The man in black fled across the desert and the gunslinger followed

I dunno if this should be placed in the SRP category, but I thought an homage to signor Stephen Kings magnum opus would be an interestuing thread to folow

the characters would not be the ka-tet of the 7 novels

or as Jake said himself " There are more worlds than these"

I dont want to spoil how the series ends, but there are more than one reality and more than one path to the tower and more than one ka-tet that can be fated to make the journey

I obviously would seek a gunslinger..or I could play one myself..eiother playing a male role or trained by one of the last "before the world moved on"

some commala commala, commala with me

long days and plesant nights

and the tower is closer...

Sounds good to me, BBS..id be in, but not sure of what character to play. Would be nice to be back in a thread with you, since the others kinda died =(

thankee sai

first of all..have you read the Dark Tower series..that might be good start, or I could give a refresher course for the interested

as for the other thrads..I'm probably going to post something in Dawn of the Dead from Amy's view point soon

A basic outline "refresher course' would probably be good, especially if your really up on your Dark Tower novels at the moment. Lets folsk how might be interested know what the scenario is like, also those who havent read in awhile.

the best way to describe the Dark Tower is...

its a western/fantasy/horror/sci-fi/metaphorical quest

the first and initially central character..possibly myself or by another who knows the story..is the gunslinger

the gunslinger is like the name implies, a gunslinger..good ole six shooters...but with an uncanny aim and almost zen training with a gun..a casual killer..but raised in the court.. an envoy and an assasin.. a knight of old with cold steel

the world has moved on

the world is somehwat similar to our own..or it is our own..will be our own or has been our own..and in some places crosses over into other worlds in strange "thin " ways

its a strange western world with vestiges of an advanced civilization..things are falling apart..there are electronics..but most dont work..and the few that do are valuable.. from working electric lights to other strange oddities

for the most part..simply drag up what you know about the wild west and add a post apocalyptic feel to it..with otherworldy elements

the world has moved on

the dark tower is an elusive myth..something that sits at the center of the world..and is either the salvation of the world or its damnation

I guess a good place to start off would be...book one; the gunslinger

for the time being , I'll be the gunslinger

just for note.. if you're a bad guy..odds are you will die..hell if you're a good guy odds are you wont be making out alive either

Sounds good to me, BBS. You know im game, lol. Let me think about a character during the day and ill shoot you an idea later

Almost everyone fated to go on the journey is a gunslinger, whether their trained or not is a different story. And, I'm imagine most bad guys would have some sort of powers that would make them Gunslinger material as well.

I haven't read the last two books. Bought them on Amazon in January, and they never came, stupid Supplier!!!!!

I don't quite know which character to play though. In this world, there are literally hundreds of possibilities. You can rationally be just about anyone... lol, and I think I've seen that in the Series.

I'll come up with something though, good or bad... maybe both.

Alrighty..as you may have seen I already put up a few posts

I want to start out the thread just like the books..the gunslinger rolls into town, finds the man in black has left some "traps" for him, and the gunslinger eventually..kills everyone.

What fun is that for me? you may ask...not everyone is going to die at once, bad guys and saloon girls are neat..plus I left the option that some people get the duck outta Fodge before the carnage starts

some other notes about this bizarre world

dont go around arming yourself to the tits..guns are rare.. and the six shooters on the gunslingers hips are mythical... there might be the odd rifle here and there, maybe some clanky nickel plated six shooters of failed gunslingers..but for the most part, knives, bows, swords ( rarely)

some more notes while I have them in my head

alrighty..I think we should sorta follow the series a bit..so the first part The Gunslinger is split into two parts

first part..set in the town of Elgin..till the massacare at the end

second part..the desert and where the gunslinger meets the "Jake" of this world..but we'll keep him really legal age untill the gunslinger scarifices him at the end

as for the other stuff

just becuase you're in the town doesnt mean you die,,,yes, like in the book the gunslinger kills EVERYONE left in the town at the end..but your character can get the flock outta dodge before then

the gunslinger is one mean hombre..you cant take her in a fight and shes cold as steel..but that doesnt mean you cant outsmart her..she thinks rather linearlly

Oh I love it. I've read the first 4 books, and they're absolutely brilliant.

It's about damn time somebody did this! I'm suprised that there hasn't been a larger response.

I'll take a look at the thread and post back here, I'd love to help get this thing off the ground.

Let me ask ya a question, beg ya hear me.

As I sit here, with my copy of "wizard and glass" not 6 feet from me, I rejoice at the thought of a SRP based in the outlands. My question to you is this however. Will this RP take on a sexual nature or simply be a roleplaying game based in its world? If it is just a game paying homage to the dark tower series, it should be in the role playing forum, not the sexual rp forum.

Here's to hoping it's the former. I find everything he writes, especially in the Dark Tower series, has a sexual edge to it. Whew, I know I wouldn't mind Roland taking me to an abandoned shack in the bad grass.

Oh, it will defintely have a nookie edge to it..after all Roland gets some in a couple of the books.. theres the barmaid, the oracle, the wise woamn, the crazed preacher lady, Susan Delgado..Eddie and Susannah...lots of people fool around in the books

this will just be a lot stronger RP based..with the gunslinger beigna woman for a change

I must be blind. I keep looking for this thread, and I can never find it. Can someone put up a link?

argh..more notes

Forgot a couple things which we could incorporate into the story

the man in black has passed through Elgin..in the book he performs a "miracle" by raising a dead man..the man was a devil weed eater

he also tries impreganting the preacherwoman named Sylvia Oittson..who goes on a crusade against the gunslinger..leading to the massacre when he/she leaves

devil weed is a tough brown grass which is one of the few things that healthily grow..its a poisonous addictive hallucinogen which people start smoking initially..untill they are so far gone they chew it..its greasy, gummy, and stains mouths green..eventually killing the poor addict

the man in black moves on a few days before the gunslinger arrives

thats if we use any of the above

Tons of fun ideas to play with.
Such a shame more people aren't playing.
