OOC: Firefly

I know this is pretty slow around here lately but I thought that I would start up a new thread about the television series Firefly as well as the movie Serenity.... I hope that people know about this show and the movie and that they like it enough to take a part in this thread.... if enough people like the idea feel free to take a character then please join in. I hope that I can make this good enough.

Oh, and I am going to take Jayne..... he is a character I think I can give justice to.

Also, would this be before or after the events of the film? I know that affects how smoothly things run on the ship, and it is certainly an idea that I was just about to post until I ran into this. It'd be really cool if we could get some real fans in on this and continue the adventures of Serenity.

I would have to say after the film, it would make this somewhat better if it is like a continuation of the story. I know that it stinks because one of the main characters would be unplayable but it would make things more interesting if it happens after the events in the movie and it shows how the characters are moving on after what happened.

I hope that people will join this thread as I loved the show and the movie and this is something I would love to see happen.

I posted a casting call for the rest of the crew. I certainly have a lot of ideas on storylines, etc... and it should be interesting to collaborate with other fans on where we should go with this.

Worst case scenario, we could just take on the beginnings of a story until we get a crew, or just talk over possible story arcs. Jayne and Mal could be on the second shuttle getting back from some sort of business deal, or some sort of Jayne business, or what have you.

Just make up a character and he or she is yours, just make sure he fits in with the misfits.

Spoiler alert.

After the movie eh, so the priest with the mysterious past and the pilot are dead. As well as the Jewish information broker with the robot for a wife. That leaves Mal, the Companion, the mechanic, the two other soldier-types, the doctor, and his crazy super-sister who's now less crazy. Oh and I guess the uber ninja/samurai/spy that was after them in the movie also made it out alive.

What about new characters?

Add any characters that you wish to.... all I can say is go nuts, well not really but figuratively.

If you have an idea for a character put him or her here and then we can go on from there. I just hope that this thread takes off and that we have as much fun as we can, then again with the idea that we have to work with how could it not be.

Hi ya’ll,

I’d like to present the following new character :

Name : Jaun (nick Jaundice) Emile Bouchet
Height, Weight, ect : about 5’ 10”, very broad shouldered, black hair and black eyes, with scars on face, and an especially prominent long scar running from forehead to chin. Jaundice is a nickname from the color of his skin, which is slightly yellowish. And oh Yeah, he’s a Reaver. Well, a reformed Reaver, if Reavers can be reformed. He got an Outworld form of yellow fever when as a child, and the combi of yellow fever drugs and the calming agent spread throughout Miranda, makes for an interesting Reaver. He is of course quite naughty as a child, as a teen as well, and as an adult.

Thought I’d throw in a Reaver as a crew member. I’d like to emphasize that Jaun is not a mad Reaver, as portrayed in the movie. He just looks like one. He has morals and beliefs, just like the Government agent. (This would certainly put him in conflict with the rest the rest of the crew)

BTW, he was rescued by Serenity after the big battle. (I’ve now officially run out of ideas on how to introduce him to Serenity and how he became one of the crew – any ideas on this is very much welcome)

Firefly:Outlaws Torn

IC: Mal prepped the shuttle and was taking off to the surface of Persephone, a place he'd rather not see frequent, but seems to keep on getting to some way or another. He left Zoe in command, for her own good really, though he would rather have her in tow on most trips than Jayne. But they had all made enemies on Persephone, and in case of trouble, he knew Jayne sent the right kind of message to anyone wanting to get in the way of his objective. More importantly, he kept Zoe on Serenity for one reason, Wash. He saw Wash die right before his eyes, and he knows that she did as well. Looking for another pilot so soon just didn't feel right, but it had to be done, he had to keep flying above all else.

"Jayne, liven up your boots will ya, I'd like to get there before the gorram market closes." He shouted out the shuttle door. This shuttle wasn't as smooth a ride as the other one...Inara's shuttle. He had hardly touched it since she left, now that she was back, he figured he was right in doing so. Besides, a woman of her position deserves the best he can offer, he thought.
"Everyone on this boat does." he muttered out loud, looking at the vastness of the stars, the sun, and the planet before him.

Kaylee and Simon were shiny together he had to admit, Zoe was coping like the professional he knew, and River was, well, River was River...with a newfound deadly talent. Jayne was still impatient, rude, dumb, but he had good intentions, for the most part. And Wash? Wash was dead, and for the first time in a good long time, Mal felt that bitter heartache he got when he lost a crew mate, and a friend. He carried him and the Shepherd home. Maybe the old Shepherd had found what he was looking for, maybe not.
Of all the people on the boat, the refugee that Simon insisted on taking care of after their last skirmish with the Alliance, was the one that Mal trusted the least. Something wasn't right about him, something familiar, after all what was he doing there at that time at that place?

Too much thinking, made his head hurt, especially before getting a position of potential bruising and bleeding.

"Jayne?! What am I gon.." Mal was interrupted on the comm by Simon's voice.

"Captain?" he asked coyly

"What?!"

"You know our passenger friend?"

"Yea?" Mal was getting impatient, he just wanted to land on Persephone and get out before the Alliance or anyone else caught their trail.

"Well, I'm just going to tell you for now, but...He's a Reaver."

A hush over the shuttle ensued

"Ai ya, wo mun wan leh."

I'm a long time, but infrequent lurker. However, a Firefly orpg might just get me to attend regularly.
Right now I'm still too inexperienced to just jump in and grab a character. But I'll be reading your exploits... and when the times get tough I'll gladly jump in to keep the story going in whatever role is needed.

I'll prefer a male character... but I'll do any main character, if needed.

So, heads up. You got your first fan.

That's a great idea, I was thinking of getting Badger involved as well as Niska, and a white slave trade operation, that's basically ignored by the alliance because it helps it's prize citizens, and a whole lot of people end up getting rubbed the wrong way about it. So yea, Badger works wonderfully.

Hi all

I am a huge Firefly fan, and would love to be involved in this story. I'd like to start up my own character though rather than play an established one.

Let me know if the following is acceptable, or not!

Character name: Qin Anders
Sex: Female
Age: 28
Bio: Joined the Alliance Military Academy straight out of school. Has two older brothers, also in the service of the Alliance. Served 6 years on a cruiser in the outer rings. Prides herself on her physical fitness and ability to cope in stressful situations. Never were these skills put to the test more than when a series of 3 explosions ripped through the engines, dorm and flight deck of her cruiser. When the fires were out, and the life support was back to limping along, Qin took stock, and realised she was alone.

OOC - Basically I'm thinking Serenity will come across the floating wreck with the intention of salvaging what is left, and while searching they find Qin, who by this point has been alone for a month.

This is going to be fun!

Hi all.

Angelus and beren 225 , I do not mean to intrude, but I think we need some kind of schedule.
Nothing dramatic. Nothing to intrude too much upon the private lives of everybod concerned.
My idea is this: we all like firefly, but we all have limited time available. Well , no harm is done in a slowly progressing storry. How about we agree on one (considerable) post per week, unless the players want to post more and faster (as in a conversation). This way, you know how to keep track , and once every one has posted, Mal or the gamemeaster can post his next post and we all know when to post as well.

(Right now I don't know if I'm (Badger) suposed to try to meet the serenity crew, or if can just meet them on persephone - whenever I want.


Again, I do not man to inrude, but I like roleplaying and I like Firefly and i would just like to get a little bit more ... to grab on to and to guide me.
