(OOC) The First Legion - CASTING CALL

I had an idea for a story about the first Roman Legion to land in England at the beginning of the Roman invasion of The British Isles. The story will center around the Legion's current sword champion, Daniel (played by me). This story will tell the story of the struggle of the Roman soldiers. The General of the Roman Legion is jelous of the respect the soldiers show to Daniel, and will go to great lengths to get rid of the threat to his power. The General has sent Daniel on many dangerous missions over the past year, trying to get him killed but it hasn't worked yet. He is beginning to realize that Daniel has an uncanny ability to fight, or when the need arises, escape.
The other characters I am looking for are:

General ?????? - commander of the Legion

British Native, primarily a young lady who is in a position of power(I'll leave the details up to whoever chooses this character)

Other possible characters:
Daniel's Best Friend

A Commander of the British resistance

Other English people, maybe a few more people from the English countryside, captured as the Legion establishes its beachhead for the Roman Invasion.

The only restrictions on characters is that they are realistic, (human) and I think that they should all speak Latin, for ease of communication between the Latin speaking soldiers and the natives. (They can also speak other languages as well) Hopefully this will ease a potential problem.

I don't really see a good role for me to take here, but I have a little suggestion to make to help your characters' language situation. Make the legion an auxilliary force rather than a core Roman one. Romans did often, AFAIK, built units out of the people of the territories they took over. So, if your legion is an English auxilliary, then soldiers would be English born and would have no trouble communicating with the resistance and civilian folks.

That is an interesting idea. I'll post back in the next day or so whether I will be changing it to a British Legion. If you dont see a character that would be fitting for you, just PM me with a character that you would like to play and I'll tell you if it is what I'm looking for.

After a little thought I have decided to make the following changes. The Legion of which the story will be part of will now be the first legion created by the Roman's after their invasion of England. This is comprised of mostly English soldiers, but the officers, including Daniel and maybe a few other characters will be Roman soldiers, that are in charge of the fresh English legion. How does that work with everyone?

I am interested in the part of the female "British native". As for her "position of power" I was thinking that she could be the leader of the British rebels who oppose the Roman invasion. She could eventually be captured by Daniel or something like that. Let me know what you think.

This all sounds great. I'll be starting this up within a day or two, just to give a little more time for some people to join. Also, If we could get some bio's it would be nice. Here's mine.
Name: Daniel Enex
Height: 5'9"

Background:
Daniel was born in Rome, to a very poor family. During his childhood, Daniel walked the streets of Rome, learning how things worked and more importantly, to take care of himself. In his teens, a local merchant came to collect payment, which Daniel's father did not have. A month later Daniel was sold into slavery, along with the rest of the family, to pay the debt. At 16 he was seperated from his family and a year later ended up in the Gladiatorial arena. this is where Daniel learned to fight. He survived his three years in the arena, then purchased his freedom. The problem was, he had nowhere to go. His best option was to join the Legions. At 22 he became Legion Champion, and now, two years later he still holds the title. In his time with The Eagle Legion he earned the position of Centurion, due to his knowledge of battle and tactics. When the time came to form the First Legion of british troops, his name immediatly came up and he was reassigned to the newest Roman Legion. Only the third legion of Roman troops in The British Isles, when they finally came to full strength they constituted one third of the 15000 soldiers on the island. The General's in charge of the Invasion force however, consider the First Legion as expendable because it is comprised mostly of soldiers not born in the Roman Empire. They have been the first soldiers to meet the enemy in every battle since their creation.

Background:
Like Daniel - Alexander too was born in Rome, but to a middle class family. He did not have a luxury filled life, having to do everything himself and work real hard - but he was spared from many of life’s problems. A very educated man, as his parents worked extra hard to send him to schools around Rome. An excellent student which gained him the respect for his views on politics and much more. At the age of 18 he joined the Legions and this is where he met Daniel Enex. The two, both gifted in combat - Daniel more with the sword and Alexander in hand to hand - although from completely different backgrounds - quickly became friends.

And it is from there that they have fought side by side, firstly in the Eagle Legion and now in the Legion currently occupying Britain. He is now Daniel‘s second in charge. Alexander has a deep hate for the General and takes his work very seriously. But out of the battlefield he is a joker, a bit of a charmer and has a great lust for women - and hopes to make the best of his time in Britain.

Background:
Brietta was born and raised in Britain. Her father was the leader of one of Britain's many celtic clans. Her mother died giving birth to her and her father refused to ever marry another woman, saying he could never love another woman as he had her mother. Since she was an only child Brietta's entire life was spent prepairing her for her future leadership of the clan. Under her father's guidance she became a fierce and powerful warrior, her favorite weapon (and the one she was most skilled at) being the bow. When he died in one of the first battles against the Romans she became leader of their clan and continued on his dream of uniting the clans against the invaders and driving all of Rome out of Britain.
