Richard "Rick" Rogers

Relevance in story:

Grew up in West Lawn, the gang-terrorized neighborhood central to the story.

Returned to West Lawn after requesting a discharge from the Navy SEALs.

His expressed reason for returning was to rescue his father and sister from their situation.

But deep in his heart he knew all along that he was going to do something about the gangs fighting one another for control of West Lawn.

Physical Description:

Photograph

6 foot, 185 lbs; solidly built, strong, with great endurance.

Brunette hair

While in the SEALs, he and his men typically wore their hair wild and beards long to allow them flexibility in infiltrating a variety of cultures where long hair and/or facial hair was typical.

His hair is currently as seen in the picture above.

Deep brown eyes.

No tattoos. (Hard to infiltrate the enemy with US Navy tattoos all over you.)

Above average cock length and girth. (Just thought I'd throw that in.)

Personality:

Quiet and reserved with people he doesn't know.

Highly intelligent, knowledgeable, and informed.

Very eager to learn new things and gather intel about situations in which he might find himself.

Loyal and dedicated to those who deserve it.

Kind to women, yet a bit of an animal in bed.

History:

Grew up in West Lawn.

His father, Leroy, abandoned the family when Rick was just 9 years old. Ironically, while shacking up with a woman just six blocks away, Leroy never made any attempt to be a part of Rick's life; and if it hadn't been for Rick visiting Leroy's new home, the two would never have seen one another.

His mother, Marla, began moving one man after another into their house. At least two of them forced themselves on Rick's sister, Rosa, despite her age still being short of mid-teen. Marla knew about this abuse and did nothing to stop it. Rick went to his father for help but was turned away.

His sister turned to drugs, alcohol, and sex as a coping technique in her mid-teens. Rick tried to protect her, even offering to take her away from the City. She refused, as would be expected from an addict.

Finished with his family, he entered the Navy the day after his 18th birthday. He was accepted in the SEALs, with whom he conducted 2 dozen missions, most of them very dangerous and classified.

He kept in contact with his family, but for the most part all either of the three family members wanted from him was cash for their various addictions or the problems that arose from them.

In February 2017, his mother was killed in a drive by shooting. The Faithful -- the most powerful of the street gangs in West Lawn -- were blamed but no charges were ever filed.

In March 2017, Rick came home for his mother's funeral. His father didn't show; his sister showed up strung out on heroine; and the few neighbors and family friends who came had been split pretty evenly between telling Rick to save himself by staying in the Navy and never coming back to West Lawn or telling Rick that this would never have happened if he hadn't joined the Navy to get away.

In early April 2017, he told his girlfriend, Carlie, that he was going back to West Lawn to get his sister and father out. But she knew -- and, honestly, Rick knew -- that he was going back to the neighborhood to see what he could do about the gangs that had been responsible for the destruction of his childhood neighborhood.

Terrance "Terry" (Big Bang) Jefferson

Relevance in story:

Grew up in West Lawn, the gang-terrorized neighborhood central to the story.

After being discharged from the Marines after just two years -- he'd been accused of, charged with, but not tried for murder -- he returned to West Lawn and joined the Faithful, a violent street gang.

A gang banger out of necessity, he fantasizes a day when the gangs of West Lawn can cease their violence and work together to create a peaceful, prosperous community. But deep in his heart and soul, he knows that the odds of such a thing happening are practically nil.

Physical Description:

Photograph

Mixed ethnicity in order of percentages: Black, Hispanic, and Eastern European.

5'8" foot, 170 lbs; solidly built, strong, with great speed, quickness, and endurance.

Black hair cut close to the scalp.

Deep brown eyes.

Several tattoos. (They are not seen in his picture, but they're there. I will describe them soon.)

Large cock: 10 inches with a nearly 2 inch girth.

Personality:

Not at all shy or reserved, but he always considers his words and actions before employing them.

Intelligent, knowledgeable, and informed.

Loyal and dedicated to those who deserve his trust.

A bit of a dreamer. (See the section on "Relevance" above.)

Dominating lover who is not above forcing himself on a woman. Ironically, he is a very conscientious lover with women for whom he has love and concern.

History:

Was born in and began school in North Heights, a low income, majority Black, working class neighborhood on West Lawn's northern border. His mother called him Terrance, but most everyone else called him Tye.

Midway through 6th grade, his father was seriously injured in an industrial accident. A multimillion dollar settlement allowed them to move to an upscale neighborhood within West Lawn's boundaries. Terrance had been going to school with mostly low income students, 90% of whom had been Black, with the balance being Hispanic, Asian, or of mixed ethnicities.

Suddenly he was surrounded by rich kids who were mostly White, Asian, and in much smaller numbers Hispanic or Black; and his mother forced the name Terry upon him to sound -- in her words -- less Black and less poor.

Tye felt very much out of place in West Lawn and had a difficult time. His grades suffered, to the point that he was barely passing enough classes to stay in school; and he was making friends with the kinds of people his parents would rather he not have even known.

Physically, he matured young. He exercised daily, sometimes for hours; and by the time he was an 8th grader, he was playing on Club sports teams with players who -- during the school year -- were Junior and Senior Varsity players on the local high school teams.

But aside from this physical advancement, Tye became known for another physical dimension, specifically his big cock, which by the time he entered high school was 10 inches in length with a girth of almost 2 inches.

He lost his virginity as a Freshman at age 13 to an 18 year old high school senior who had heard of his impressive endowment and -- in her own words -- wanted to know if he knew how to use the drill God had seemed fit to put in his tool box. He'd impressed her enough to attract more and more eager women, and by the time he'd graduated high school he'd had sexual relations with more than 100 women.

His previous nickname of Big Jeff was replaced -- at least by the girls in his life -- with Big Bang because of not just his cock's size but because he rarely failed to cause his lover's to explode in ecstasy.

The summer after he graduated, he was struggling to avoid joining the local street gang, the Faithful. His mother gave him an ultimatum: join one of the military services or go away forever ... away to anywhere but here. Tye joined the Marines, but just weeks after being shipped out to Syria he was accused of and charged with a triple homicide of civilians in Syria. He wasn't tried though, instead being discharged and sent home.

He returned to West Lawn to find that his 2 younger brothers had all joined the Faithful. He joined as well, using his military experience and connections to current Marines to gain weapons and Afghani heroine. These two new resources were what the Faithful needed to make a power play for West Lawn, if not for the whole of the city.

But pushback from rival gangs was continuing. After a rival gang ambushed a Faithful drug sale, Tye walked alone into one of the rival gang's drug houses, shot down six members, then set a fire that caused the volatile chemicals to blow the house literally to smithereens, leaving nothing but a partial frame teetering over a cracked, concrete foundation and some scattered burning debris.

Tye's old nickname of Big Bang suddenly had a new meaning.

Tye is a good fit for the Faithful: smart, confident, fearless, ingenious, and -- when necessary -- ruthless. He isn't afraid to get his hands dirty when the need arises. Yet his time as a Marine taught him restraint when it comes to Innocents: he has garnered a reputation amongst the locals faithful to the Faithful, so when the gang's actions cause them harm or fear, they come to him for help.

He rose quickly to become the #3 man in the gang and is now in charge of one of their most profitable businesses, prostitution. Tye is no longer out on the streets every day, banging heads with the competition, which means less chance of being gunned down during a drive by or as a result of a drug or gun sale gone wrong. And he is getting all the pussy a man could ever want.

And yet, Tye isn't content with his life. Two decades earlier, a defrocked priest -- who came to be known as Father Jake -- had organized the Faithful not as a violent street gang but as a neighborhood club to keep the local boys out of gangs. Tye had never known the peaceful version of the Faithful, of course: by the time he'd come to know of them, Father Jake had been shot down in the street and the Faithful had begun striking out at those who had killed their mentor; and within just a handful of years, the Faithful itself had become one of the premier gangs in West Lawn.

But Tye's uncle had been one of those earliest members, and he'd left the Faithful rather than -- as he had put it before he, too, was shot down in the street -- become scum. Tye's uncle had told him of Father Jake's dream for the community, and though Tye had had the same dream at times through his life, he'd come to understand that changing the situation in West Lawn was little more than a fantasy.

Emmanuel "Manny" Lopez

Relevance in story:

Grew up in North Heights, a majority minority neighborhood bordering West Lawn to the north.

Joined the Faithful in his early teens and -- after Father Jake's death -- quickly rose to lead the street gang.

He is a ruthless leader with whom Rick and his cohorts will have to deal if they are going to clean up West Lawn.

Physical Description:

Photograph

5'8" foot, 165 lbs.

Dark brunette hair

Deep brown eyes.

Various tattoos depicting his commitment to the Faithful and the life of a hardened gang banger.

Average cock length and girth.

Personality:

He is often quiet, letting others make noise until it is time to demonstrate his dominance, at which point he can be mean, fierce, punishing, and violent..

Intelligent and knowledgeable despite his lack of education. (Quit school in 4th grade after becoming part of the Faithful's drug distribution.

Isn't above punishing or harming innocent people if it means a net gain of power, respect, or reputation.

Misogynist, who enjoys abusing -- physically and sexually -- women of all types.

Essentially, he is one bad dude.

History:

Grew up in North Heights, the son of a Hispanic father (from where his surname comes) and a Jamaican-American mother (from where his looks come). His father was an independent drug smuggler who supplied a variety of distributors, including the Faithful after it turned street gang; and his mother -- who had worked a number of minimum wage jobs through her life -- brought in most of her income blowing men in the back seats of their parked cars until the contracted HIV and committed suicide.

His 4 older brothers were all members of the Faithful, all the way back to when it was a peaceful boys club.

He quit school in 4th grade to become a lookout for their street drug distribution.

At 12, he killed his first rival gang member, execution style. After that, he slowly climbed the ladder of power until, at just 19, he was running the Faithful.

NOT DONE. IGNORE FOR NOW.

Center City and the 6 Districts

Location: somewhere in Central California.

Population: ~50,000 within city; another 50,000 living within 25 miles.

How it got its name: of 7 small neighboring unincorporated communities, it was the most central of them and was the only one to incorporate (in the late 19th century).

Annexation: Over time, Center City annexed the other communities.

The Districts:

7 Districts: Downtown, West Lawn, North Heights, East Hills, East Valley, South Valley, and West Plains. (List of districts begins at the center, moves to the west, then circles around clockwise.)

Topography: A short range of mountains to the north that runs essentially west-east; is mostly flat. The Green Valley River (which ranges between 70-150 feet in width) approaches from the northeast divides to meanders around the Downtown District, essentially creating an island, then recombines to the southwest before heading off toward a bigger river and finally the Pacific Ocean.

The Downtown District:

Location: essentially dead center amongst the original 7 communities that eventually became Center City.

A typical downtown area: includes 30 buildings that are 10-30 story high; commercial, residential, and very light industrial; theaters, parks, and other recreational opportunities; a stadium shared by both a minor league baseball team and an American league soccer team; and more.

Topography:

Violence: The Downtown District is the least affected by overt gang violence.

West Lawn.

the districts are listed below clockwise beginning in the north; and the most prominent gangs in those districts are listed as well:

North Heights:

A more elevated area which also includes some tall hills.

The hills are filled with large, expensive estates belonging to the rich.

Below those hills in all directions are most middle to upper middle income homes.

To the south of that the neighborhoods become poorer and more dense.

; the areas just below them have homes

From west to east, its southern border pushes up against West Lawn, Downtown, and East Valley.

Rolling hills and more elevated areas give the District its name.

Economically:

The hills: mostly large, gated estates belonging to high income home owners.

Below the hills: to the south are middle to higher income homes; while to the north are vast fruit and nut orchards, leading further north to more farms, ranches, and arid pasture land.

The Southern Border: where North Heights meets West Lawn and Downtown, the neighborhoods are high density, with homes, apartments, and commercial buildings. Where North Heights meets East Valley, there are mostly apartment, commercial, and light industrial buildings.

East Valley

Downtown (the original Center City location)
