I suppose this will be the OOC area for Fly Sparrow Crazy. I'm sorry if I'm a little clumbsy at this, but as talented and experienced as I am at table top playing, roleplaying online seems to find me stumbling over myself occationally.
The setting is your typical Dungeons & Dragons world - medival fantasy for those who are unfamiliar. It's actually in a universe that I call Nani's Chaos (Nani being my alter ego), but that's trivial information. It's not based off of any prewritten games or books, and is populated with every creature found in the D&D games, ... and a few that aren't. (Warning: Anyone ever see the movie "Willow"? Keep an eye out for brownies! *evil grin*) If you're at a loss as to what races there are (ie- you've never played/ heard of D&D) then think of any race found in The Lord of the Rings series. If you've never read/seen/heard of the LOTR ... play human and pray that you learn fast.
New Haven, the town, is a very large city, sitting on the edge of a river - the only city bigger in the kingdom is Kingston - where the palace rests. It is predomanently populated by humans ... and elves, the further into the slums you travel, the more diversity you see. Keep in mind the steriotypes that accompany your race and assume to be see as such, ... until you develope a reputation of your own anyway. The most powerful groups in the city are the magic guild (the Seeing Eyes) and the thieves guild (the Silent Hand). The thieves guild is a surprisingly benevolent force... as long as you're not caught poaching, and the magic guild is a power hungry political monster (and yes, there is a deep rivalry).
To the north is a mountainous regon full of barbarian Orcs... to the south is a dense forest, home to elves ... the left and right aren't anything to look at ....the river Sounding, which New Haven rests on, is the eastern most boundry, and the western edge just seems to get lost in the flatlands.
I guess that takes care of settings - you can be absolutely anything that you want to be .... male, female - good, evil - lawful, chaotic - human, dwarven, elven .... dragon, demon, djin .... just keep in mind, the more advanced the character is when you start off, the bigger the monsters that come after you. I'd prefer if we started off with lower level characters... for ease of any newbies and so the GM can get to know the wants and needs of the players before jumping head first into things.
Which reminds me- what kind of story do you want? Psychological thriller? Action? Comedy? Drama? What kind of goodies do you like? Are you the kind that want's the dragon's prized jewel, magic that it contains, or the puzzle box that it was hidden in?
So, tell me your comments or ideas - also, If you know who and what you wanna play, please post it here. I need a name, race, and physical discription (including apparent age). I'd also like profession, what skills they're good at and which they aren't, and a history. Pets are aloud..., but keep in mind that this story starts off in (of all places!) a tavern.
...What? What are you looking at me like that for? I'm new, and this is the most neutral starting ground I could think of.
Please, please, please post! Even if you think the whole idea sucks elephant toes, let me know (preferably along with ideas on how to fix it).
Thankyou!
