolde and I always welcome inexperienced players, so please don't feel overawed by the size of this post. We play nice, really! ;)

Sex isn't the focus of this thread, but I sincerely hope we have some!

Neale, hon, is this the OOC or where we do our posting. You have me confuzed.

ooc: referred here by the overpowering authority of Isolde...

ic:
I will play I suppose :)

Name: Nil Galanti
Race: Bajoran
Occupation: Full-time Procurer of Other People's Goods
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 190 lbs pounds (fairly solid fellow)
Eyes: Green to hazel
Hair: None, top of head is covered with an intricate bajoran tribal tat

Will accompany intrepid adventurers on suicide mission... mostly because the Empire will kill him now if he doesn't!

Wow

OOC: I'd like to get in on this. Just curious does this doomsday weapon work on Omega Molecules? Because I was watching an episode of Star Trek: Voyager where they said when Omega Molecules become unstable (and they always have because 3 seconds is the longest one molecule has ever been stable) they create a subspace explosion destroying subspace and making warp travel impossible. I was wondering if that's where you got the idea.

That would be a question for our trivia expert (Neale).

But you are welcome to join. Simply post your char....whether you want to be part of our crew or the pirates and your stats..race, etc.

Neale, I would like to sign up for the mission (or anything else if you're looking for the thread to be broader than the mission). Once again, in typical fashion, I'm going to the bizzarre end - a mongrel race psychotic.

Name: Hator "Hate" M'lisse
Sex: Female
Race: Mongrel - Human/Klingon/Bajoran/Vulcan/Trill/Cardassian/Ferengi/Betazoid/Gorn, mostly by rape and use of slaves within the more violent races
Height: 5'7"
Build: Sleekly muscular
Overall: When you breed a mongrel dog, you tend to inherit qualities from each parent, and eliminate the best and worst of each in the new mutt. Sometimes, however, the worst of each breed is found within the new mongrel. In Hate's case, she has gained many 'enchanting' qualities from her forebears: from Klingon, she has blood-lust and a natural battle power; from Vulcan, she gained a disdain for emotions and a good sense of logic (when not overwhelmed by her numerous problems); from Bajoran, independence and a twisted sense of aesthetic; from Cardassian a secretive and power-loving nature; from Ferengi, greed and a sense of profit; from Betazoid, a mystical drive based in her uncontrolled bursts of telepathic insight; from Gorn, strength and a respect only for the strong. Finally, from her human and trill background, she knows she will never be accepted anywhere. This makes her powerful, driven, and more than a little psychotic. She has been an outcast all her life, and does not even recall how she survived childhood. For this reason, though she speaks, it is in her own pidgin English. Her mysterious nature, and sudden telepathic insights make her see herself in the third person. She is as deformed as you would imagine from her ancestry. She has lived as long as she can remember as a thug, a thief and a mercenary for hire. Unfortunately, her last employer, on realising just what he was hiring, turned her over to the authorities. They did manage to take her down, but not before she had killed three police (sorry, minds not working right, can't recall startrek version of police), the last with her bare hands - they found her eating his face. She is powerful, and generally controlled, so, as a way of getting rid of her, she was assigned to what was almost hoped to be a suicide mission.

hmm...

neale managed to forget me over the week ago or so he invited me here....

well, if i'm still wanted neale/isolde, please email me or pm me.

My character

with your permission here is my character

Name: Chock Terrel
Sex: M
Age: 24
Race: half-human/half-Ferrangi
Occupation: business man (of course)
Height: 5'5 (taller than the average Ferrangi shorter than the average human)
Weight: 155 lbs pounds
Eyes: brown
Hair: none
Background: The son of a Ferrangi businessman and a human woman. Chock is an accomplished businessman who lives by the Rules of Acquisition as if it were the Holy Bible. He is less greedy and more honest than most Ferrangi and much better looking since he is half human. His body and head look mostly human except for the Ferrangi ears. No hair but at least his head is shaped similar to the average human. He loves the Oomax (the Ferrangi equivalent of oral sex which involves massaging, fingering, and blowing in the ear, it may sound sick but I'm getting this from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine so blame Gene Roddenberry and Rick Berman)

*smiles sheepishly*

Doh! My apologies, I was in the wrong thread! Sorry!

Trekkie

Call me a Trekkie nerd but I've seen every episode of every Star Trek series and most of the TNG DS9 and V episodes a few times. I know practically everything there is to know about it. The only thing I can't do is name off episode numbers by title and plot.

Shawn, yer a Trekkie Nerd

there u go :)

now who else wants to play?

Operative M

Here's info on my character:

Name: Operative M
Race: unknown; looks human
Age: unknown; possibly mid-late 30's

The Terran Empire's operative within the pirate crew is known only as Operative M. He is a tall, slender man, with dark brown hair and dark blue eyes. His features are handsome, if slightly hawkish, and seems to be held in a perpetual frown. He rarely smiles, and on the rare occasions that he does, it is usually a cruel one. The Operative wears non-descript black coveralls, which cover his entire body from the neck down, with the exception of his hands.

Operative M has a dour personality, but on the rare occasions when he does talk about something other than the mission, a man of great intellect and a taste for the finer things in life is revealed. M is also fiercely loyal to the Empire, and has often said that he will defend its name even if it costs him his own life.

hey

I've revised my character slightly. He does not live by the Rules of Acquisition that strictly, tho he does follow some of them. Also he is secretly selling weapons to all sides of the war, The Terran Imperium, the Klingons, Vulcans, Romulans, and Cardassians, and the the neutral zone pirates.

Hiya, peoples!

Hokay... just want to point out one tiny little detail. This really and truly isn't a Trek thread, despite the setting. I just used that to provide a framework familiar to most people. I'm playing fast and loose with whatever seems best for the story. While ripples of Omega thingies belike were stirring in the back of my brain, more credit goes to recent issues of Legion of Superheroes. :)

I only mention this to avoid any kind, well-meaning souls pointing out inconsistencies, or things like the relative locations of the various planets in question precluding any sane rationale for the political alignments I listed. Such well-meaning souls would be responded to by a barrage from the Type II (Dodgeable) Phaser I keep handy for just such occasions. Any bits of vapor left over would then be turned over to Isolde. And, friends, the Agonizer was patterned to duplicate the sensations she induces with her bare hands (and a few, select kitchen implements).

Name: Jenny Tarot

A freelancer, who has received the employment of both the Empire and the Kingdom. A spy-cum-assasin, she is extremely hard to trace, and in fact had 'offered' her services to both organisations, under different guises. An adventurer by nature, she is curious about the expedition, and would not for anything in the world miss it. Of course, a bonus would be to steal the discovery from right under their noses....

Okay...lets see what we have..

For the Outlaw crew, we have:

Anikin20 (still need a profile from him)

Kitsuke

BadForm

mfucker

We need to know which side Shawn and Tumyo is on but for now I assume they are outlaws. If this is wrong, let me know.

MrSand is there as an addition to our team...from the Empire.

Since Lucci~Nicci is the only one active at this point for the Allied Forces, I will assume she is captain. We dont know what happed to LavaGoddess but hope she joins us later.

We need a bio for Lucci and Tumyo and we need more people for the crew of the Allies....right now we seem to be fine with the OutLaws portion...

Anyone wanting to join Lucci's Team..please speak up!

My character

technically Chock is an outlaw however he does secretly sell weapons to everyone. Reason:

Rules of Acquisition
34. War is good for business.
177. Know your enemies... but do business with them always.

*waves*

Though I’m a newbie, I would like to join if possible and try my hand at a science fiction story line. You may place my character with either the Empire or Allied Kingdoms.

Name: Emi Kyouri
Occupation:Chief Medical Doctor
Race: Female Betazoid
Height: 5’4, petite and graceful
Eyes: Regular large Betazoid black irises
Hair: Midnight black, long and straight

Info: Though small and delicate, Emi graduated top of her class. Her Betazoid telepathic abilities provide an unmatched advantaged as a doctor. As a medical doctor, she has a very warm personality, kind and caring. She is a very passionate woman both in life and with her work.

And now from the biggest trekkie of all...

Race: Half Vulcan Half Betaziod (I know both races controdict each other too...)
Age: 26
Rank: Lutenant, Junior Grade (I know I spelt something wrong there)
She has served in the Allied forces for six years, and is a seasoned vetran with the attacks from the Empire. However, now they brought in this new weapon, it was making things all the more intresting...

Character description

Isolde pointed out that I hadn't actually posted a character description for Proteus... oopsie!

Proteus is a fully-skilled shapeshifter from the Delta Quadrant. He left them a few hundred years ago to travel the hard way to this region of space. He was very, very bored by the monotony of existence found on their homeworld.

Upon arrival in the Alpha Quadrant, he joined a pirate crew, slaying one of its members, and replacing him. Ultimately, he slew the captain of the Stacked Deck, and replaced him. Some time after that, he decided to openly reveal himself as a shapeshifter to his crew. They relished the opportunity to work for such a powerful captain, and the celebration went on for days.

Earlier, he had instituted a merit system amongst his crew. Anyone who could outshoot or outfight him was welcome to take over the captaincy, with no retribution to the victor or loser. Every once in a while, he will challenge one of his better crewmembers, always winning, and never seriously injuring a challengee. The first creature in this area who has proven to be a near-match to him (so he thinks) in ferocity and skill was Marra. Thus far, he has retained his seat, but would not be overly upset if she were to defeat him, which he sometimes suspects she may be able to do.

Typically, Proteus assumes the appearance of an old-Earth era pirate captain, Blackbeard.

Marra

*Shhhh, I didnt tell Neale I kinda forgot to post for Marra too. What he doesnt know wont hurt him though*

Marra is, as stated from the planet Daxam. Daxam was a planet discovered shortly before the big explosion. From this planet is taken the best soldiers for the elite corpse of the Empire. The Terran Empire's Imperial Guard.

They are prized for their standards of fierceness, loyalty and physical poweress which is taught to them from the time they can walk. The gravity on Daxam is five times that of earth so when the troops are on a planet with lesser gravity pull, their strength and agility is increased. And, when they are on a planet close to the gravity of Daxam, they are not affected by it like other races are.

Daxamites are known to have titanium in their blood and bones. Their forefathers were bio-engineered to use that instead of calcium. The Empire has 'improved' on that feature and used the Daxamites as experiments in further bio engineering. Replacing cartlige with weapons made of the titanium that is so necessary to their bodies has become almost a ritual among the people once they are admitted into the corpse.

Marra is a former member of the Imperial Guard. The only problem is she was never happy with the blind loyalty bit and soon, much to her families dismay and dishonor, left the elite corpse. And since none were allowed to leave once they have entered, she left a trail of bodies in her passage, barely escaping into the neutral zone.

Joining up with The Stacked Deck, she became a pirate and lived a life free from the constraints her people had put upon themselves. When Proteus captured the ship and slew her captain, it ended up with her and him in a battle to the death. He fully matched her capabilities with his own and, she was so impressed to find someone who could that she stopped the fight and joined him instead saying that it would be a shame to kill such promising talent and that she needed to stick around to teach him how to really fight.

From that day on, she has been one of the few to challenge and match his shooting challenge. She is very content to let him take the captain's seat while she occupies the seat of first mate. Her favorite saying is,"If this bucket of rust falls from the sky, you are more than welcome to go with it while I direct the crew to escape pods."

She does have built in wepontry, some that the Empire is not aware of as she got it after leaving the corpse. These will be revealed as the story unfolds.
