This thread is to facilitate the use of OOC messages for "Fire on the Horizon". Please post your character(s) here, with a brief history/description, before entering the main thread.

I would ask authors to please pay attention to previous posts. I realize there will be small blips to overcome, but we don't want one character killing an NPC while someone else is talking to him in another town... if you know what I mean.

A brief framework, as molded in brief conversation with Firesprite:

The shores of Tyrn... a dark and unknown land far removed from the majority of comings and goings on other shores. The land mass itself is savage and, in most areas save the coastline, untouched. A few medium settlements have been set up inland, but most of the populous stays to the coast. It is what they know, and have known, for generations.
The larger coastline cities have become known by some notorious pirates, and become the home for them in "retirement". The residents, at first glance, are a barbarious and wild, though some hierarchy and civilized structure has been implemented throughout the land... and above it all, watching and twisting the fates of the masses, is him.
He is ruthless, he in unfeeling, he is power, he is savage, he is fierce, he is violence... and he is in control of all. He is Darnak. Under him all bow... his eyes and ears are everywhere.
His 'Gornachai' rule the underlings... Six massive vampiric-like creatures who carry out orders at any cost, led by their commander.
Their massive army network are snivling, virtually brainless, bulks of muscle, letting muscle and metal carry out the orders given to them.
It has been this way for years. Minor peasant revolts are squashed... usually within days, if not hours. Nothing could stand up to Him. Nothing... until now??

Enter our heros.. to defeat the evil, or become another chapter in futility is yet to be determined. A handful of characters should make up the group... whether they are all working together as a group, or some in the shadows for a while... I leave it up to you.
The pirate flags are on the masts, and the wind is blowing from an angry storm outside. Who will you be? A retired veteran looking for a last taste of blood? A marooned young blood who can't help getting involved? The local wizards understudy... or maybe you're a Gornachai? The Gornachai commander? A dark unclassed character secretly in the employ of Darnak (PM me for this role please)?

I'll be taking the reigns as Darnak... and Captain Mordue. He's captain of his ship, but doesn't have to be the leader of the "good guys" (I rather expect it to be more of a comittee group)... Grab your eye patch, sand down that peg-leg, and wipe that parrot crap from your shoulder... it's time to discover the Fire on the Horizon!

Saretha, the captain's woman.

Skilled with knives and poisons, she used to be a prostitute until "rescued" by the captain. Abducted would be a better word. Saretha is strong willed and self reliant, even more so since she earned the respect of the crew - by maiming one of them when they presumed upon her favors. Tall, buxom with black hair she knows the impact her body has upon men, and uses that to her advantage.

Captain Tray Mordue

Though intimidating in it's own right, his tall and well-muscled frame was nothing in comparison to the gaze of his piercing ice-blue eyes.
Mordue has spent his life on the open seas, taking what he pleased from those he choose as worthy prey. His crew served him faithfully, some out of pure fear for his wrath, some out of respect, some who had known nothing but his leadership.
He had few real friends anywhere, let alone on the ship, though his crewmates all thought of him as a friend. They all knew the line, however, and he would act swiftly when it was crossed.

Max

Max's past:

Max was the son of a considered great warrior, and had taken some of the attributes such as skills wit almost any sword. Yet Max was a peacful person, and didn't like to fight.

Darnok had found out that his father planning a revolt, and his home was attacked when he was out hunting for fish, it was then he vowed to get revenge on Darnok for his parents deaths.

Description: Most likely being the youngest of the force, Max is instantly underestimated in his skills of fighting, and even though he is not very strong yet, his quick planning and impressive speed makes up for it greatly, but he is slightly weak wiled.

He keeps his brown hair short, has a ribbon on his fore head that used to be his mothers, and a old wooden shield that belonged to his fathers

Yup, Darnak.

Character looks great Bird... I assume he's a landlover, and not carried in by boat, as his parents have died living under Darnak.

LOL... guess it was bad wording... I'll re-word it (though he did "rescue" you from prostitution).

:p

I changed it to "abused" so the sentence would still make sense... sorry for the ill-advised wording.

yes.. but maybe I was the best and kept only for the patrons who could pay the most?

LOL

its ok, you don't have to change it..

Sigrath, a Gornachai

Loyal only to Darnak and himself, Sigrath, a powerful vampire feasted on the succulent flesh of humans. Maintaining himself at full strength took two, sometimes three a night. The first a servant, slightly bitter with pride and vengance, the second, a young girl, sweet and pale in the bloom of her youth, but the snob in him liked to hunt in society such as it was, and it pleased him to to select them like a fine wine. They knew he was, and wished to spare their own necks. If he was seen at a gathering, they would open their own veins to him, let him sample of their essence, all the while hoping that they would be spared once again. They were cowed. Completely and thoroughly. Their blood tasted of their passiveness and it was only rarely that he tasted true fire from any of them. Tonight it was different.

Rockingham, known as Rocky. A young man currently on the outskirts of one of the towns. He has set up a nice little farm for himself, growing and selling certain things so he can stay afloat in this tiresome and tribulating world.
He has some magic skills, nothing big, and nothing refined. It is, at the most part, just untapped energy that at times he uses for his benefit. Until now he hasn't done more than help the plants grow and cause it to rain sometimes.
His powers go far beyond that.
He is accompanied by a brute of a man. A large individual named Sabaka. He is tall, with bronzed skin and raven black hair kept in a ponytail. He has a scar running across the side of his neck, something wicked and looked as if it hurt just as much healing as it did to get it.
He follows Rocky, not as a choice, exactly, but along with a blood pact he made long ago. Rocky saved his life, and he now has sworn his own to protect the lad.
Rocky doesn't have any weapons yet. Sabaka has a huge double bladed battle axe. It has many scratches and marks of long battles, but the edge is just as sharp as the day he got it.
A battling duo, yes, no?

They look like a perfect double compliment to the storyline, poohlive. Glad to have you aboard.

I changed the title of the thread, from Fire In the Horizon, to Fire on The Horizon. Every other time you mention it, its On, but I just wanted to make sure.

Oh, and I was wondering if Sabaka could have been, at one time, a part of Darnak's army. One of the snivelling brainless powerhouses. I didn't know exactly if it was possible for one to leave unnoticed... or maybe that would be a whole other level, just curious if it would work.

Thanks for changing the title... I set up the thread late last night and noticed the mistake right away (made mention of it in OOC).

That would work with Sabaka. It would be an unusual circumstance, but Darnak's army is expansive, and one gone astray would not be sorely missed.

Hey mind if I join?

Name: Serena (aka Siren)
Hair: Golden Blonde
Eyes: Peircing blue
height: 5'8
INFO: Serena is the captain of the pirate ship Temptress. She is known throughout the sea as the Siren. She is very beautiful but many know she is not to be approached. Her men are extremely loyal and would give their lives to protect her. She has hated Darnak all her life, his men had burned her village when she was but a girl killing her mother and her two sisters. She was taken in by her fathers good friend a pirate of the sea. There she was raised and taught to be the best sailor possible. She inherited the ship when her protector died and now seeks revenge on the man that caused her so much pain.

What do you think? Let me know if anything needs to be changed.

Looks fine to me :D welcome aboard Siren!

and by the looks you are recently come into your 1000'th posting, so congratulations too :D

If anyone else is interested in this thread.... this'd be a great time to join. I expect the next round of posts will get the story moving, and it may be a little more difficult to jump in later.

I'll move Mordue's group along in my next post. I'm too tired tonight to come up with a creative post. :)

Wow... what happened this semester. Sorry to say, since I wasn't actively posting in any threads, I seem to have disappeared. I'm back now and boy, does this look like fun!

Dansk Layor:

Dansk is known to the people of the southern shore of Tyrn as Dansk the programmer. Now, you or I might think this implies some profession with computers. However, the programming that Dansk does is of a different nature.

In a time past, Idan Layor lived far away from Tyrn and worked for a group called T&T--Telepaths and Telekinetics. After a severe outbreak of witch trials, he fled Acirema with his wife Alems. They bore four children and hoped that they would have a future in the T&T.

When the children were young, someone took them away from Idan and Alems and took them to an orphanage. The sisters, Tinum and Noob died of some of the "sicks" that the orphanage bred. Of the brothers, Mevon was routinely taken from the dormatory during the night by the head mistress and beaten. He became a secluded boy and lives to this day as a shy no-nothing. The other brother, Hakun ran away from the orphanage and was the only one to develop any of his parents' abilities. Of course, he never understood them. Just instinctual.

Hakun raped a woman once. She was a native to the forests of Tyrn's interior. Hakun never made it out of the forest alive, but he was spared to help raise his child and not killed until the twelfth anniversary of Dansk's birth.

Dansk spent all of his life living in a small family group a few miles inside the forest. After his father was killed, Dansk began interacting with the people by the shore. His birthright is a strong rating that would rival the head of the T&T though he isn't even aware of the group. Dansk is no magician though. His only powers are an aura that helps him to pursuade people, an ear inside of everyone's head, and the ability to move objects. He has seen a Gornachai on occasion, but his fear propels him into the forest on sight.

Ok... sorry about the slow posting... it's been a crazy month.

I'll move Mordue and the gang along again in the morning. My posts should be of more regularity soon.

:)
