I'm working on a story that might be fun to roleplay online. I wonder if anyone might be interested in joining/roleplaying. Here's some background information for the story's setting; please let me know if you would like to know more.

THE IC THREAD IS HERE: https://forum.literotica.com/showthread.php?p=22459756#post22459756

The world’s governments, in an unprecedented show of selfless cooperation, agree to launch all of their nuclear arsenals to destroy an onrushing meteor that is on a collission course for Earth. The effort saves the Earth from certain and complete destruction.

Outraged that world leaders would “dare halt God’s Armageddon,” several religious fanatic terrorist groups unite to acquire virtually all of the world’s remaining nuclear, chemical and biological weapons stockpiles. The united terrorists succeed in detonating nuclear bombs almost simultaneously at key oil drilling locations, irradiating the world’s entire supply of petroleum.

A series of accidents during the final phase at the terrorist’s sole storage facility (located somewhere in the African country of Uganda) detonates the entire stockpile, killing all life within a hundred kilometers. The chemical and biological agents combine to form a mutated retrovirus that affects more than 99.9% of all men and 50% of all women in the world -- mostly those in the poorer, third-world countries of Asia and Africa.

The retrovirus targets testosterone and melanin, and triggers an extreme diuretic effect, expelling the victim’s bodily fluids within 24 hours. The victim dies and becomes a dried, emaciated “husk” at the end of the process. The retrovirus somehow gains control over the victim’s neural system, and allows the corpse some form of semi-sentience and mobility. The “husk” becomes extremely aggressive, attacking any uninfected humans in the area, usually with simple weapons such as make-shift clubs (typically large human bones such as femur bones). Fortunately, due to their radical decrease in body water, husks have greatly reduced strength, speed, coordination and dexterity.

Metal rapidly corrodes into a pile of rust upon contact with any part of a husk’s body. Husks gain some form of nourishment by absorbing the rust piles into their bodies. Husks also seem to repair physical damage to their bodies by entering highly-polluted, radioactive or otherwise extremely toxic areas and absorbing the environmental toxins, radiation and pollutants. As such, great numbers of husks migrate and congregate in polluted, radioactive and otherwise inhabitably-toxic areas. Before long, an area’s level of pollution/toxicity is directly proportionate to its husk population.

Striking husks with sufficient blunt force trauma activates an internal, spontaneous combustion mechanism causing the husk to incinerate almost instantaneously into glowing embers of quickly-dissipating ash that infects other potentially-susceptible victims. Firearms are completely ineffective against husks, who merely absorb the bullets; in fact, the husks gain some form of nourishment from absorbed ammunition.

99.9% of surviving pre-pubescent males and 50% of all prepubescent females succumb every year to the retrovirus upon reaching adolescence. 99.9% of the remaining males are impotent, sterile and usually both.

The after-effects of the husk retrovirus unintentionally invoke the “Armageddon” that the terrorist religious fanatics originally hoped for: economies grind to a halt and entire governments collapse under the ensuing panic-stricken riots. Famine precedes multiple disease epidemics shortly thereafter; again, the poorer, third-world countries of Africa and Asia suffer the most.

Over 4 billion people succumb completely to the retrovirus and become marauding husks within the first year. Entire countries in Asia, Latin America and Africa are literally wiped out within the first year.

A large and growing group of men who are naturally-immune to the retrovirus have banded together, forming a marauding army of "Road Warriors" -- similar to the characters represented in films such as "Mad Max." Unfortunately, they are constantly exposed to radiation from the irradiated gasoline and petroleum products they use in their motor vehicles. The RoadWarriors use fear and intimidation quite successfully in their recruiting efforts. The RoadWarriors torture, rape and murder males who refuse to join them -- mostly for the fun of it.

Your characters are somehow naturally-immune to the retrovirus, and must find a way to survive in a ravaged world, plagued with dangerous "husk" creatures, riots & warfare between surviving humans, the impending collapse of modern civilization as we know it, etc. Most males are affiliated with the marauding "RoadWarriors."

I'll post more information if there is any interest in this setting.

Please feel free to post any questions, comments and concerns as well.

Thanks for your interest!

It looks like we have four people, which should be enough to start our thread off. If there aren't any other questions, comments or concerns, I suppose we should post our characters in this thread?

I'll start the IC thread when all four of us have our character profiles up.
:)
Thanks again for your interest!

Juan "John" De La Cruz

Juan "John" De La Cruz
early 40's (looks at least 10 years younger)
Asian male, long black hair, dark brown eyes
wears glasses (poor eyesight)
5'9" tall, 171 lbs. (husky/muscular build)

Background: His parents were in the military prior to the Apocalypse, so John rarely lived in the same country/state for more tha a couple of years in a row.

Due to his poor vision, John couldn't follow his parents' career footsteps and join the military. He moved out of his parents' home after he graduated from high school and put himself through college while working various fast-food and retail jobs. He got married right after he graduated from college, got divorced and then went to law school. He used his law school education to help him climb the corporate ladder at an engineering firm, eventually attaining the position of Human Resources Vice President.

Skills/Abilities That Might Prove Useful In A Post-Apocalyptic Setting: John was never very enthusiastic about firearms (much to his parents' chagrin when they tried to teach him how to shoot). John was always more interested in ancient Asian martial arts, and spent a lot of time pursuing training in kendo, iaido, and arnis de mano. He read Sun Tzu's Art of War/Strategy and Miyamoto Musashi's Book fo Five RIngs several times by the time he graduated from high school.

John is VERY resourceful, and is a moderately good cook.

When required, John knows how to lead small groups of people very well. He inspires confidence in the people around him, and motivates them with positive reinforcement.

Personal Property/Equipment that survived the Apocalypse:
~ one pair of prescription eyeglasses
~ one pair of prescription sunglasses
~ usually wears warm weather clothing (shorts, t-shirt, underwear, socks & running shoes)
~ one bokken (japanese wooden sword; see illustration in signature below)

name: Silvia Viorica
age:24
race: American female, long brown hair, green eyes.
Description:5'5" 156 lbs. average athletic build

Background: Was raised in a very loving supportive family and worked hard throughout her school years. She was studying to become a nurse and took many fun and interesting classes that did and didn't help with her goal. She worked as a translator for deaf and mute people because she was exceptionally skilled at this. She made great money, was a great people person. She never became a nurse but did study hard and remembers many of her lessons. She played softball throughout her youth and was known for her power hits.

Skills/Abilities That Might Prove Useful In A Post-Apocalyptic Setting: She is a skilled nurse even though she never graduated. She's usually very calm and collected thought does have a bit of a temper...

Personal Property/Equipment that survived the Apocalypse:
~ one 5 subject notebook with 3 pens
~ one messanger bag with first aid supplies
~ two sets of clothes, (t-shirts, shorts, shoes, socks)
~ one jacket
~ one softball bat that stays tucked in her large bag

I love your character already, Ultimate! :nana: I can't wait to start, now that you're in!

sounds interesting, if for nothing else than to read.... seems kinda "fallout"ish, which i apprieciate. my first question would be are the charecters played members of the roadwarriors?

and my second, what is the stance on firearms in this setting? you mentioned metals corrode upon contact with the husks, do you mean instantaiously, or with prolonged exposure?

Kay O'Dell
Age: 28
Profession: Collectible shop owner
Appearance: 5 9, 160 lbs, short curly black hair and hazel eyes.

Background:
Kay used to own a collectibles shop and sold figurines, weapons and memorabilia. She got into the business due to her lifelong interest in the SCA (sca.org). She's won archery competitions both in the SCA and in competitions around the US, but didn't make it to the Olympics. She has in her home a lot of gear and clothes for events which are like 16th century recreations.

She's shooting shafts these days that contain no metal, and with her compound bow can put in as much punch as a bullet.

Skills: Archery, book and candle making, hunting with bow, can field dress a elk or bear, plays the lap harp and can sing several 16th century songs and dance 16th century dances. Has the gear to set up a campsite.

Kay has chosen, for fun, to live in the rough for more than half her life. While this is a terrifying time for everyone with the husks about, she is prepared.

Gear:
Two bows, one light bow and one heavy composite bow and metaless arrows for both. Quarrel, archery gloves and forearm guard.
Backpack containing field fletching kit, strings for the bows, small bow tool kit, rain poncho, hunting knife, mirror, whetstone, pouches of camping food, canteen, clean socks and feminine products, aspirin and mydol.
T shirt under sweater under jacket, hat with visor, protective sunglasses for hunting, hiking boots, jeans.

I think all participants should play characters that best represents what they would do in this setting, if it happened in real life. Therefore, if some men wish to roleplay a gang of rapacious, barbaric roadwarriors, then they should do it.

Firearms are still useful, but are probably better reserved for use against other humans and for hunting. I think the issue here is not whether they are simply effective against husks; instead, the issue is whether the expenditure of ammunition is cost-effective against threats that can be dealt with by use of hand-held bludgeoning instruments.

I hope you will see fit to join us! :)

VERY NICE character, Polite Succubus! :rose: Your character will definitely be an asset to any group that you see fit to join (hopefully mine)!

If the three people who have posted characters join forces somehow, we will then have a hunter (Succubus), a medic (Ultimate) and a cook (me).

Looks like we're almost ready to get started, eh? I'm very eager and excited to start now...

:nana:

hmmm.... there IS a good point there. in a similar thread i had started we "convieniantly" discovered an abandoned armoury a few months into te game LOL! but i shall think on this and probably create a charecter

Jonny Magna

Jonny Magna
Age: 55
Profession: Wanderer
Appearance: 6`2, Stocky heavy set man, short dark slightly greying hair, has a black beard and like his hair is speckled with white.

Background:
Used to be a street fighter in the streets, and yet had a good family life even with grand kids. He saw all of them die at different points even having to kill one who had succumbed to the retrovirus.

Jonny walks wherever he goes, he is a natural fighter. He has a tendency to try and help people he finds on his travels. Any outposts he comes across he moves on again pretty quickly after getting supplies.

Skills: Fighter, life skills and bright for a man with little time for small talk.

Jonny Magna is still healthy and fit for a man half his age, since all the outbreak he has found the need to stay focussed on life, has made him age slowly. He is sure it will catch up on him but who knows.

Gear:
Basic traveling gear, small amount of food and water (running low on supplies) Silver knuckle dusters handed to him by the head fight master after beating Fig Harley in three rounds. An axe used for getting fire wood and other uses.

ooc : Hope this sounds ok. let us know

Great character, Optimas!
:nana:
I hope your character joins our group! I don't mean to be preumptuous, but your character sounds like he would be a great one to have as the group's fighter/protector, and perhaps, an emissary/scout to check out new outposts for possible danger!
:nana:
Thanks and WELCOME!

More Setting Information

I was going to simply posts some more setting information, but then thought that you might also want to throw in some of your ideas and make this more fun by making it more collaborative. As such, please feel free to post your setting ideas, thoughts, prognostications, etc.
:)
Let's just do our best to NOT contradict each other's posts, so we don't confuse any one who comes along to join us later.

Here's my contribution (in outline form):

~ the retrovirus and its after-effects completely wipe out entire nationalities, especially in the Third World countries of Asia and Africa.

~ The United States and Canada (or, what was left of the two countries) merge into one government called the United North American States and Territories (later shortened to "North America").

~ North America is the only super-power that survives the Apocalypse.

~ In the first year of its existence as a new nation, North America immediately devotes its armed forces to search and resue missions, looking for people who survived the Apocalypse and bringing them to North America.

~ In a major political upset, Maria Shriver (wife of late Califronia governor Arnold Schwarzenegger) becomes the first President of North America, easily defeating both Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi.

~ The North American government, in response to reports of increasing husk and Road Warrior activity along its southern border, plans to send its military to assume control of the area formerly known as Mexico. The North American government hopes to create a buffer zone somewhere in former Mexico to keep husks and Road Warriors from invading North America.

~ Militant religious fanatic groups congregated somewhere in the Middle East, and are ignoring all warnings to stay away from the world's irradiated oil fields. These groups resumed oil drilling and processing operations in the Middle East, Asia, Siberia, West Africa, and other areas where severe radiation otherwise prevents further exploitation. The group stores massive quantities of highly-radioactive petroleum products. Evidence suggests that the religious fanatics are supplying petroleum products to the Road Warrior gangs of the world.

~ A rogue faction comprised of former military personnel from all over the Pre-Apocalyptic world, seeks to unite all Road Warrior gangs under its banner. The group tried to take control of the Panama canal, but was driven off by North American military forces. The North American military force sustained incredibly heavy casualties, and were further demoralized when video arrived later, showing their captured comrades being raped, tortured, and then eaten while still alive by their captors. President Shriver has declared war on this group that is yet to be named.

Wow... That's a lot of shit that's happened...

I was thinking... How far away are our characters going to be from one another?

Questions...

I know that North America is like the only power... what are the living conditions as compared to the rest of the world?

Even More Setting Information

~ the sudden loss of over 3 billion men and nearly 2 billion women to the retrovirus results in a significant loss of human technology. Technology levels regress almost 50 years, to the level present during the 1980s.

~ 21st century technology is now considered "lost" technology, even within the borders of North America. The government of North America declares a bounty on items that directly contribute to regaining any such "lost tech."

~ The retrovirus' work is not yet over, apparently. Every year, millions adolescents succumb to the retrovirus. Scientists predict that such occurences will continue until all who are susceptible to the retrovirus have succumbed.

~ Military equipment is increasingly rare, since Apocalypse all but destroyed the technology and skilled manpower required to produce such items. As such, the North American government posts significant rewards for any salvaged military equipment, including personal firearms and small arms ammunition.

~ Those who seek adventure (such as player characters) might wish to seek lost technology and salvaged military equipment outside the borders of North America.

~ Some adventurer-types might also be compelled to go forth and seek out people who the North American rescue missions may have missed or over-looked. Although there are no bounties for finding such people, this may be a means for new participants to join the thread -- that is, by being found by the current participants.

NOTE: If any of you think that my setting information may be flawed or too far out, please let me know. :)

Thank you for your compliment. It's a combo between myself (the SCAer) and my aunt (the bow hunter). She's got like 50 trophies she's won.

I would think that since the Husks feed on rust major cities would be abandoned, and cars tricky, yes?

Can't really trust a 5 story building if the support beams have been eaten....

Perhaps we met at a refugee camp?

I think it's good actually.... I was just trying to figure out why people would venture out... and I like your idea about the salvaging. Hm... are there other reasons?

Maybe some of the RoadWarriors get in and kidnap some women and men... would a search and rescue attempt be made?

You know... like we were all kidnapped or something and that's how we met and now we're working our way back to North America or something?

PoliteSuccubus said:
Raiders swoop down on the refugee camp and we band together to get them back?

Yeah, like that or my other suggestion... like maybe we all got to know one another in the short time that we are at this refugee camp and then one or two of the members are taken and the other's have to go after them...

or the whole group and we have to fight our way back
