Here's the skinny, an open thread that takes place during the weekend of a 10 year high school reunion. Heh, call it my regrets for not attending mine that drives me to want to start this.

Looking for it to be a thread where not everyone is the immensly famous or the obsenely rich type upon returning, just regular people returning to old romances, or beginning new affairs.

To give an idea, I will portray a somewhat autobiographical role. The kid who, 10 years earlier, was the geek. Not exactly tall, a lil plump. The straight-A band kid. Now, he is a lil thinner, as well as a little more confident. Doesn't have the dream job, dropped out of college after a year and is currently making a semi comfortable living in the tourism industry. Basically, he is a normal person.

So, I lay this before you to see if anyone would be interested in this...if not, then oh well, guess I need to be a lil more creative with my thinking :)

Laurie

OOC: Can I play? I love this idea!

Sitting in her officce, reading the invitation that had come in the mail today announcing her ten-year high school reunion, Laurie was surprised by the intensity of her reaction. She hadn't had a great time in high school, and looking back on it, there was no way she could ever call those years a happy time in her life. Never one to have been overheard humming Be True to your Schoooool...Laurie was much more atune to Janis Ian's At Seventeen.

Laurie had been voted the most pessimistic in her senior class poll for the yearbook. The memory of the moment she was asked to leave class to go have her photo taken for the Senior Class Poll came crashing back to flood her mind, as she sat at her desk, transported back in time. They hadn't told her which category she had been selected for. Several months later, when she had opened her annual for the first time, she had been so humiliated that she had run crying to the bathroom.

Though high school wasn't the happiest time Laurie could recall, there had been some good friends. Laurie wondered about a few of them as she put the announcement in the 'pending' file on her desk. I wonder if I should go?

Laurie thought about the reunion even after she left her office and was in the kitchen cooking dinner. She thought about Shane, the the boy that had asked her to the only school dance she had attended. I'm sure he's married. And probably has children. What am I thinking? I'm married! I hope he is happy. There was so much haunting him. I'd love to see him again, and know that he is well.

I am a Principal, and just got notice of a Ten Year Class reunion being held. Ten Years ago, Do I remember The class that graduated Ten Years ago? Oh wow, I do remeber that class!! Only because there was this girl. She was 18, but looked 25, she had the attention of all the guys, and envy of all the girls, Homecoming queen, and cheerleader, also played Volleyball, and on the swim team, but got bad grades. I remember her coming to me for help. We had quite an affair for a few months, then I made sure she passed, and she graduated. I remember her coming to my office on graduation day and her and her friend "thanking" me for the help.

OOC:

Name: Megan O"Brian

Hair: red

Eyes: green

Height: 5'6"

Weight: 130

In high school she had a problem with weight. With the ten years gone by, no one will know it is her. She wasn't to sure of going to her reunion or not. Then when she looked in the mirror, she knew she had too.

been a long time

OOC: Good idea, old flames, nw flames, lots of possibilities

I'll go semiautobiographical as well, lol, write what you know.

Chuck Baker, brown hair, hazel eyes, has grown a beard since hihg school and much more confident. In those years he was shy, but since has gotten over his fear of women thanks to a few good teachers out of school, and is curious to see how everybody else turned out, who changed and grew, who didn't.

I'd like to participate, if I could... gaigirl, do you mind if I take over as Shane. If not, I'll use the same character, just a different name... I'm going semi-autobiographical as well...

Description- 6'1" african-american guy. In high school, he was deeply religious. So much so that he never partied, and was never allowed to go out with his fellow students, his parents forcing him to take voice and ballet. He often acted a little snobby towards others because of his religious convictions. The few times he did go out, he was always a little on edge. He never drank, and never danced "inappropriately."

Now, he's COMPLETELY changed. College has made him a party animal, not to mention a complete sex fiend. He majored in dance at a conservatory, and now works in vegas as a legitamate ensemble performer (but not before a few bouts as an exotic male dancer). Dreams of one day being a rock star, complete with groupies, dance in his head!
