OOC: Just an idea

Anyone interested in a thread based on Greek Mythology? The Greek Deities were not bound to moral codes, and could be lotsa fun. Just an idea.

Hmm... might be interested, but not sure which goddess to play...

Gotta rule out Aphrodite, she was a slut with nothing interesting about her...
And Hera was about as boring as Aphie...

Mebbe Athene, tho I'm not sure a virgin goddess belongs in SRP... hmmm... it's hard as the bishop said to the prostitute...

Hmmm...i think i found it

Ariadne is a Cretan princess, daughter of Minos and Pasiphaë. She loved Theseus, and gave him the skein of thread that enabled him to make his way out of the labyrinth after killing the Minotaur. When Theseus left Crete, Ariadne went with him, but before they reached Greece, he abandoned her at Naxos. There the god Dionysus consoled and later married her. She bore him several children, including Oenopion, whom Dionysus first taught the art of winemaking. It was said that Zeus granted Ariadne immortality and that Dionysus set her bridal crown, the Corona Borealis, among the stars.

OK, if this kicks off... Athene it is. Oh, and Ray, since you asked about the spelling of Ares - it doesn't have the I... Aries with the I is the zodiac constellation.

I'll play Aphrodite if only to prove to Bf that she wasn't really all that bad and besides there were extenuating circumstances. The greeks just wanted their women to stay home and mind the babies or just hang around to look innocent and vulnerable dumb and dumber you know. well whats a girl to do when she has the ability to cause any man to fall madly in love with her.... go home and make pita bread. lol count me in as Aphrodite please

Ok, everybody...

I think we have a good cast, but am now feeling like i don't know how to start it...any suggestions?

Only one thing occurs to me in relation to that - almost ALL of the cast is male - I believe we have Ares, a god, and Jason, a mortal-ish hero.... so would this be some kind of competition between the goddesses for the attention of Jason with Ares pissed at them not paying him so much attention. Remember what caused the Trojan war after all... good ol' Paris (if only he had been Gay Paris). May not work, but was the only thought immediately to mind.

Well, we have OEnone, Athena, and Ariadne...who is not a goddess...but i think we definitely need some more deities...zeus and hera, hestia, maybe...hmmmm

you need Zeus? Ever since I read the Edith Hamilton book Mythology, Timeless Tales Of Gods And Heroes as a teenager, I've always wanted to play Zeus. Mostly because when things got boring up in the heavens, he'd turned himself into a human and slip on down to Earth and always found a suitable companion. Count me in!

that Zeus should be played with a modern, politically correct sensibility? If so, I don't have a problem, since I've successfully completed sensitivity training and have some serious issues with unsolicitied force.

Heh, I aint suggesting anything, just responding to your comment about him always being able to find someone... This aint my thread, it's soliloquys. Anyhow, I know about modern, sensitive men - they say please when they tell their woman to go get the beer while they watch the game, right?

Good example of just what is wrong with the world, Bad...lol...shouldn't the women be saying please when asking her husband to get her a beer while she watches the hockey game? LOL...ok, you're right...stop the non thread stuff...still need suggestions on how to begin...perhaps if we have a good start, some women might join in

Just a suggestion ...

How about setting the scene on Olympus? Perhaps there is a festival of some sort down on earth that the gods love to mimic, something that can lead to some Olympian fun and games.

THE GREEK GOD...thread starter airborne...jump on in, we are leading to a contest of sorts between ares and Jason, I believe...don't know how to get there, but, that's how it goes with RP, huh?
