Hey everyone,

This thread is specifically targeted at AD&D's who want to play from 1st Edition.
Runestones of Erethryst is a campaign setting taking bits from Nehwon, Krynn and some Forgotten Realms.

The campaign setting is aimed at lvl 4 - 6 starting and ideally requires 6 - 8 people who have a commitment to play at least 1 round per day to keep things moving.

It will have a mixture of Wilderness, City and Dungeon Settings, full AD&D edition rules apply, players may use..

Any Character races allowed.
Player opting to play Bards will start as a lvl 1 Druid, lvl 5 Fighter, lvl 5 Thief

Multiclass Characters are permitted within the racial restrictions and ability scores.

Players can import their own characters without equipment.

Each player will have 1000gp to purchase equipment prior to starting the game

Players can hire retainers where available, retainer actions will be modified by players charisma and task as usual.

I will supply info, maps as neccesary which will be posted as bmps

As far as combat is concerned, I will rely on fair play, it is adviseable to have dice to determine if you hit or not although it is not necessary to post score during combat.

Players may fight 2 handed with usual modifiers - players may also request rolls for ambidexterity, which I will notify

Players can also request rolls for Psionics if they wish, I will put Psionic Creatures in the campaign if one or more character has a Psionic ability, if not then I shall leave them out.

If any one is interested. Post here and PM me your character, class, abilities and race and Alignment

I play neutral party alignment, I don't expect characters to reveal their alignment to other party members but please let me know, XP is given for playing in character and alignment.

Kindest Regards

I don't even know first edition rules any more.

I tried doing a D&D game by the books on another board once and it flopped. : ( I find that running them in chats, on IRC or something... a dice game can work really well. Thats just one experience though. Good luck!

Thanx spectral, your IRC tip I will bear in mind,

Its not by the books but uses the books to define the characters and dynamics and magical spells and abilities, melee obviously is much more relaxed.

Where a character has an ability to spot thing or do things I will play that fairly and pm the character in advance of anything extra that person 'knows' or can see, it is then up to the character to impart that to the party I feel that is more in line with the spirit of roll playing. So for example a thief or Dwarf that spots a trap or secret door will be notified of his awareness that there maybe one with out having to search for it.

EFNET and DALNET work good for me - I would prefer to run it in here but the IRC I can see does have advantages.

I am I also use MSMessenger but am happy to use ICQ but not Yahoo I can see the benefits of these also used in conjunction with the LIT board.

Hmm, okay, I'd love to play in this although I don't remember the 1st edition AD&D rules (only 2nd edition and some 3rd) but...just makes it more interesting Ms. DM :) I'm approximating 1000 gp of equipment here, btw...if you disapprove of my char, just tell me and I can change it --> kind of torn between being a psionic (don't really like the ad&d rules for them and never really liked playing them in ad&d because of the visualizations they use in there...but online I love to play them free-form) and a monk (had this love of monks for a long time...not sure why :))

Name: Jervase Eversilver
Race: (I'd prefer elf [sylvan elf?], but if you want human for the psionic/monk classes, that is fine too)
Age: 23
Level: 4 (low level is fun :))
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 156lbs (nearly 100% muscle though)
Quick Approx. Stats--> Dex: 18 (or 19 if elf), Str: 14, Con 11, Chr 12, Int 16, Wis 14, Awr: 11, Commeliness (appearance vs Chr which is more of via words and gestures): 13
Description: A short, by the standards of most races, elf/human with shoulder-length grey hair is approaching you. Smooth muscles ripple as his graceful feet hit the ground and wise, blue eyes search your's out. His well-pronounced cheek-bones raise in a smile and a single word flows from his thin lips in a smooth, if deep, voice, 'Hello'. An embroidered white robe sits on his frame, the slitted quartets moving aside below his waist at each step to reveal equally white, though much looser and common, pants. The lack of sleeves on the garmet allows the simple golden bracelet on his right wrist to be seen as well as a long scar running from the middle of his left bicep to his elbow. A well-cut jade stone hangs on a simple silver necklace about his neck and he wears no shoes.

Welcome Kelson

Hi Kelson.

Welcome to the OOC thread, I 'll give you all the help you and anyone else need so don't worry too much about the rules. Again I will only be using them as a framework to keep some reality on the game. No surprises either straight and unabridged. I appreciate there will be novices, this is a good thread to learn in, if you have any questions I will answer them to the best of my ability.

Yes Lvl 4 - 6 is an interesting lvl of play, not quite feeble but not quite competant it makes for knife edge action :) and careful thinking and team play. Also it mean the history I give you will make more sense and you can weave your character into the fabric of the campaign in terms of alligences, dieties and locales.

Sylvan (Wood) Elf or Human which ever you prefer.

The Monk is an excellant character to play at higher levels and one of my favorites too but I don't know how that would pan out at 4 -6. Remembering a Monk can't wear armor or use magic( Spells) you might find it limiting in role play although the ESP is some bonus not that huge at this level.

Bare in mind also Elven limitations to class and lvl.

If you play your elf (and this is only a suggestion) MU/Thief is a good combination allowing you some armor (leather etc) better combat weapons and a good spell casting back up. plus all those groovy thief abilities. Also you will be in dark places so the benefits to Elf class in terms of thieving ability also applies better hear noise, move silently and pick pocket chances etc. over all a pretty good character to have around.

Of course you can pick the class and race you want

I am happy with your scores (I don't know awareness, thats a 2nd or 3rd Ed Ability I think) I am happy to include Arcana Rules so Comeliness is ok.

Your scores total 98 by the way excluding Awareness which I don't use.

Different DM's have different rules on scores this is how I usually play it without dice rolls.

You have 100 pts to allocate over your 7 Abilities that gives an average 14 on all scores so you can allocate 2 more points.

You can adjust your score to meet your class prime requisites. I think this give good balanced characters and few 'super heroes' :)

As an Elf you would be about 180 years old (23 Human Years equivalent) which also gives you +1 Strength and +1 Wisdom above your un adjusted scores so bare that in mind. The bonus applies equally to all races of your equivalent age.

Also as an Elf you would get +1 Dexterity (Your 19) and -1 Constitution

1000 gp should cater for all you needs I am not going to quibble over bits and pieces.

Psionic if you must, but you must meet the criteria for them in terms of abilities. If you want to know them I will post more here.

If you or anyone else wants more info post here.

Once again welcome.
