I want to try to do something different here. Unlike in the overwhelming majority of threads on this board where each player creates a character and then those characters interact with each other, I would like to do an SRP where a character or small party of characters will be interacting with a whole world with many NPCs, many locations, etc. The dungeon master will not have a character of his own, but instead will be in charge of 'the world' with which the player character or characters interact. For example, if the character begins in a tavern, the DM could write the roles of the barman, or some key tavern guests that he wants to use to steer the storyline, but as the story progresses and the character finds him/herself in the forest, the DM might have bandit NPCs attack them and write for those NPCs. Hopefully you get the idea and many of you, perhaps, have already done something like this before. Basicly, the idea is to move away from a set list of characters and instead have several major roles filled by players, while all supporting roles are filled by the DM. Hopefully this will allow us to create a whole long adventure with the story flowing from one scene to another and developing as we go, instead of being limited to the time and place it began in, as is often the case in SRPs here.
For the time being, I want to see if anybody else likes this idea. So please vote in the poll and feel free to discuss it here. If there is enough interest, I will later flesh the SRP out and be looking for 1-3 players.
