OOC: Roman Senator

Apparently, the Roman Senator thread needs players again. A lack of activity is making it so that I might have to have it closed soon.

At the very least, a wife and an Egyptian male slave are needed, even assuming that the players playing the slave girls are even planning to return to it.

Well, originally someone claimed to be interested in the bridal role, but if they don't show interest, then feel free to play the young noblewoman. If that's not open, there are always courtesans to play. A Roman senator wouldn't exactly be monogamous, unless he was a Servilius Caepio (a family known for their prudery and greed).

No nomens picked out, and while someone briefly expressed interest, she hasn't gotten back to me on it since, so I have to assume that she has lost interest. Therefore, I'd say that the spot is open. I was almost going to give up on the thread, but then one of the female players (well, so far, all of the players but myself are female) posted again, so I'd have to hold out some hope. Perhaps if the senator DID
marry, things would pick up more with his slaves. They wouldn't want him to stop pleasuring them, just because he wed.

That's okay. So, is she a senator's daughter? A woman of an impoverished noble family? That's sort of what I was looking for. The rest can be up to you.

So, we'd probably be looking at a young maid, maybe the only daughter or at least the only female of a noble lineage whose fortunes have fallen into decline ... right?

Yes. A virgin daughter, divorcee, or a respected widow of a noble family who had fallen on hard times during the civil war and wanted to recover by forming a marital connection to a New Man. The only other stipulation is that she cannot have been divorced for adultery, since such women were banned from remarrying by Sulla (one of his less enlightened laws). As were wives of proscribed men.

Elzeothis has PM'd me that she is dropping this thread over creative differences with me. I understand and respect that she has such differences about style and manner of the roleplay. Instead of making the character she played open to others, I will simply have him look for a different wife, as all of the posts that she and I made about her character's wedding to mine have been deleted.

Frame: Petite, 92 lbs-thin small hands and feet
Hair: Black-fuzzy curly, very thick, usually braided in many plaits and piled up on top my head. unplaited falls below my buttocks (never been cut)
Skin: White, nearly transparent

I would be willing to play the prospective wife. I am thinking age...20, good family, but all the men have died in war fighting on the "correct" side of course. Had a brother, uncle and father who all fought, won many honors in the war, but have all died. Brother just died of wounds-gangrine-tetnus. I nursed him until he died and was there on his death bed. Much of our money was spent on his medicine and keeping the household. My mother did not take care of the books of the house and spent money like water. When my father died, she found a new man, but left me in the care of my uncle and brother.. now both dead. I am looking for an arrangement... perhaps you knew my uncle... a military strategist, and though not a polotician himself, knew many and was well liked.
My phisical small boned apperance and shyness has made me less than a catch in the past. I am not tall, not graceful, my hair is a dark black curly mass that I wear up on the top of my head, I am not large breasted and my hips aren't very wide, I am thin and pale. My greatest attribute are my eyes. They are large and liquid black, with long curly lashes. My nose is thin and long. A full mouth frames small white teeth. My smile which is rarely seen these days, causes my face to break out in dimples, I usually cover my mouth when I smile or eat. I try my level best not to bring attention to myself. I can read, I sing, write poetry and play the flute. I do all these things very well. I am very good with numbers but am afraid to spend money, especially on myself. Having never been considered pretty, I do not think of adorning myself and wear the most modest of roman fashions of the time. I do not know of the acts of the bedroom, being a very sheltered virgin. Other than my father, uncle, brother and house slaves, I have not conversed with men very often. My mother who was very beautiful, sent me to the temple of Diana as a child so I spent very little time at home and my father considered me outside the home and unmarriagable- therefore useless. But I did not become a preistess, I couldn't preform the duties without starting a fire, spilling the insence, or tripping over my robes. The high priestess took pity on me somwhat, understanding the lack of love in my family and allowed me to stay at the temple as a novice, so that I would have a place to be happy. But I would never move up in the ranks, and I knew it.
When my father was killed, my mother began spending the family money, eventually she had to sell our slaves and servants. Two months later my uncle (her brother and last male relative from her side) died in battle. In that same battle my brother was mortally wounded. Desparate to find a new man, she called me home. I became her favored slave-ever obedient, I complied and dressed in a slaves rameint. She began man-hunting and suceeded. He had three beautiful daughters and two fine small sons. He had no use for more daughters. Mother suggested I return to temple or nurse my brother back to health. She took a huge dowry which reduced me to poverty.Left me with our eldest slave and my dying brother. I did my best. He lived for 6 weeks after she left. My dear slave- who was my nursemaid- going senile and sleeping most of the time, is all I have left of family. I have thought of going back to the temple, but what of my dear nurse? I am no good as a preistess. I must now find a man. Hopefully the little bit of money and land-mother did leave the house and most of the furniture...will help me marry. And my families good name. I pray to Diana to plead with Vespa every moment to help me somehow...
