OOC: Pirates anyone?

I want to start a Pirate thread, this is my first time starting my own so bear with me and also I am open to any suggestions on the story line. Actually I would appreciate any suggestions? If you want to join just post your bio and I will get the story posted soon.

Rocky.... he's Rocky. He is usually a ship mate, but sometimes people demote him. Especially when he trips, because he trips a lot. Most of the time he's a cabin boy, with one unique gift... to cook. Rocky can cook like no one's business.
Rocky is young, and very simple. He likes simple thing because they are easy to understand. Rocky can't understand hard things. If given something hard, he usually just makes something up for it to be easy for his own mind.
As for suggestions, Rocky says let's go to that one island of ice cream and chocolate where those pretty women dress up and sing all those lovely songs.

Lucas.... he has lived on ships for most of his life and enjoys being part of the crew. He knows the sea better than anyone and can navigate it without any trouble at all. He loves being who and what he is and wouldn't trade it for anything.

Info: Serena is one of the few female captains, she is skilled with a rapier and can shoot a gun better then most men. Her crew is feircly loyal to her and she is loyal to them as well. She earned the name Siren when she lured and killed a british captain for killing one her crew mates. She is one of the most wanted pirates and is very hard to find. Most only know her as "The Siren"

Simon is mute. It is unknown what caused the damage to his toungue but he can not speak although on rare occasions he has been know to whistle a warning.

Simon is friendly , and fiercly loyal.

Clerval, the thief

Black hair and blue eyes, and looks as if he might just vanish into the shadows at any time.

The story of Clerval:

A petty thief once, he accidentally impressed the captain of a pirate ship once by robbing his daughter, who he mistook for a noblewoman. Clerval never wants anything more than to save his own hide and to perhaps woo a few ladies along the way. The pirating does him well, though he's not too fancy with swords and the like, he gets the job done, usually via convoluted schemes, slight of hand, and a penchant for picking locks and being patient. The pirating isn't what thrills him, it's the trips to town afterwards, in cities full of money waiting to be taken by the patient thief - although he has no qualms or misgivings about robbing shipgoers of thier coins while they're being harassed by the other pirates.
After the pirate that he impressed suffered an unfortunate death, he wound up with the current crew. Aloof as always, he's now looking forward to some adventure as the lovely ladies of the sea are stripped of the gold and other things.

How sounds it? I personally like the idea.

The Duel - getting a feel for my char.

"Aye! He was stealin, Cap'n!" The large burly man shouted. "He switched a fancy pearl necklace in 'is 'ands w' a poor copper one! He's a robbin' ye, Cap'n!" The man bellowed. The Captain sat, peering over Clerval and the ugly one, known as Grunt for his bulky build and habit of snorting and grunting in combat.
"What do ye say ta that?" The captain asked Clerval. He squinted a bit and sighed. "I think not! He's merely imagined it, aye, ye know how Grunt can be."
The Captain sighed. "I'll not have this kinda stealin er lying among my crew. Kill them both!"
"WAIT!" Clerval and Grunt shouted at once.
"How about a duel?" Grunt asked. "Winner lives, loser dies by his hand?"
"Wonderful idea, Grunt." The captain said, grinning.
"HAW!" Grunt bellowed. "Been nice knowin' ye, thief!"
"What are the rules?" Clerval asked, quickly.
"Hrm. One weapon only. It must be a sword. Meet at the deck in one hour."
"Can it be a knife?" Clerval asked.
"Yes, but ye cannot throw it." The captain replied, knowing Clerval's preference for throwing weapons rather than clashing swords.
"I shant." Clerval said.
"Good." The captain replied.

An hour later, the crew was as rowdy as ever, ale and foul language spilled out their mouths as they guffawed and laughed. Nothing got them fired up more than a duel.
"Are ye ready?!" Grunt bellowed at Clerval, who stood at one end of the deck, a few feet from Grunt.
"Aye." Clerval said.
"Where's yer sword?!" Grunt bellowed, brandishing a rather large, sharp cutlass.
"It's hidden." Clerval said, making an elaborate motion with his hands. "You'll know soon enough."
"Ha!" The huge man shouted. "I've kilt me a hundred men stronger than ye!"
"Probably." Clerval said. "Captain, would ye be so kind as to remind us of the rules?"
"Certainly." The captain said. "Each of ye get only one weapon. Sword or knife, and ye cannot throw it. Last one standing wins, the loser dies or is thrown overboard if 'es not dead when he hits the floor"
"I'm not throwing anything." Clerval said.
"Good." Grunt said. "I dun trust ye, fool thief."

"FIGHT!" The captain yelled, firing a flintlock into the air. Grunt rushed Clerval, and just as quickly a knife flew through the air and caught him in the throat, dropping him to the ground in a manner of seconds. The thrower of the knife, a quick sailor in the audience, smiled at the bewildered captain and said "He said he wasn't going to throw anything. N'er said anything 'bout me."

The captain agreed it was a brilliant interpretation of the rules and let both of them live, as well as split the dead brute's share.

A sturdy face framed with a short beard and a nose of a true Frenchman and over one of my shadowed brown eyes, I often wear a seeing-piece.

I tend to wear my dress uniform every day with my épée hanging from my left hip and a poignard at my right hip as I use the sword with my right hand and the poignard as a back-up weapon for close combat. Although I am not one who trusts firearms, I do carry my pistolet is under my dress jacket in a holster at the small of my back. I carry two cigars in one of three ammunition bags on the belt that secures my holster. Most adversaries overlook the flintlock.

Trained by my father at a young age I am accustomed to close-quarters combat and have bested all who have stood against me with similar weapons.

I like the idea of Pirates, and would like to participate. I have an idea for acharacter for your "Ship". How about a navigator? A Portuguese Navigator, providing that the time you are setting your pirate story is the early to mid 19th century. I'm assuming that is when your setting it, but if You are setting it in the future and are Space Pirates, well.......that's different.

Another Deverees?!?!?

Hey all you crazy peoples, this weirdo is back in town. I have decided that the death of my first character was necessary but I can't stand to let the Deverees name rest on Lilly alone. Therefore, Raphael Deverees' older cousin Pierre will attemt to rescue him (in France do we know he's dead?) and his crew.

For the record, this makes me Lilly's second cousin. I wonder if Lilly is a Deverees.

Just to state some facts

Some Facts:

1) So few people post here and I don't know if anyone reads this thread.

2) There are a large quantity of characters in this thread not in the IC thread.

3) The IC thread is wonderful. I'm glad that I'm back in town and am able to be a part of it again.
