Granted, maybe I should have posted this before I actually posted the thread, but hey, I never claimed to be intelligent.
I would like to have a thread that really explores the fascination of flight and the freedom that it can bring. Ever since I was young, I've been fascinated with aircraft- their speed, their agility and gracefulness, but most of all their promise of freedom from everything down there on Earth, even gravity. If there's anyone out there who feels as I do, or who just would like to have their characters grab some jet-powered thrills, feel free to post on the On the Flight Line thread.
One note- the thread title says "Open for One Other Player". This was a mistake on my part, as I've realized I don't want to limit the thread too much. Anybody can feel free to jump right in if they have the inclination.
Here's my character:
Rick Callahan, Age 28
Height: 6'1
Hair: Dark Brown
Eyes: Blue
Weight: 150 lbs
Rick is the owner of the High Ridge airport in the high desert of Southern California, which he bought for back taxes with most of his share of the family inheritance. He operates it as a fuel stop for private airplanes coming down from Washington, Oregon, Nevada, and British Columbia on their way to Los Angeles and Mexico, as well as offering sightseeing and charter flights over the high desert of California. It doesn't bring in much money, but it lets him keep as much flight time in his logbook as possible.
The rest of his inheritance went into his other pride and joy, an L-39 jet he calls the Eastern Lady. Whenever he has enough money, he invariably fuels the plane up and spends a happy afternoon doing what he calls "tearing up the sky".
Although he rarely admits it, even to himself, he does sometimes feel lonely out in the desert, and occasionally wonders about the life he's chosen. Flying is a part of him, but sometimes he wonders whether there's anybody else who feels the same way. These thoughts have become more and more frequent as he approaches thirty.
