Welcome,if your reading this it is pretty obvious you are checking out this thread or are at least wondering what it is about.Romance of the Three Kingdoms is a thread set back in Feuderal china.During the Era,there was three kingdoms that owned the provinces of China: Wu,Wei and Shu.Wu is a kingdom that is owned by the illusturious Sun(Pronunced Sune) family that owns the western provinces.Wei,a kingdom that seeks to own all of China, fueled from the northern provinces. Finally, the Shu army with owns the southern sections,a army owned by the brother of the former king of the Empire.

The Romance of the Three Kingdoms is a story of Love,Lust,Anger,Ambition,War,Death and Hate.Characters can be anyone, from a warrior in one of the kingdoms to just a supporter. We are looking for rules of the kingdoms,so that is open.

Having been an avid player of the Dynasty Warriors and Kessen series', I'm very interested in joining this, if that is indeed your sources for info for this thread. Are any and all characters available to play? Even the one's that by the time things became officially the three Kingdoms, such as Lu Bu?

I am indeed getting my info for those sources. But as for characters I wasnt really looking for people to play those characters,I was just looking to have people create characters in that Era.Lu Bu,well...the greatest warrior that ever lived is kinda extreme,in all seriousness,I would like to see Lu Bu fight Achilles. But its good that at least someone is intrested.

I play Dungeons and Dragons the Living Greyhawk series that Wizards of the Coast puts out so i have some rollplaying experence but am unaware of the back ground involved in this scene however i would be interested in playing the part of a High Ranking Offical or Ruler who is Hungry for power.

this looks like a very interesting thread, if you dont mind i would love to take a role in here

whatever

I'm not even sure if the art even existed during the time period, but I'd like to play a shaolin monk named Jong Tsu. He'd be an advisor to one of the emperors, (preferably not an evil one, but I can make do)

Love sex and roleplay but will we be leading armies or at least giving orders? I wouldn't mind being a western visitor/adventuror or maybe even a samurai mercenary. I love the epic setting and would love to play we some lovely ladies in it. So tell me more of this great story of war, love and all the rest of the fun stuff.

The shaolin monks existed, but only at the two Shaolin Temples. The north, in Luo Yang, where Cao Cao's capital was. I'm not sure where the southern temple is, but it's smaller in geographical size, the southern Shaolin style monks use their hands more and have weaker kicks, are also physically shorter, the style was developed to combat Northern Shaolin monks, who were taller. The Southern Shaolin style also is used to less space, because the southern temple doesn't have large areas to practice in, therefore their styles are all at a great advantage in smaller spaces, but at a great disadvantage in larger spaces.

The northern Shaolin monks on the other hand, have powerful kicks, and require much more space to fight in, because their style takes advantage of the large expanses in the Luo Yang. So they happen to be at a disadvantage against opponents in small spaces (like a 30 person classroom would be small for them), but do better in open spaces, like a prarie. Also side note, the Northern Shaolin Monks, are allowed to drink alcohol and eat meat, although mostly they don't take advantage of that.

The two distinct styles, (northern and southern) use the same weapons, and have slightly different clothing, but weild weapons differently.

There are many styles that developed to counter the styles that the Shaolin monks use, one of them is Wing Chun developed by a Shaolin Nun of from the southern temple. She perfected a style that is used by women, and taught it to others, and since, it has been used as an Anti-Shaolin style. (Bruce Lee used Wing Chun, practitioners develop a kind of V shaped upperbody). The style relies on really close quarters, practitioners develop their fists to a point that their ring finger's knuckle is larger than their knuckle on the middle finger. They practice to the point where they can push a person's punch aside by using brute force, without using their elbows. Their attacks, are based on their attacker. If you punch them, they push it aside and walk forward. If you try to kick them, they kick your foot back down. None of their kicks extend, because they are designed to stop the opponents kicks from ever coming up. Their punches, are designed to happen at less than 1 foot away. Using their oversized knuckles to hit the opponent multiple times, by pivoting the hand just a tad bit. Another tactic, is that they practice to a point, where they can kill with a punch that has a distance of about 1 inch. If the opponent backs off so that the punch just barely touches her/him, then the practitioner, over extends his arm, by rotating the shoulder, delivering a mortal wound.

The White Crane style also was develop to kill Shaolin Monks, it also comes from the south. Instead of using attacks that are horizontally directed, all the attacks are directed from bottom to top. So instead of having a person knocked back, all the force of the blows go straight into the person. In general practitioners, develop such large back muscles that they hunch over, and the outside of their arms become calcified. The other indication, is their eyes, true masters of the style, tend to have their irises set on the upper half of their eyes due to crouching low and looking up to strike. So if you look them in the eyes, you only see the bottom half of it. Also practitioners, practice their art, by killing Shaolin Monks, this style was designed to kill, and a true master of the style inflicts fatal wounds with each strike.

Lu Bu, I don't believe is noted as the greatest warrior that ever lived. Seeing as how Guan Yu is honored as the god of war, and considered a role model, as well as only one of two saints in all of Chinese history. Guan Yu's legendary weapon was supposedly around 2 meters in length, I forget the legendary weight. The only other saint being Confucius, (Kong Zi).

Oh and btw not all of the Dynasty Warrior Characters are real.

Palladium put out a game and still does I believe called Ninjas and Super Spies. It outlines martial arts styles including the ones used by your Monk. Good cliffnotes version of many martial arts.

Joining

I would like to join, i've always been a fan of this type of RP. one that isn't only limited to(but at times enhanced) by sex. I'm new to this forum altogether, still i'm very experienced when it comes to roleplaying. I'd be honored to join this thread(and learn the ropes along the way) If the thread is still open at least...

Far as characters go, the type of character i'd most likely play is a commoner, ((a couple of different ideas and i might take a while to think of a name))

1) Seeing his entire village laid to waste within a matter of moments, the son of a common farmer burries the remains of his family and neighbors. Lifting a rusted sickle from the corpse of the invading soldiers- swearing to the heavens he'd bury whoever caused this carnage in a pile of their own filth. With the sickle tightly clenched within his palm he takes the uniform of a fallen spearmen- disguising himself as one to fit among their ranks

Character appearance and more psycho babble will follow if I'm accepted. If not, then best of luck of the rp! i might check in to see how the game is doing.
