"Bring me a map and show me the lands that I have yet to conquest."-Alexander

OOC:

Like may of you I enjoy strategy games as well a roleplay. Often times if you become powerful enough in roleplay you become a leader and even empire builder. Other players opt to make the character an Npc and start at the bottom again. I have read a number of posts and there are some good players out there. After my last few attempts though I will be very selective of who makes the final cut. So please don't be to daunted to post because you see a poor player has as well.

Here is the general idea. The war gods have been debating for centuries of who are the great fighting races. To make a final decision they have used their powers to set aside a world (you can do that when your a god) of large islands and have assigned a number of groups to build empires and achieve great rewards once total victory has been achived. This first plant with have an ancient level technology cap (think no higher then the Roman Empire) to prevent total destruction of the world.

Total victory conditions can be but not limited to:

Hold 80% of Global territory

All other remaining groups paying tribute to one superpower

The Player that has the most territory and tribute at the time of an off world invasion (Aliens will have same tech level.)

The groups that will be available to are as follows:

Romans
Vikings
Asians (a mix of chinese and Japanese)
Eygptians
Greeks (Sparta/Athenas city state types)
Persians
Huns
Aztecs

Each player will begin play with a small village consisting of,
100 Soldiers
(heavy Infantry Led by 1 captain with horse)
100 Militia
(lite infantry led by 1 captain with horse)
500 Peasants
(of your culture and can be used for most purposes. Can start any civilian job right way. Seamenship and Military jobs take special training.)
Basic buildings of a village (homes, food storage areas, village walls, boat docks, town hall, temple and work shops)

2 extras to be named at start of thread.

Players create their immidiate family and will be isolated on their own island with five other villages of their same race and one foreign group. The land will be warm all most tropical with soil and areas that can support crops like, wheat, corn, rice, etc...

If you capture technology (Huns capture a viking village with longboats) in time you will learn how to build it. Among the player characters I would say marriage and diplomacy of other types is a good idea. I will decide if battles or assassinations are successful.

Please ask question and add ideas. This is a new thread idea but I want to see it work. Do you want to rule the world??? Here is your chance?

Well I know your reading the post now how about playing in it? Take it to a new level. Can't all be hack and slash. Lead armies instead of fighting in them. Expand your minds and how you play. Real gamers can play any game and this is no different. Step up to the plate.

I'm not sure

I am not sure exactly what you are asking of us as players in this thread of yours. How will we know when we can grow as a country, or will it be our decision to make it beliveable? I understand how the battle system might work but I am still lost. It sound very different what you are trying to do and I just want to know how we will grow and are we the player the leader of the nation we choose? Also is it strictly real world based tech or is it a mix or real world and fantasy tech, much like Warcraft? If you want to see what kind of writter I am I am sure you can find me. I don't know how to post links on my posts yet.

Good....and fair questions.

1. Growth....You build and explore with each move you make. Each post should include things like new boat built, child born, 100 swords made. Keep in mind about how long some tasks take. Expanding on your island will be uniting other "tribes" mostly through negotiations. You will do this with me which should be easy if your a sound diplomat as you are a warrior. In dealing with other players that is between you both though I will monitor things. There will be some pm traffic as I am sure you all will have secret questions. In the end how you move as a leader is up to you....I am just war god looking down.

2. Battles I will decide by factors that will add or subtract torwards your victory. Examples +1 for well crafted blades....no +'s for green Egyptian infantry. You put extra work or training into the unit I will notice...but you will make note as well.

3. You are the leader whether it is male/female. You command all aspects of your society. Remember if you die a child is the only way to secure a bloodline. Though I am open to other options if an air is clear. I hope players unite through marriage and treaties. This will be the roleplaying part of things.

4. Good question. This is a mixture of fantasy and real world tech. You can ask a priest to make a holy banner or sword for you to lead your troops for example, but a temple is not a factory. If you are an Asian lord for example and have Greek sailors in your Navy letting them have shrines on their ships maybe a good idea to raise moral. Relics will be important so training and having priests would be wise.

Please as more questions like these people....This will be interesting if you all give it a try.

Keep reading players....soon you will start writing. Have ideas or questions as you can see I am willing to answer. Want me to scale things down or all be in one village let me know as well.

Well let me know if you get some more players and I'll join. Sounds like it could work.

Okay...one player it is a start. Any other willing players?

I think the concept sounds interesting...still not entirely clear on how its going to work but sure...I'll sign on for this :)

Okay two players....MMM....what are you questions?

Do pretty much what you want within your village, but share actions and I will reply with results...For example you wish your troops to head North I tell you what is North you tell me what you do...Please ask away.

Three players....very good. I would like at least one more then we start.

Start thinking about your villages....and Day 1 for your main character.

You may be the master of the Asian Empire (well hopefully you will last that long.)

Other players start thinking about which group you would like to be in the game....Also only one player per race. Only after all have been exhausted or other interesting races proposed shall I allow people to pick a race that already has a player....even then your allies only in spirit.

Start thinking of a leader type character.....name description...family....etc.

Any other players lurking out there? This will be fun...good long term thread with lots of battles and drama.

I'm either thinking about proving history wrong and creating a Celtic empire :)
Or I was going to do Asian but RoneLith beat me to it :p
Hmm

My dear that is why I love having you on board. Always creative....The Asians have been picked but you can always have Asian subjects as you build an empire. The celts are impressive and I think these tribemen would make a great addition. Though you could have fun with the Vikings.

Keep me posted....

I'm createing my leader character right now so please do not be worried if it takes me a while. I work all this weekend and probably won't be able to post until wensday again by then I should have something good.

Okay next week sounds like a good start....try to recruit more players....More friends....more allies?

I will be intouch before I start the IC area....questions can still be posted here and it will allow for more players to be screened.

As of now I have Celts and Asians. Could make for some interesting battles or trade...I will through in some random barbarians and there will be villages of your cultures and others that are ready to become part of your empire.

Leader characters will be more then names. They will be what you roleplay with when you interact with others. Feel free to contact me....

Okay as of this weekend I have three potential empires out there...

The Celts Led my ScarredSoul82

The Asians Led by RoneLith

The Aztecs Led by javithetatman

You will all soon be finding yourselfs on three islands a reasobable distant from each other (you will need ocean going ships to reach each other). Not to say they are not other islands nearby, and other hostiles. Every island can support your own culture and others. Though there are tropical their are winters. You can easily grow corn, wheat, rice, and fruit in each area. Though on your native islands the fields can support more of your culture's favorite food.

Unlike many computer games you will be able to use what you capture. One example is in Warcraft where destroy the opposing sides farms. Humans can't eat hogs? Goblins can't use grain?

Not in my world. Aztecs once they capture and research technology can build bambo armor like samurai, and your celtic warriors may not like it but they will eat rice.

Let me say I am thankful to all parties for signing up for this thread. We are going in a new direction for the roleplay area, and I want this to be good.

So every one give me a general idea of your character and ideas of what you want to do first. Then the War God realm will soon be open....

Hello Group...

Well I have three players and I hope to have more as the game progresses. Is everyone ready to begin? If you are I will set things in motion and open another thread.

We will Lauch this weekend....

Feel free to post you characters....It will help me design a good opening.

I am waiting to hear confirmation from one more player to take on the role of leader of the Greeks.

ARE YOU READY FOR CONGUEST????????????

Ok I guess I'll be the first brave soul to post a character..hehe...its a bit rough, and a bit lengthy...but I wasn't sure what you wanted...

I'm changing a few things about Celtic society to fit my character, soooo yeah...um they're just very progressive is all ;)

Name: Caillean
Age: 23
Physical Description
Eyes: green
Hair: waist length auburn
Height: 5’8
Weight: 130 lbs.
Other: fair/sunkissed skin, a long toned figure with high round breasts and long legs, several random battle scars litter her legs, arms and back, and she has the symbol for the triple goddess (three intertwined triangles) tattooed between her shoulder blades.

Brief History: Caillean grew up as the youngest and only daughter of the tribe’s former leader Aine-her mother. Being a matriarchal society she was to be bred to rule after her mother’s death. She was marked with the symbol of the Goddess and set to live with the priestess’ to keep her safe, educated and chaste until the time in which she could rule. A bright girl she quickly showed a talent for healing and the tribes mysticism, as well as a natural bard. When she turned 16 she, and several others were sent on the traditional spirit quest to find guidance through the Goddess and through the skills they had acquired.
When they returned 2 days later they found their village burned to the ground and most of their people dead or wounded. A rival tribe had ridden in under the cover of night and stolen the livestock, as well as what remained of last year’s harvest. Caillean found her mother slaughtered, her head on a pike…and the bodies of her brothers lay in a crumpled heap atop a pile of ashes that had once been their home.

She swore revenge and took up her mother’s sword, and after the lengthy task of rebuilding their village and tending the fields so they would have a harvest for winter, they exacted their vengeance and slaughtered the neighboring tribe…though they did what their enemies had not. They killed every living thing so that in the years to come no one would be able to come back and kill them.
Since then Caillean the Warrior Priestess has never left any survivors….

Parentage: Caillean was conceived on Beltane when her mother took the Horned God to her bed (* the Horned God is typically a priest who dons the Mask of the God, and digests some sacred herbs to help him channel the deity so the child produced from their coupling will be divine)

Tribe’s Location: SE corner of Ireland

Population: 7,000

# of Neighboring Tribes Who Pay Tribute to Avoid Slaughter: 25

Avg. Tribute Per Year: ¼ of harvest and livestock and loyalty to arms in war

I wanted to find an image to give her some sort of physical representation and I thought this was sort of accurate
